      Leave to Nusa Lembongan

      Went to Sanur to take a ferry that lead me to Nusa Lembongan.
      At the harbour I met a English couple and we spent little time together. They took a vacant time for their job and hit the road to explore countries in south east Asia. There seems really cool people, like them a lot.
      Since I don’t have many days left I had to decide which island I wanted to explore.
      Ghilis, penida o Lembongan? I eventually discard Ghili cause they are bit too far and maybe not my kind of tourism (?).
      I wanted to do Penida but Lembongan seemed the most suitable choise.

      Here is so relaxing, there is no car, less people and no crowds.
      Everyone are so nice (tourist and locals), feels like here times pass slower.
      I did some kayak in the mangrovie forest (not so worth it) and snorkelling in Nusa penida… I have ear injury so I couldn’t go deep but I’ve seen astounding see flora and fauna!! Beautiful 😍😍😍 all kind of fishes and 3 tortoises 🐢 (one was so big and I swimmed 10 cm to it 😍😍)      En savoir plus

      Nusa Lembogan Day 1

      Snorkelling today. Despite Frans aversion to riding on a moped the guy turned up at our hotel at 7.30 to pick us up on one..! Luckily we only had to go 2 minutes and there was no traffic about.

      The snorkelling trip was to visit 3 spots so we set off about 8. It had actually started drizzling at this point which was slightly annoying but by the time we got to the first spot it has stopped. The water on the beach was not that warm but where we got to it was lovely. Snorkels and fins on and we were in. It was a strong current so we drifting following our guide and the boat picked us up at the other end. Lovely coral and so many fish- bright and colourful.

      Back on the boat and to the second spot just off the coast of Nusa Penida. The sea was a bit rougher here but it was a nice spot. The third spot was diamond bay which to be honest was a little bit of a let down- coral was quite dead, not too many fish and lots and lots of tourist boats. Fran managed to take a chunk out of her arm whilst getting back on the boat which wasn’t ideal- luckily it’s not too bad!

      we then drove by Manta bay- it’s not Manta Ray season so we weren’t expecting to see any but we did see huge colony’s on jellyfish- literally 1000s. Yikes. Obviously we didn’t get in the water so headed back to shore.

      Had lunch at the hotel and then got a pick up to Sandy bay beach club- is supposed to be a lovely sunset spot but we wouldn’t know as it was too cloudy! Nice chill and food and drinks though. We got back about 8 and were inspired to watch Finding Nemo which is on Netflix. So watched that and then bed.      En savoir plus

      Nusa Lembongan Tag 2

      Heute früh hat uns um 6:12 Uhr, 48 Minuten vor dem Wecker ein nahe gelegener Tempel geweckt, in dem er ein Gebet vom Feinsten von sich gegeben hat. Großartig 🥹
      Ich bin direkt wach geblieben, denn wir sollten ja zum Schnorcheln abgeholt werden.
      Gesagt getan, schon saßen wir auf einem kleinen winz-Bötchen und fuhren hinaus.
      Wir wurden in zwei verschiedene Strömungen gebracht, die extrem stark waren, heißt man war auch ziemlich schnell durch mit den ersten Korallen und Fischen. Danach ging es zum eigentlichen Manta-Point, dieser war allerdings überlaufen und unser Bootsführer hat uns zu einem anderen gebracht.
      Mir waren die Wellen viel zu stark, ich hatte nicht genug Kraft um gegen diese anzukämpfen und bin nach ein paar Minuten und ein paar Tränchen zurück zum boot. Keine Rochen aus der Nähe für mich.
      Am nächsten Spot habe ich mir die Tiere dann von oben aus angesehen.
      Dustin hatte genug Kraft und war ganz vorne mit dabei. Kam strahlend wie ein honigkuchenpferd aus dem Wasser und erzählte, wie elegant die Tiere unter und vor ihm durchs Wasser glitten.
      Zurück in der Unterkunft haben wir eine Kleinigkeit gegessen, uns auf den Roller geschwungen und noch ein wenig die Insel erkundet.
      Wir schauten uns den dead Pool, einen Dream Beach und devil‘s tear an.
      Die letzten 1,5 Stunden Sonne haben wir wieder von der Unterkunft aus genossen und haben den Abend mit einem Cocktail ausklingen lassen.      En savoir plus

