      Universal studios

      Today we woke up super early to head to universal. Molly tahnee and I arrived 2 hours before opening to try get a fast pass and ensure we get to Mario world. Surprisingly all of japan had the same sentiment and all the fast passes were sold out. As soon as the gates open we all sprint to Mario world. We went on the ride and felt like real life mariocard with the vr headsets. We then went to Jurassic world and went on the flying dinosaur in the singles line and got soaked on the boat ride. We then went to Harry potter world and lined up for ages. We watched water world in japanese and tried to follow the storyline. The crowd was very quiet with no woohooing. We spent the rest of the day fitting in as many rides as we can and beat Nathan and Alessias attempt 8/5. We then went out to dinner in a smokey bar and went to a gaming bar to play mariocart on an old school console.もっと詳しく

      Jour 7 Kinosaki

      Nous quittons Kyoto ce matin sous la pluie pour Kinosaki, la ville thermale aux 7 sources chaudes.

      Le trajet est très agréable car le train est direct (2h30) avec bento au tofu frit, et nous arrivons en plein centre de la petite ville de Kinosaki, adorable.

      Nous allons directement nous enregistrer à l'auberge (femmes uniquement, elle est toute petite mais vraiment belle). On nous prête un yukata, un gilet en laine, des geta (sandales en bois) et un petit panier en tissu. La chambre est magnifique, très traditionnelle et super agréable.

      Nous enfilons notre panoplie (au début je ne suis pas très à l'aise car on ne croise personne comme ça, mais au fil des heures plein de gens ont fait pareil, ouf !) et nous allons faire le tour des onsen (bains publics).

      C'est une expérience vraiment très chouette: nous nous deshabillons dans les vestiaires avec les autres femmes (à oilpé), nous faisons une petite douche assises et direction les bains, intérieurs et extérieurs, qui sont naturellement très chauds (40*).
      On fait l'enchaînement tranquillement, ce n'est même pas la plaie de se changer à chaque fois grâce au yukata en coton.
      Je vous mets des photos Google car bien entendu elles étaient interdites à l'intérieur.

      On a fait 4 onsen supers, Dorine est motivée pour un 5e mais je préfère rentrer tranquillement.

      Ensuite on chercge un endroit où manger. On vit d'abord notre première expérience de refus catégorique mais cordial de nous accueillir (car étrangères) puis nous trouvons un restaurant de fruits de mer très bien ! Merci, Nan mais oh ! 😡

      Jour 8 Kinosaki-Kyoto

      Après une bonne nuit dans la superbe chambre d'hôte de Kinosaki, nous nous préparons pour visiter la ville le matin.

      La logeuse est vraiment adorable et attentionnée, tellement que je me permets de lui offrir un badge ! Elle était ravie 🤭

      Nous prenons le funiculaire pour grimper en hauteur et visiter le Onsen Temple. C'est là qu'on remercie le protecteur des sources thermales le temps d'une visite seules dans le temple, très intimiste et agréable (malgré le fichu encens encore 🤭)

      Nous profitons de la nature et des lieux de culte et de décoration constamment de bon goût. On est plongées dans les Miyazaki à chaque instant.

      Dorine continue un peu, moi je redescend et profite d'une pause Thé Matcha/brioche à la viande avec les touristes japonais. Certains font cuire des sacs d'œufs directement dans l'eau chaude de la source: c'est super original à observer.

      Dorine veut faire du tir dans une petite boutique tenu par un vieux monsieur. Hé ben on était pas déçues : on ne comprenait rien à ce qu'il disaient, il répétant dix fois les mêmes choses, en gros il parlait tout seul et faisait se rapprocher Dorine tellement près des statuettes qu'elle les touchaient presque avec le canon... Tout ça pour "gagner" deux bagues clignotantes en caoutchouc 😂😂 c'était très drôle.

      Nous visitons quelques boutiques vraiment chouettes (adieu argent) puis nous allons attendre le train de 14h30.

      En résumé, Kinosaki aura été un de mes coups de cœurs pour le moment (si tant est qu'il y ait à en avoir car tout est toujours fantastique).

      Le trajet en train est encore une fois très paisible et simple, nous revenons à Kyoto.

      Ensuite, on trouve un excellent Izakaya (bar/resto au comptoir) où nous nous empiffrons d'un vrai festin (karaage, brochettes, fritures, Mochi salé frit, salade de pommes de terre... Bière, vin de prune et saké). C'était génial !!      もっと詳しく

      Back in Kobe

      After a day in Kyoto that saw us walking 35,300 steps — which my step app says is equal to 15 miles — we are back on the ship for the night.

      The cool breeze on the veranda is much welcome after a 90F-day … exploring bits and pieces of the city. We even have entertainment…a colorful ferris wheel across the water from us.

      Not sure what we will do tomorrow. Taking it easy is a very attractive option at the moment. The likelihood is that we will explore Kobe instead of venturing into Kyoto again.      もっと詳しく

      Himeji🏯

      Day 23-24

      Day 23

      A rather mundane day today as we just left shiga and travelled to Kobe city in Hyogo prefecture. The journey wasn’t too long only about 2 hours except we had to stand for about an hour and a half as there were just no seats as it was like being on the London tube during rush hour. With our massive backpacks I’m sure you can imagine just how hellish that was!!

