    December 28, 2024 in Australia ☁️ 30 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Today we woke up at 5:30 a.m. because, as already mentioned, our sport was a bit risky on a road. As everything was damp, there were still a lot of mosquitoes in the morning. So we provisionally packed up our car and drove to the harbor for a coffee. We had a wonderful breakfast there as the sun rose. Afterwards, Pauline went for a walk while I washed up and took care of the car (topped up the oil, etc.). When Pauline came back, we went to an outdoor swimming pool together. Entry is actually free there, which is of course very practical for us travelers as we can take a shower. We were both quite tired as the night had been a bit restless due to the mosquitoes, so we lay down in the shade for another hour to sleep. I left a little earlier to look around for a fishing store. While I was there, I realized that we had unfortunately left my shoes by the breakfast benches before our visit to the outdoor pool. When I went back to look for them, they were gone and unfortunately stolen. This is a bit inconvenient as I now only have flip flops and my Birkenstocks. But that's enough as I can walk barefoot quite a lot, but I'm still going to buy some walking boots, albeit second-hand, as the risk can be higher in the outback and I need sturdy shoes for longer walks. Today we left Bowen and drove towards Arlie Beach. Once there, we immediately noticed the turquoise water and the very touristy location. Even though there is a lot going on, the beaches are beautiful and the town is diverse and lively. We walked along the shopping street together and then split up for a while, as I wanted to go to the beach to swim and relax and Pauline wanted to see more of the city. We met up again just before our parking ticket would have expired and of course I had a look around the city beforehand. We had dinner with a sea view in another parking lot.
For the evening, we used Google Maps to find a rest area with a free campsite on the way. However, it was 1.5 to 2 hours' drive away. As Pauline hadn't been able to sleep well the last few nights, she dozed off during the drive and I had a very relaxing night's sleep. When we got there, we put up the tent, Pauline lay down and I sat down in front of the car to watch a documentary and relax a bit. After that, I went to bed too.

    Deutsch:

When I woke up this morning, I didn't know what great things were going to happen today. At first, I just sat in front of the car, watched a bit of YouTube and drank coffee, as Pauline had slept in late. Once we'd had breakfast together, we packed everything up and headed south. The plan for today was to find a remote spot where we could sleep and really be alone in the Australian countryside. No sooner said than done, after a while we took a few small roads off the main road and ended up on a long beach. It looked like a good place to park our car. And that's exactly what we did. As I said, it was a beautiful, very long beach with white sand and a turquoise sea. I did a bit of fishing, flew with the drone, we went for a walk, caught crabs, played cards and cooked a great meal. Of course, we also went swimming and generally really enjoyed our time there. In the evening, we sat together for a while and made a fire.
When Pauline was in bed, I went down to the water again, went for a little night walk and was actually able to catch a fish with the landing net in the shallow water, which I used as bait of course. And what can I say, I managed to catch a really big baramundi, what a fish. I am really, really happy about this catch. After this success I could fall into bed blissfully.

  • Entspannter Tag am Strand

    December 30, 2024 in Australia ☀️ 29 °C

    Deutsch:

Today we woke up to a wonderful view of the sea. The plan for the day was to stay here at the campsite again and just spend a very relaxing day. So we went swimming and went for a short walk. In the afternoon we cooked and as it looked like it was going to rain, we put up my awning to test it out. The gift fits perfectly and would protect us well from the rain (very cozy).
Even though it was only drizzling, we stayed in the cozy tent and played cards. After the little shower we collected firewood
and prepared for the evening. We spent it together with a small noodle soup by the fire. After Pauline went to bed, I of course went looking for bait fish again. During my little night walk, I was lucky enough to catch another one. Of course, I put it on a hook and cast it out as bait. And what can I tell you, I was able to significantly increase the size of yesterday's baramundi. This is an absolutely exceptional fish. I'm very proud and as if that wasn't enough, I then caught a second big one that was about the same size as yesterday's

