Morning? Wow it'a almost afternoon already, those extra hours of sleep were neccesary apparently. Actually more physical than mentally, I woke up feeling like I was overrun by thousands of New Zealands sheeps. We had to say goodbye to Berlin's Bar and the guys there, including the crazy Kiwi man who lived in his broken bus. The road was beautifull again despite some rain on the drive down to Reefton. There we did some shopping and tank some diesel. Ready to head further down to Hanmer springs, a really nice village with lots of cafe's and restaurants and people walking in towls going from hotel to the indoor pool. Strange right? Well we went searching for the tracks and found them just outside the other end of town. We parked and did an easy but muddy track together and after these 7k I went full throttle for the hard ones: Red Rock, Eeny Meeny, Upper dog stream, Jolliffe Saddle, Fir trail and .... Detox and Mach 1. I will not forget Jolliffe and Detox since it tested my skills in down hill a bit to much haha. I fell on both tracks, and the first in a way to sharp corner and good grab a tree instead of tumbling down hill. The second on Detox was way to slippery and the bike just vanished underneath me and I could jump off it and kept my balance on my feet haha. (Picture added) gopro had it all captured😂.I finished with mach 1 ( also max speed there ) and exhausted but full of adrenaline I returned to my lovely girlfriend who was sunbathing in the park. We washed the bikes
I did a quick shower since i was all muddy myself.
We went to Hanmer downtown (the town is not bigger than 2km I guess) for a well deserved diner.
A fun fun fun place to eat, loads of crazy people and couples 😉. Afterwards we found a nice spot next to the mountainbike tracks to camp for the night hurray excellent day.Read more
