    Torremolinos, Spain

    March 13, 2019 in Spain ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

For a welcome change, Brian and Christine made the short drive to Torremolinos. Roger, Tory and Charles went off Nerja to see caves and Frigiliana to see friends.

Torremolinos has a VERY long boardwalk, lined with restaurants and shops. We walked about an hour and then stopped for lunch. Christine had anchovies “cooked” in lemon juice. Delicious! She had not had them since Italy. Brian had a huge salad and gazpacho. The presentation was interesting. First he got a bowl of puréed tomato soup then they brought a tray of chopped tomatoes, chopped green peppers, croutons, chopped celery so you can customize your soup.

Christine's watch died shortly after we got here so she bought a 9 Euro replacement and a summer clutch. We have not done much shopping but there is still time.

We tried to visit the Old Town but our GPS had other ideas and took us home!

There were a number of intricate sand sculptures on the beach. The only pictures we took!

    Benalmedina Marina

    November 10, 2017 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

This is marina just to the west of Torremolinos and Malaga, it was described in one of the guides we read as a bit Disneyesque like a 'theme park', and it is definitely a little weird but not too expensive and nice and quiet. The first three photos are of the marina area photo 4 is of a Junk that does tourist cruises there was also the obligatory Black Pearl pirate ship and numerous speed boats. Photo 5 shows an Irish boat in the marina and his small satellite dish fixed to the quay! Photo 6 is an automated sex shop, only on the Costa's!!
We are going to use this as our base to go to Malaga ( the city) we are already in the region.

    Malaga town

    November 11, 2017 in Spain ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

Well we did it we went to Malaga, it's big both in height and area. To get there the bus drove through Torremolinos it is a bit of a dive. During our time in Malaga we stayed the old town district and yes Chris you would be proud of us we went to the Picasso Museum. I can admit that there are 2 we only went one and I know he is very famous and his work sells for millions but.... we weren't especially impressed. I quite liked the jugs/urns and john was most impressed with his early work as it most closely resembled reality . Sorry there are no photos because as you can imagine photography is not allowed, but have taken piccy of brochure. The majority of the rest of our day was spent walking around the Alcazaba de Malaga and Castillo de Gibralfaro both very impressive to look at and with wonderful views. But we did see the Roman Amphitheater and the outside of the Cathedral and a squirrel. As I have lots of Photos I will put 6 more on a separate post.
Photo 1 is off Amphitheater with Alcazaba in background
Photo 2 4and 6 are inside the Alcazaba (4is the squirrel)
Photo 3and 5 of the semi restored carvings and artwork