      Jour 10

      Canggu -> Nusa Lembongan

      Picked up at 7am today so it was a very early start. Getting a ferry from Sanur to Nusa Lembongan so we first had an hours drive over to Sanur, with a questionable minibus driver- rules of the road don’t seem to exist and everyone is so impatient!

      We then had to wait for a bit before getting on a large speedboat for the 30 min journey over. It’s was fine and I had a little nap so that was great. They dropped us off at our hotel which was as a 5 min drive and is super cute. We have the downstairs of a little hut with a half-outdoor bathroom. The room wasn’t ready so we walked down to a beach club called Ohana’s where we settled in for some lunch and an afternoon of lounging.

      Wandered home to shower before heading to a place called the deck for sunset (which wasn’t a great sunset spot as the sunset behind the land) but did have great views back to the beach. Few beers, UNO and some dins before bed!      En savoir plus

      Nusa Lembongan Day 2

      Had planned to go to a yoga class this morning but woke up with a bit of an upset stomach so I went back to sleep. It got a bit better but wasn’t great all day- though managed to power through. They call it ‘Bali Belly...!’

      We had planned to hire bikes (bicycles not mopeds!) from a woman down the road and explore the island, so we wandered down there about 11.30 in the end and got two pink bikes (50k each for the day, so less than £3). They weren’t in great condition but what can you do for that price!

      We cycled up to the top of the island and stopped off for a drink- it was a bit cloudy by this point which was nice, but as we got back on our bikes frans flip flop broke. We decided to go back to the hotel which was on the way to the south anyway and as we approached it started hammering it down with rain. So we ran into the hotel and dried off over lunch!

      We set off again towards the bridge linking Nusa Lembongan with Nusa Ceningan. We took the long route because it avoided the massive hill! Took us past the more rural parts of the island and then to the bridge which is a very narrow bridge - only enough space to pass two bikes - slightly hairy! This took about 45 minutes on rickety Nike’s so we were quite tired by this point and stopped for a quick drink. The dark clouds were appearing by now so we didn’t stop too long and headed back. We made it most of the way back but got caught in a pretty heavy downpour!

      Once we got home we packed up and showered before heading to the beach for a meal at Ginger and Jamu- lovely place though the beach was very very windy!      En savoir plus

      Insel Lembongan

      Die Insel Lembongan versprühte ein wenig mehr den balinesisch-hinduistischen (Räucherstäbchen) Spirit als Lombok. Hier fand man auch vergleichsweise mehr Infrastruktur und Umweltbewusstsein vor: Trinkwasser wurde gerne nachgefüllt, um den Plastikflaschenverbrauch zu senken; und in einem Café gab’s sogar Rabatt, wenn man aufgesammelten Müll abgab. 👍🏽 An jeder Strassenecke waren mehr oder minder grosse hinduistische Tempel zu beäugeln. Jeder Hauseingang schien seinen eigenen Schrein zu haben, der immer wieder mit kleinen Opfergaben geschmückt wurde. An der Strandpromenade, die auch gleichzeitig Hafensteg war, tummelte sich das Leben mit Touristen als auch Waren, die hier be- und entladen wurden. ⚓️

      Wir probierten uns gerne Tag ein, Tag aus durch die unterschiedlichen Warungs, bei denen das Essen mal 5 Minuten dauerte und manchmal ’ne Stunde, und es immer wieder eine Überraschung war, was man letztendlich bekam. 😅 Ein besonders schickes Restaurant nahe unseres Surfspots hatte einen traumhaften Blick auf den noch vor kurzem ausgebrochenen Vulkan „Agung“, der sich beim Sundowner vor unseren Augen auftat. 🌄
      Steffi führte den Nasi Index ein. 🍛 Maggi entdeckte bei einem mobilen Essensstand ihr neues Leibgericht „Gado Gado“. 🍲 Rapha machte uns den Surf Spot Guide. 🏄🏼‍♂️ Und Séb redete nur noch vom Surfbus „Campstar“ als neues Projekt für Europa. 🚐

