    Arrival at Delphi

    May 20 in Greece

The drive from Corinth to Delphi was about three hours. We had a comfort stop at a cafe along the way. The cafe owner was persuaded by some in our group to turn his TV to the channel showing highlights of the royal wedding, and I had grave fears about whether we would get back on the bus at the scheduled time, but thankfully we did get away again reasonably on time. From there on the drive e was up into the mountains, quite different scenery to what we had had and very lovely.

We reached Delphi about 6pm, and I decided pretty quickly that I could stay here about a week (sadly we are only here for one night.) The Kastalia Boutique hotel, where we are staying is quaint (in a nice way) and it not only has a kettle in the rooms but there are also proper ceramic cups, not the silly paper cups that we had in Israel. There was time for a bit of a walk before dinner last night and again before breakfast, which I am currently enjoying.

    Delphi

    March 14 in Greece

The drive up to this mountain village is awesome! See pics for the view from our room! Quite a drive up to this little mountain town in a motor coach. Switchbacked 2 lane road. Driver is a pro.

Had dinner - traditional Greek food - was ok, but not as good as some of what we had, (especially the lunch we had earlier today), but then I don’t think we were too hungry either. Effi, our tour guide, continues to impress with her knowledge of history, all things Greek, and her warm hospitality. If you go with Gate1 on a Greek tour and you manage to get her, you have lucked out big time.

Wandered around this little town at night . It sits literally on the side of the mountain. If you go down a few streets, then you are climbing steps all the way back up. Shops stay open till 10 for us late night tour bus people. They don’t ignore you to put it mildly. :). Bought some doodads and called it a night around 11pm. Bags out at 7:30, breakfast at 7 - Bus leaves for the archeological exhibit (the reason we are here) at 8:30.

    Delphi, Greece

    July 4, 2016 in Greece

Our Delphi Day Trip from Athens was today! The archeological site was great and interesting, however our tour guide was quite full on with participation. She even gave us homework.

The day was hot. We drank from the Fountain of Youth, and then went and had lunch at a nice restaurant. We stopped at a cute little town where we had some ice cream, and I had a chat with a couple from the US. They were impersonating different US accents for me - it was rather funny!Read more