      Once we arrived we dropped our bags off at our hostel and wondered around the Kobe harbour land and the huge shopping malls they have with every brand you could ever think of and a bunch of brands that we will never be able to pronounce! We then finally got to try the famous Teppanyaki! This is where you basically cook your own meat on a grill in the centre of your table, and we didn’t just cook any meat- we cooked Wagyu beef!! Kobe is famous for wagyu beef and is considered one of the highest grade Wagyu beef breeds in Japan. It certainly lived up to this high expectation as it was DELICIOUS! It just melted in my mouth and was to die for. Of course, it’s also a really fun experience to try out teppanyaki and very rewarding when it tastes so good!!

      After this we wondered around for a little while longer and then headed back to our hostel for an early night.

      Day 24
      We started off today with toast and coffee before heading to the chocolate museum. When Jacob told me there was a chocolate museum I said we absolutely HAVE to go, and not really knowing what to expect I guess it does exactly as it says on the tin! There were floor to ceiling glass cabinets of chocolate. Chocolate from all over the world but there was no particular description or theme to the museum just walls covered in chocolate. As we moved through to the next room it felt like walking into a fever dream. Dresses made out of chocolate wrappers filled the first half of the room and they were actually very impressive. Moving into the second half of the room was a photo booth which people were queuing for to take pictures with a fake giant chocolate bar. The people taking pictures were taking it very seriously with different poses and different props it was bizarre, so we took the mandatory photo and then ended up in the shop where we bought a bar each which were delicious!

      Feeling slightly surreal walking out of the museum we saw a sign for the “art aquarium” and we were very intrigued and rightfully so! After securing a ticket you walk through to the first room with art of fish and the ocean lining the wall and projected colours on the ceiling like an interactive immersive art exhibition!! Amongst this was tanks of fish, frogs, stingrays, salamanders, and giant tortoise! It was seriously bizarre, there was another room with a fake forest and kangaroos in? Just when I thought Japan couldn’t surprise me much more and that I was used to the Japanese artistic flair I end up being speechless! Sadly, it’s apparent that the Japanese don’t have the same level of animal protection or consideration as other countries as some of the tanks were so small it was quite sad actually.

      On the walk to our last activity of the day we made a quick stop at the earthquake memorial park which was honouring those who had lost their life in the 1995 earthquake which took the lives of over 5,000 people and read about the response and the severity of damage that it had done to Kobe city in particular.

      Our last activity of the day was silver ring making!! This was SO much fun. You start by choosing what kind of ring you want and want design and then you start sanding down your ring and then with a little machiene you polish them and then to get the desired pattern you hit it with a hammer. I have to say that Jacob was more of a natural at it than me but I’m still chuffed with how my ring turned out and it was really fun and in a very small family run shop which was lovely.      もっと詳しく

      Day 25

      Despite the on and off drizzle we decided today we would head up the Nunobiki Ropeway to the top of the mountain. As we ascended through the fog and cloud the skyscrapers dissolved into nothing and we were surrounded by a thick cloud. Seeing the occasional cable car whizz past in the opposite direction it felt very eerie!

      Once at the top we strolled through the herb gardens and made our way to the cloud forest. Walking in amongst the clouds gives everything a very “horror film” like mist and you could feel the moisture of your face and it makes your clothes slightly damp too!

      We then hiked along a reservoir to a waterfall taking lots of pictures along the way of the beautiful foggy landscape, it felt like we were in the jungle with the level of humidity and the cloud forest aspect! Enjoying the waterfalls we sat for a while and enjoyed them before hiking down the mountain and grabbing a bite to eat.

      As we were wondering along we found the “Kobe trick museum” which is basically recreating photos with art? It was slightly random but a lot of fun and then we saw the “Sherlock Holmes house”. Very intrigued we went in and it’s basically a house full of everything that the Japanese think the British are. From the queen mary model to a literal tube station it was such a strange experience!! Fake bars and stuffed animal heads it did feel like we were back in England! Everyone was dressed up as Sherlock Holmes taking pictures of this “English experience” it was very amusing for us!      もっと詳しく

      Ankunft in Kinosaki Onsen

      Nach 3h Zugfahrt von Ōsaka nach Kinosaki Onsen Station und kurzem Fußweg bin ich in meiner nächsten Unterkunft angekommen. Und jetzt werd ich zwei Nächte in einem "Zimmer in japanischem Stil" mit Futon übernachten. Bis gerade eben hab ich das völlig vergessen 😂 Umso aufgeregter bin ich jetzt. Mal gucken, ob sich das überhaupt mit Blackroll-Kissen und auf der Seite liegen macht, oder ob ich zwei ganz schlimme Nächte haben werd.
      Da das hier ein Kurort ist und dieser bekannt für die Onsen (heißen Quellen) ist, ist der Eintritt in sieben Onsen gratis. Ich muss sogar mein Tattoo nicht abkleben. Beim Check-In gab es auch nen Yukata und im Zimmer liegt die dazugehörige Anleitung. War jetzt aber auch nicht sooo schwer.      もっと詳しく

      Himeji Castle Daytrip

      We had a little excursion to the rather impressive Himeji castle. It turned out to be an excuse for more food, as they were having a student-led food festival. So instead of beating the crowds at the castle, we had an early lunch.