      Alles in allem eine schöne Insel mit vielen weiteren Highlights (wie Mantarochen Tauchen, Buddha Statuen Schnorcheln, Mangroven Kayaken u.v.m), die wir vor lauter Surfen leider gar nicht mehr geschafft haben. Es gibt also viele gute Gründe um wiederzukommen... 😜

      Das einzige Lowlight war leider, dass wir 2 in unserer ersten Unterkunft von Bettwanzen zerstochen wurden; besonders Séb hat‘s heftig erwischt. Sofort wechselten wir die Unterkunft. Kleiner Trost war, dass wir danach eine sehr schöne neue Bleibe mit Meerblick gefunden hatten. Dieses tierische Erlebnis hätten wir uns dennoch gern erspart, auch wenn es bei einer Weltreise wahrscheinlich unvermeidbar ist! 😖      En savoir plus

      Gili Trawangan

      Heute sind wir nach Gili T weiter gefahren, Bella und ich haben uns ein Doppelzimmer für 4,50€ die Nacht pro Person mit Frühstück gegönnt. Abends sind mal wieder feiern gegangen, da Gili T eine Partyinsel ist.En savoir plus

      Nusa Lembongan, Indonesie

      Tussen de Gili's en Bali ligt ook nog Nusa Penida en Nusa Lembongan. Dit eiland is minder toeristisch dan de andere delen, maar het staat bekend om het indrukwekkende zeeleven. We zien dus Manta Ray's en de prachtigste kleuren vissen en koraal omdat het water heel helder is. Het is de laatste avond dat Chaar en Sab bij elkaar zijn, want Chaar gaat terug naar Ubud en Sab gaat naar Jakarta voor haar vaders verjaardag. We pakken dus lekker uit met een etentje!En savoir plus

      Bei Ebbe sind wir in nördliche Richtung am Strand entlang gelaufen. Dort säumen sich Hotels gemischt mit einfachen Behausungen.
      In zweiter Linie sind wir wieder zurück gelaufen, da sieht man überwiegend einfache Hütten, viel Müll und zwischendurch Warungs, Kioske oder Tauchschulen bzw. Roller-Vermietungen.
      Bei der sympatischsten Tauchschule die wir gefunden haben, wie soll es anders sein, arbeitet der Spanier Raffa und hat uns bestens über alles informiert. Dort wird Benny morgen mal ein paar Tauchgänge buchen und ich hab hoffentlich auch noch Platz auf dem Boot, um zum Schnorcheln mitkommen zu können.
      Südlich von unserem Hotel gibt es einige Lokale direkt am Strand, wo wir bei Sonnenuntergang zu Abend gegessen haben.
      Den Absacker genießen wir in unserem Hotel zwischen Pool und Strand auf einer Strand-Muschel.

      More yoga, surf, and beach dogs :-)

      More time spent on Nusa Lembongan - and it’s already the end of week 2 of the yoga teacher training :-O You will see some evidence of my practice in the pics as we are now encouraged to develop our own sequence to practice daily at home.

      We celebrated the achievement of week 2 with some radlers in a beach bar :-) and finally I painted my toe nails :-))))

      The other part of today’s post is dedicated to the many beach dogs on Nusa Lembongan that we see every day - all of which very skinny. Similar to South America, many dogs do not have a fixed home but roam around and scavenge for food/are fed by different persons every day. Or they feed on the daily offerings that the locals put into the streets every morning day to appease the gods and spirits and bring good fortune to every one who passes by.

      Tomorrow’s day off will feature a snorkeling trip to hopefully see manta rays and surfing in the afternoon, yeah!      En savoir plus
