      Venedig - Tag 1

      In Venedig angekommen haben wir uns zunächst den Dogenpalast angeschaut. Danach sind wir über den Piazza San Marco geschlendert und haben uns die Leute angeschaut, die sich nichts ahnend in eines der Restaurants gesetzt haben, um dann voller Überraschung am Ende einen Musikzuschlag bezahlen mussten (in jedem Restaurant spielt draußen eine eigene Band). Vor allem am Abend ist Venedig mit seinen Wasserstraßen super schön.Baca lagi

      Beautiful Venice

      It’s raining in Venice! After a slow start to the morning we headed off to use our hop on hop off water bus pass. It was much cooler today which was great for walking around. Our first stop is St Marks! So many people. We ended up getting tickets to explore the Doges Palace and only had a short wait to get in. Absolutely fantastic and the history was amazing. We spent about two hours wandering through the palace and then the Bridge of Sighs which led to the prison area.

      When we finished we were going to wander around but there were way too many people so we jumped back on the bus and went to Murano. It is a beautiful place and much quieter and less tourists. Interesting that some shops had signs saying not Chinese glass, which it wasn’t and it would have been a shame to destroy the local industry with Chinese imports.

      Had a yummy pizza on a canal and then looked at the many shops with amazing glass sculptures and jewellery. I was lucky and got a pair of Murano glass earrings. The ride back passed some beautiful buildings and sights!

      We got back to the start and then found a little bar for the expected refreshments and then we found a wonderful little restaurant where Pete says he had the best Seafood pasta ever! We shared some yum mussels and made short work of the bowl!

      Walked home after Pete had the best Tiramisu ever! We are off to Rome tomorrow.      Baca lagi

      Dag 17 - Venetië

      Vandaag met de boot naar 2 eilanden (murana en burana geweest) hier hadden ze hele leuke gekleurde huisjes. Daarna naar een ander eiland een middagje op het strand gelegen. Parasol was wel erg moeilijk om op te zetten🙃 dus een beetje hulp gekregenBaca lagi

      Dag 18 - Venetië

      Niet heel veel foto's gemaakt vandaag, maar vandaag zijn we naar een groot waterpark geweest met allemaal glijbanen. Het was 2 uur heen en 2 uur terug met de boot dus dat was ook wel heel leuk. Savonds nog wat pasta gegeten samen en tas ingepakt.Baca lagi

      Glastaubenandenken

      6:54..warum bitte bin ich an meinem Ausschlaftag um 6:54 wach..😂..Ich gönne mir einen Zero Day in Venedig, bevor es ab morgen durch die Alpen geht..Irgendwie ist radfahren entspannter als Menschenmassen..
      Aber ich verstehe, warum es so viele Menschen täglich herzieht..Venedig ist unglaublich..Eine komplette Stadt ohne Autos oder sonstige gängige öffentliche Verkehrsmittel..Dafür ein endloses Labyrinth an kleinen verwinkelten Gassen in die ich mich freudig planlos reinstürze..Nicht selten stand ich in einer Sackgasse, die an kleinen Stufen zu einem Kanal endete..
      Ich weiß nicht wie viele Brücken ich heute überquert habe aber ich Stimme Venedig zu - Räder sind hier vollkommen nutzlos..Rollkoffer übrigens auch..😅..
      Naja ich Stimme Venedig nicht in allem zu..Als ich nach dem Gassenlabyrinth auf einmal nichtsahnend auf den gigantischen Markusplatz stand, war ich so überwältigt von der Weite, dass ich mich auf nahegelegene Treppen setzte um mich an den Anblick zu gewöhnen..offensichtlich darf man auf dem Markusplatz aber nicht sitzen..es gibt eine ganze Armada von in grauen Westen eingehüllten Aufpassern, die einen in Sekundenschnelle darauf hinweisen..Wer auf dem Markusplatz sitzen möchte, muss in ein Cafe..man bezahlt dort 2€ fürs sitzen, 2€ für den Kellner und dann tatsächlich 6€, weil eine Band irgendwo leise im Hintergrund dudelt..Ach ja und da war natürlich der 7€ Cafe noch nicht dabei..😂..unglaublich..ich entscheide mich für eine Zigarette im stehen und ziehe weiter..
      Ich bin ab und an verwirrt, wer das ganze sinnlose Zeug in den Souvenirläden jemals kauft..GLASluftballons beispielsweise..ich meine wirklich.? Muss aber der Renner sein, die gibt's hier nämlich überall..Aber vielleicht sind es genau die Touristen, die sich freiwillig von Tauben anfliegen lassen, sich sogar mitten in die Taubenmenge stellen, auf einmal 20 von den Dingern auf ihnen sitzen, sich kurz freuen aber sich dann wutentbrannt wundern, dass die Täubchen eine Erinnerung hinterlassen, bevor sie wieder losfliegen..Menschen sind manchmal wirklich dumm..kann man nicht anders sagen..😂..
      Nach einem Tag geplantem Verlaufen, quetsche ich mich wieder in den Bus, der mich zurück zu Kevin aufs Festland bringt..Die Alpen rufen..yihaaa..🙃..      Baca lagi

      Gorgeous day in Venice

      Venice is amazing! We’ve seen a lot of old towns, but this is incredible. Perfect weather, not too crowded - couldn’t have asked for better.

