TravelerSharon after a swim in Lake Taupo when visiting Karen & Paul Evans. The lake was a beautiful temperature and incredibly flat. Sharon also went for a ride on the JetSki with Karen while Chris an Paul stayed on the beach checking out the goings on with the binoculars
TravelerAccomodation in Orewa was average to say the least so we bounced down to Red Beach to set up camp. Red Beach is right beside Orewa Beach and was just stunning. Went for a walk along the beach, dinner from the hamburger shack at the camp ground and enjoyed beautiful weather. Easily the tightest parking spot we has but it was a lovely campground.
TravelerAs kids, Chris used to holiday here so Orewa had some very fond memories, especially seeing the old New Zealand Railways holiday flats still operating. In Orewa we finally found our feed of oysters which Sharon just devoured! Lovely walk along the beach and look around the shops
TravelerWhangārei was very special as Sharon caught up with her great Uncle Lester and Aunty Mavis who have a lifestyle block with about 12 miniature horses on it. The last time they saw Sharon was in hospital after her accident. Sharon was in her element seeing the horses and we enjoyed lunch and a good catch up with her lovely relations.
Traveler Arrived home having travelled 2,088kms (main travelling kms) over 11 days which worked out to be around 35 hours driving
