Highway 1 von Monterey nach SLO

    February 24 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

Read more

    Fahrt über Ventura nach Nipomo

    March 3 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Read more

    Avila Beach - Strandtag

    March 4 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Read more

    Pacific Coast Highway No. 1

    June 21, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    Pacific Coast Highway

    June 17, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

A long haul up the coast from LA to Cambria. We expected to see pelicans (they are everywhere). We did not expect to see elephant seals. And we were delighted to see sea otters, even if only from a distance.

    Camping at San Simeon Creek

    September 22, 2016 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

We were a little unlucky this day. We wanted to camp at Big Sur but all three Campgrounds there were closed due to fire in the forests.
The next three campgrounds were full so we picked this one when it was already dark.
    So far so good.
Two problems only: due to a drought the restrooms and showers were closed to save water.
At night (1 am) when we were already asleep a young couple came with their RV and said they reserved this spot. After some discussions we agreed to move our car so they can put their huge RV there... (We were a bit pissed because there was no sign "reserved" and there were lots of other spaces left...)

    #28 convinced by locals

    October 12, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We started the day in Morro Bay, walking down the pier with a coffee in our hand, hiked the black hill to overseeing the bay and the Morror Rock and had various chats with locals!
All of them recommended „sea chest“ in Cambria as one of the best fish restaurants!
So we decided to give it a try, knowing they take no reservations and we have to queue at least one hour before opening 5:30pm. Last convincing point was that we were allowed to drink wine while waiting 💁🏽‍♀️
We got a stunning table to watch the sunset while eating the best calamari steak ever!!!

    Day Trip to Pismo Beach

    September 4, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

With it being Labor Day here in the USA, I decided to get in the car and drive to the coast. Ending up at Pismo Beach and having a great seafood lunch and a few IPA's by the pier at a place called Wooly's.

    Visiting Vineyards and Wineries

    September 13, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Had the pleasure of being driven around Paso Robles visiting our companies vineyards. Beautiful part of the world. While here we visited some lovely wineries to see the difference between the east side and the west side.

Wineries we visited included Sculptera Winery, Halter Ranch and Tablas Creek Vineyard.

Great day out finished with a late lunch at La Cosecha having a really nice Paella.

    Not drowning... waving!

    November 5, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

I mean not dead, resting!... I think, unless they got sucked into the power station.

These lazy layabouts look like a pod of beached whales but are in fact a bunch of snoozing sea lions.
This is a small group, the bludgers are all up and down the Californian coast, probably most of the west coast actually and in high numbers.

As we were looking at them a Argentinian man who moved to the US in the 70’s and is now a volunteer at one of the viewing spots asked us if we had any questions.
    I did.
From the late 1700’s American sealers hunted Australian seals practically to extinction and they have never fully recovered to this day.
I wanted to know how come the Americans practically wiped out our seals but obviously left their own alone.
Answer: They didn’t, they wiped theirs out completely then got stuck into ours.

What happened is, later the Americans found the last surviving 50 or so on a island off Mexico, they captured these and moved them to California where they have now bred up into good numbers.
Mexico though is probably lamenting the demise of their last seals, though seeing most Mexicans want to get into America they can’t really complain if some of their folk get the gold ticket entry.