      When we arrived at Piazzale Roma by bus, we decided to head off on foot to explore the city. We walked for 30 min or so through all these small streets and over canals until we got to Saint Mark’s square. We went into Doge’s palace, saw the prison and the bridge of sighs. Simply amazing. On our walk over we had to take a gondola ferry - it was only 2 euro and literally carried us across one canal. But it was nice to get on a gondola as we won’t be hiring one while we’re here - just too expensive. So it gave us a feel.

      We walked down to Ponte de Rialto, and then took a water taxi in the grand canal just for kicks. We also ended up touring the Teatro La Fenice (the opera house). Went to an open market and ate some awesome food and desserts.

      Overall it was the best day … saw so much, just soaked it all in.      Baca lagi

      Last day in Venice

      Today was our last day in Venice. The weather was beautiful again, which was a nice way to end. We went up to Saint Mark’s Camponile - it’s the bell tower in Saint Mark’s square, and is the tallest building in Venice. It was built in the 1500’s, but collapsed in 1902. They rebuilt it in 1912. We didn’t have to climb it this time - they have an elevator now that gets you to the top.

      We also went to the St Mark’s Basilica - it was a bit disappointing in that you couldn’t sit down at all to fully enjoy it, and it was really crowded. Actually I found Venice strange in that there was little in the way of benches or anything to sit on. And if you found a place to sit, on steps for example, there were hired people walking around telling you to stand up. Made it tough.

      We headed back to our campground during the afternoon and swam a bit in the pool. Was a refreshing break. ! Then we get headed back to the city to see Venice in the night - very nice. Wandered the canals, saw St Marks square lit up and rode a water taxi one last time down the grand canal.

      Venice was amazing - so unique and definitely a bucket list item checked off.      Baca lagi

      In Venedig sind wir durch die kleinen Gassen geschlendert und haben dabei schöne kleine Läden gesehen. Dabei haben wir auch einen Maskenladen entdeckt und durften mit den selbstgemachten Masken anprobieren und Bilder machen 😊Baca lagi

      Venedig am Morgen

      Wochenlang habe ich auf diese Momente hingefiebert! Venedig „ganz für mich allein“! Bin um 5.45 los gezogen und war um 5.50 an der Rialto Brücke. Von dort bin ich zum Markusplatz und ich muss gestehen, ich hatte Herzklopfen! Dort ganz allein zu sein (abgesehen von etwa 4 Straßenkehrern) war ein unbeschreiblicher Moment. Bin dann weiter Richtung Wasser und dann durch die Gassen zurück zur Rialto Brücke und kurz auf den Markt, aber es war erst 7.15 und der öffnet erst um 7.30. Auf dem Weg in die Wohnung habe ich mir einen Espresso und ein Cornetto con Crema gegönnt und als ich da so saß schaltet die Kellnerin die Musik an und es spielt Un Estate Italiana! Das war ein irrer Gänsehaut-Moment 🥰🥰🥰🥰Baca lagi

      Vivacious Venice: I 💚🤍❤️you!

      Anxiety a plenty this morning when we discovered there was a transportation strike on in Venice! That pre-purchased Vaporetta (water taxi ) pass will now be a waste of money! Oh, well, the best laid plans can often go awry when travelling! 🧳 …panic attack sadly ensued as I tried to get assistance with the problem 😢

      I must admit that the MSC staff were not very helpful with information on how to make our own way to Venice from the huge ship port at Marghera. This was disappointing and made me feel a little bit sad. Deep breaths and I got over it…. Just!

      Arrival: I am currently wandering the alleyways, bridges and canals in central Venice . I cannot believe how beautiful 😍 this city is! There is something beautiful and majestic around every single corner! I am in heaven 😇

      … six hours later, and I am absolutely in love! 💚🤍❤️ This city is like no other I have ever been to… I absolutely, totally and unconditionally, love Venice!
      I will be back! Just so magnificent, magical & splendid! Having my own personal tourist guide with Marta made it even better… She took me to the most amazing places… To her own personal favourite trattoria: Osteria Al Squero (their logo is a gondola) and it is across the way from the second last Gondolier manufacturing yard in Venice. She also took me to the best gelato 🍨 establishment in the city… Gelato Nico. I feel so privileged and lucky to have met up with her yet again! She topped off the most perfect day by gifting me a beautiful knitted King Charles and Queen Camilla set! So beautiful… Thank you Marta! 🫶🏻👑

      Every corner that you turn in Venice greets you with yet another amazing and unique, beautiful and spectacular sight. I am literally lost for words which most people know is very unusual for me! 😳🤐😝

      I can only imagine how breathtaking Venice would be in the evening and at night… I will definitely be coming back and spending at least a week in this magical city 🌃 …if I never make it back for whatever reason, I can honestly say this six hours in Venice has change my life forever… 🥰

      I took so many photos of the brilliance that overtook my senses! There were gondoliers singing as they pushed through the canals and pianists playing in St Marks Square. Just magical 🙏 this is going to require two posts… So I will make the second one soon and dedicated to the brilliance and loveliness of Marta!

      Marta took me to have favourite area in Venice, less touristy: Dorsoduro; meaning hard back due to the earth it is built on, It did not disappoint. We ate delicious 🤤 Cicchitti with refreshing Aperol Spritz (yes! Again!). Robyn, when I visit, we shall buy a breadstick and create our own toppings for some of our own Cicchitti! 🥖 I know I’m going on & on but I can’t help it! This city is splendiferous! Marta took me to a quaint workshop she knows where I was able to speak with the owner & glassblower and buy a precious glass wine 🍷 tumbler made by him. Every time I drink from it I am going to have true love ❤️ in my heart for the most picturesque and mesmerising city in the world 🌍 🇮🇹      Baca lagi