      The castle was really quite stunning, and evey bit as instagramable as the cherry blossoms. The castle gardens (Koko-en) were calming and absolutely beautiful.

      Universal Studio Japan

      Pour son annive, Jerem souhaitait faire Universal studio du coup on a programmer ça avec son pote de Kyoto aussi et la famille de sa femme qui était encore là!

      ⏰ À 7h15 pour y être à l'ouverture, ça pique un peu les yeux, mais il fait bon le soleil brille ☀️ une belle journée s'annonce.

      En premier on file à Jurrasic Parc, il y a qu'une seule attraction d'ouverte: flying dinosaure un grand huit où tu es non stop la tête à l'envers, avec quelques loopings bien stylé mais j'avoue que a coté des grands huit +++ du parc de Fudji Q au mont fudji ça fait tranquille !
      Ensuite on fait l'attraction de Jaw (les dents de la mer) c'est les anti requins mais au moins on voit du🦈 ^^ enfin du faux mais c'est marrant l'attraction on se ballade en bateau dans une rivière et il y a un énorme faux requin blanc qui nous suit qui fait style d'attaquer, c'est plutôt bien fait !

      Vers midi c'est direction Nintendo World celui que Jerem est trop pressé de faire. Les décors sont ouf, on s'y croirait, super coloré et tout, je vous laisse découvrir les photos et vidéos. Pour l'attraction principale on est dans un kart de Mario et on a des lunettes 👓 3D, c'est comme si on était dans le jeu on est sur la piste et on doit tirer sur les méchants. Juste le Kart est guider sur des rails on a pas full control. C'est vraiment bien fait on rigole bien 😀. Ensuite c'est pause lunch au Resto Nintendo burger 🍔frittes🍟 pour mon p'tit ricain lol avant d'aller voir un show en plein air de WaterWorld. C'est tiré d'un film des années 90. C'est vraiment bien fait dans un décors bien réalisé aussi je vous laisse découvrir un bout en vidéo et photo.

      16h on file dans le monde d'Harry Potter la encore dès l'entrée c'est vraiment stylé et on s'y croit, je vous laisse également découvrir sur les photos mais ça fait vraiment réaliste une rue typique avec les petite maisons au toit pointu. On y retrouve le magasin de baguette magique, les fameuses bières au beurre, des petites créatures du films, et le château 🏰 est aussi super bien fait. L'attraction principale est dedans mais c'est dommage car la queue est dehors et après on traverse une partie du château vite fait pour arriver à l'attraction alors que c'est super joli et plein de détails. L'attraction est vraiment stylé et ça change de genre. On est assis de travers (de côté et pas dans le sens de la marche) et ça nous emmène sur un circuit dans et autour du château (en virtuel avec des immenses écran le dehors) et ça simule tout le long qu'on vole sur un balais c'est vraiment cool. Les descentes on a l'impression qu'on descend énormément juste avec les effets visuels et les vibrations car en fait notre siège ne bouge pas énormément ! Une belle prouesse technologique.

      On finit par une attraction des Mignons, avec des écrans aussi, sympa mais on commence à être bien crevé ! A oui en parlant de Mignon vous avez du le voir sur les photos, la femme du pote à Jerem Vaness en a gagné un et la offert à Jerem du coup on a un gros bébé à ramener à la maison! Lol, déjà qu'on est bien chargé au retour (photo de notre bordel) heureusement on va récupérer notre grosse valise a Tokyo.

      On finit par faire le tour du parc dans les décors bien stylés avant de se diriger vers la gare on rentre direct à Tokyo ce soir. On doit prendre 3 métros pour faire 20km jusqu'à la gare shin Osaka 🚃🚃🚃 puis un train à grande vitesse shinkansen jusqu'à Tokyo station 🚅 où on arrive à 23h!

      On se prend des take away japonais pour le dîner, on se fait un petit festin dans le train. (cf photo!) Il faut bien finir la journée d'anniversaire de mon petit homme même si on est dans les transports !

      23h30 on arrive à l'hôtel bien KO 😴😴, on à pris dans un autre quartier au Nord entre Ueno et Akasuka (on à du changer last min car ils avaient annulé la résa et on a vu ça dans le train !) la chambre est super stylé 🥰 est très grande (j'avais oublié de filmer mais à Osaka on était dans une chambre minuscule avec moins d'un mètre de place entre le lit et le mur d'un côté, 0m de l'autre! Et un couloir de même pas 2 mètres pour aller dans la salle de bain, on était un peu a l'étroit.

      Au compteur 🚶🚶 14km, mais depuis notre massage nos jambes vont mieux ^^      もっと詳しく