  • Neujahr

    December 31, 2024 in Australia ☀️ 29 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
First of all, I would like to wish you all a happy new year. Of course, we woke up to our beautiful view again and drank coffee. Then we dried the tent and put everything away so that we could set off. Today we had a distance of around 3 hours ahead of us to reach the next larger village. About halfway there we stopped in a small outback village and ate a burger, which was surprisingly tasty. After arriving in Jappoon, we had to fill up first, I rolled into the gas station with the last drop of gas. It wouldn't have been too bad if we'd run out of gas, as I still have a tank on the roof, but I don't like to break it. I then dropped Pauline off at a launderette and went shopping. When everything was done, we cooked in the parking lot of the laundromat and ate like kings. After dinner, we went to a park by the water, showered and got ready and then went out to celebrate New Year's Eve. The first thing we did was watch a free live concert in the Stadtgarten and then went to several small, very nice bars. At midnight we wished each other a happy new year and could still hardly believe that we were in Australia together. We stayed at the club until 2:00 a.m. (until closing time) to celebrate and had a great time.

    January 1, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 28 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
We got up this morning and of course I was still a bit rumpled. First we drove back to the waterfront, where I lay down in the shade of a palm tree for two hours and slept, and when I woke up again I had coffee. Then Pauline went for a walk while I cooked myself some warps. When she was back we sat by the water for a while and then drove on, as we wanted to visit a look out nearby. Once there, we walked a short circuit and passed several beautiful spots with great views. It was not without reason that the route was called Turtle look out, you could see lots of turtles everywhere. As we drove on, I got a craving for coffee, so we stopped at a small coffee shop and had the best iced coffee I've ever had.
When we arrived in a village where we wanted to spend the night, we drove a small track to find a place for the night. This little track took us to a small park where there are actually no roads. As bold as we are, we parked in the last corner (there was a hidden recess that looked like it had been measured out for us) and set up camp. Even though we were on the edge of the village, nature looked beautiful.

  • Surfbrett

    January 2, 2025 in Australia 🌧 23 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Today we woke up in the sweet little day. I have to say, the place looked just as beautiful during the day as it does at night. You feel like you're in the middle of nature. After we'd had our coffee and woken up a bit, we made our way to another park because we wanted to make pancakes and there were supposed to be the designated hot plates there. Once there, we had a look around and as there were unfortunately only fire-powered grills, we made the pancakes in my pan. During a short walk, I was lucky enough to see a wild bearded dragon. This was of course a great experience as I once kept one in a terrarium. After our sweet lunch, we decided to go for a walk, which turned out to be longer than planned. Nevertheless, it was a great and relaxing walk as it wasn't that hot due to the rainy weather. On the way back, we stopped off at the beach and had a drink before heading back to the car. There we cooked some pasta for dinner in our little park and then set off, as we wanted to cover a bit more distance again. On the way to Bundaberg, I met up with someone to buy a surfboard. The free campsite near Bundaberg really isn't that great. It's right on the road, but it's perfect for us when we're passing through and therefore the best choice to save time.

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
As already mentioned, we slept at a public campsite right next to the road. The next morning, however, we only had a coffee there as we decided to have breakfast somewhere else in a nice spot. So we packed everything up and drove on. Once again, we managed to fill up to the millimeter without breaking the canister on my roof. There was also a nice spot by a river near the filling station. We decided to have breakfast there. I cooked myself warps and Pauline a rice pudding. In the parking lot we also met a nice Australian who we talked to for a while, he travels by motorcycle. As we drove on, we passed through some beautiful forests and stretches of countryside. In one of the eucalyptus forests, I had the idea of stopping at a farm and asking if they knew if you could find koalas here. Unfortunately, no one was at home, so we wandered around on our own. When we arrived in Noosa, we wanted to find a parking space on the beach so we could have a swim and explore the area. Unfortunately, the traffic was a disaster and the area was so crowded that we couldn't find a parking space. So we drove a little further to a less touristy spot where we were able to park and go to the beach. The waves were huge and we had a lot of fun swimming in them. After the beach we had a shower and drove into the city of the Sunshine Coast. First, we went for a walk and stopped at a small sports club pub. There was live music and we were able to watch the athletes play a game similar to boccia. We had a drink there, played cards and enjoyed the atmosphere. After a while, we set off to prepare our warps. We had our dinner on a beautiful jetty with the best view over a river. The last hour's drive to another free campsite near the town passed very quickly and the place seemed quite nice so we pitched our tent.

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Today we slept in a free public campsite. So of course we weren't alone in the morning, but that's not so bad as all our neighbors were actually very nice. The small campsite was right next to a slightly larger river and very close to the city. So we sat down on the bank and had breakfast. We had porridge with homemade plum jam. We cooked plums and then ate them with our porridge. It tasted absolutely perfect and was a great start to the day. After eating, we lay down in the sun for a while and I made a few more cubes with the fishing rod. Then we made our way to a nearby village as we wanted to go for a walk. On the way, we saw a sign for a garage sale that we would like to visit the next day. Once we arrived, we had a look around, bought something to eat for lunch and sat down by a small pond to rest for a while. On the way back, we sat down on a beach to watch the kitesurfers and walked the rest of the way back along the beach. When we got back to the car, it was relatively windy again, so we looked for a place to cook a little further away from the car behind some bushes, as it was much less windy there.
We spent the evening cooking there, playing a few games and chatting. It was a really nice last evening. After dinner, Pauline went to bed and I sat down by the water and went fishing. And I was actually lucky again and managed to catch a smaller fish and a relatively large freshwater eel.

  • Abschied

    Deutsch:

When I woke up this morning, Pauline had already walked a few meters. She wanted to watch the sunrise and take a shower. When I was awake too, I brushed my teeth and got the car ready to pick her up from her place. She went for a coffee and was kind enough to bring me a To Go, which of course made me very happy :) Together we drove to the garage sale I mentioned yesterday and had a look around. Unfortunately, the selection was a little smaller than I had hoped for yesterday. I only found one ring. After the garage sale, we drove into town because we wanted to go to a beach to spend Pauline's last day before her flight. We happened to pass a small market, which we strolled through, of course. There were lots of really great things there and lots of delicious-looking food. I bought some falafel and Pauline a cookie, so we sat down in the semi-shade by the sea. When it was time to leave, I also took a quick shower and we made our way back together. To round off our lovely time, Pauline wanted to invite me to dinner at Guzman X. Gomez, a Mexican restaurant. When we arrived, we both ordered a burrito menu which tasted really delicious but was also quite a lot. To digest something, we watched the athletes who were doing sports next door and took a walk around their sports college. I noticed a really cute college parking lot that was a bit hidden and very quiet. I decided to spend the night there. After the walk, I unfortunately had to take Pauline to the airport. Once there, we said goodbye with heavy hearts, now we won't see each other again for over three months:/ When I had said my final goodbyes, I drove back to the college and prepared my car for the night. When that was done, I sat in front of my car for a while but as I was still so full, I didn't cook anything and went straight to sleep.

  • Erledigen der Einkäufe

    January 6, 2025 in Australia ☁️ 27 °C

    Deutsch:

Today was a very, very busy day. The first thing I did was wake up in the college parking lot. Relatively early, of course, because I was afraid of getting caught. Then I made coffee there and woke up a bit. Now I had to completely clean out the back of my car, sweep it out a bit and put it back in order. Once that was done, I went to the DIY store, but unfortunately I didn't find what I needed there (a tarpaulin for my roof tent). At least I bought some herb seeds that I want to try planting. Next stop is a second-hand store as I need new hiking boots and I was lucky. There was a pair of leather hiking boots with steel toe caps and they fit like a glove. Luckily I was able to stop myself and didn't buy anything else. Once I had done that too, I went to a large shopping mall with lots of stores, where I first bought a frozen yogurt. The stand has a selection of seven different flavors and a large counter with toppings. The price is calculated per 100g and as a little game you can guess how much you've loaded up and if it's right, you get the cup for free. I was 8g off, but it still tasted delicious. Now I went to the camping store in the mall as I needed a little fishing advice, down here in the no longer tropical waters the fishing is quite different and I also wanted to find out about the general fish population. Once that was done, I met up with Rachel, a friend of my mother's who she met on a skiing vacation, we went out for a Mexican meal again and had a good, long chat. After the nice meeting, I went to various stores to buy groceries. I also went to the fishing store because I needed some metal leaders. My destination for the next few days is Bribi Island, where I would like to fish for bull sharks. Once I arrived on Bribi Island, however, I have to say that the paths were a little different than expected. I have to drive through sand 20-30 cm high, which is not particularly easy despite my 4 × 4 vehicle. Nevertheless, it was fun and I finally arrived at a very nice spot. You can only get there with the right car. Now I set up camp, explored the area, walked through knee-deep mud in the mangroves and hunted mudcrabs. After the sun had set, I lit a fire and prepared everything for the barbecue. I haven't had a barbecue for months and was really looking forward to eating a coarse sausage with some bread and vegetables. After dinner, I sat by the fire for a while and then went to bed.

  • Entspannter angeltag

    January 7, 2025 in Australia 🌩️ 27 °C

    Deutsch:

This morning I had a nice visit while drinking coffee. Three monitor lizards were sunbathing next to me. After my breakfast, two Australians came to my spot and I had a chat with them. They were very nice and were also here to fish. We fished through the day and chatted from time to time. Unfortunately, I only managed to catch one small fish, but it was still a nice and relaxing day.
For lunch I had 425g of beet and some bread rolls. While I was eating, a relatively large kangaroo came up to me, almost as if it wanted something. The monitor lizards weren't exactly scared either and kept trying to steal my bait. Towards the afternoon, I started collecting a lot of firewood as I wanted to sit by the fire for a long time today. After sunset, I started cooking my Asian noodles again and lit the fire at the same time. I spent the rest of the evening sitting by the fire and listening to an audio book.

  • Letzter Tag Bribi Island

    January 7, 2025 in Australia ⛅ 27 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
Like the last few days, today should be very relaxed again. I woke up and had a long, long coffee. Afterwards, I sat in the semi-shade and watched the monitor lizards that were scattered around my car. Around midday I cooked lentils and then prepared to go for a walk through the mangroves. On this walk through the mangroves I of course saw some varans and the beautiful mountains of the Glas Mountains. After returning from my walk, I cleaned my tent a bit and hung up my hammock, where I took a nap for a few minutes. In the early evening I collected firewood for the night, prepared the fire pit and cooked. I spent my evening by the fire as usual, knowing that I would be leaving the island tomorrow. Just before I went to bed, it suddenly started to thunder heavily. Which isn't too bad, of course. Still, I'm always worried about my tent.

  • Angekommen bei Rachel

    January 9, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 24 °C

    Englisch:
This morning I woke up a little uncomfortably, namely on the tent floor. Apparently my airbed has a hole in it. Nevertheless, I slept reasonably well and there's nothing a coffee can't fix. So I sat in front of my car and drank my coffee and waited for everything to dry. In the meantime, I also tidied up my car and packed everything up as I was planning to leave the island today. As it looked like it was going to rain again, I quickly packed up my tent after it had dried so that it wouldn't get wet again and then tried to find the hole in my mattress with a bottle of water. Unfortunately without success. As a next step, I got in my car and drove the off-road track to the beginning of the island, while I rolled back onto the asphalt road, it started to rain. Thank goodness I left early enough. The rain wouldn't have made the track any easier. To let the rain subside a little, I went to a mall and walked around a bit, but didn't buy anything. As the weather wasn't really going to get any better over the next few days, I decided to go to Rachel today and spend a few days there. No sooner said than done, I went there and was given a very warm welcome. Rachel is a friend of my mother's who she met on vacation in Italy. We spent the rest of the day chatting, cooking delicious food and actually went to bed relatively late. I was very happy to finally be able to sleep in a normal bed again.

  • Tag in Brisbane

    January 10, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 26 °C

I had a great morning today after waking up in a normal bed. After drinking coffee, I made a quick phone call to Germany and then got ready to go into the city of Brisbane. It's about half an hour to 40 minutes by public transport. When I arrived, the first thing I did was go to a camera shop to have my camera checked. It had a problem with the memory card, which was thankfully solved, I didn't even have to pay anything and was given a memory card as a gift (which was really nice of course). Afterwards I just walked through the city and strolled through the stores. Afterwards, I wanted to take the ferry across the Brisbane River through the city, as all public transport there costs just $0.50, including the ferries. The view was simply beautiful. When the ferry docked, I went shopping, got a present for Rachel as a little thank you and made my way back home. When I got there, Rachel's daughter was already there. We cooked together, chatted and played a few games. We generally just had a nice evening.

This morning I had a coffee as usual and as it was Rachel's last day of vacation, we chatted a bit and decided to drive around Brisbane a bit. On the way, I picked up my surf fins, which I still need for my board. At the end of the trip, we grabbed some fish and chips and sat down by the sea. Thank goodness it had stopped raining. So we were able to go for a little walk. The original plan was to go and listen to live music in Brisbane in the evening. Unfortunately, this plan fell through, so I spent the evening alone at home as Rachel wasn't at home today. So I just watched a movie and played some Mario Kart before going to bed.

  • Mal wider angeln

    January 12, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 26 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
This morning, of course, I drank my coffee on the balcony as usual. At around midday, Rachel came back with her son and his girlfriend, who I then had the pleasure of meeting. I was already about to leave as I had planned to go fishing today. So I bought some bait and went to a spot I had already picked out on Google Maps. I fished there for a while and actually managed to catch a nice fish, which I released with a kiss as it was still too early to take it home. While I was fishing there, a boat came by (a kind of party boat). I had a nice chat with the staff and was allowed to go to the toilet there briefly. The boat was taking a group of pensioners, as someone was celebrating their 70th birthday today. After they all walked past me and at least half of them started a conversation with me because I was fishing, the boat refused. Everyone on the boat waved to me to say goodbye, which was quite funny and a nice encounter. When night fell, I had to leave my fishing spot in a hurry as I didn't have any mosquito spray with me and I was literally attacked. I spent the rest of the evening watching a movie and went to bed early.

  • Tatoos und tolle Aussicht

    January 13, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 28 °C

    Deutsch:

Today, for once, I woke up to an alarm clock because I have a tattoo appointment with Rachel's daughter in the city. So I had a quick coffee, got myself ready and quickly got on the bus. On the way to the studio, I saw one of the tattoos I wanted to get on someone on the bus. I've never seen this tattoo live before, it must be a sign. When we got there we chatted, I got my tattoos and then we went to eat ramen with her boyfriend. According to insider tips, this is the best ramen restaurant in Brisbane and I have to say it was really delicious. After dinner, we arranged to meet up the next day and I went into the city. The skyline is really beautiful and as silly as it sounds, it reminds me a bit of Frankfurt.
Around 16:30 I made my way home. On the way I stopped for a taco, as it's Taco Monday and one only costs three dollars, which is about 1.60€. I also bought a tattoo cream. Afterwards I drove home, quickly packed my things and made my way to a viewpoint nearby. My plan was to walk the 40 minutes from Rachel's house to the viewpoint. That went surprisingly quickly. Once there, I have to say I was really overwhelmed by the fantastic view of Brisbane at night. The big city is completely lit up at night, the bridges are federal and the skyscrapers are partially illuminated, which makes for a great picture. After sitting there for a while, I walked back and more or less went straight to bed.

    January 15, 2025 in Australia ☀️ 28 °C

    Deutsch:

    Englisch:
When I woke up today, there was unfortunately a power cut in the whole street. So there was no breakfast for me, but I sat on the balcony for a while and prepared my departure. I compared my offers and chose a garage that could do my tires the cheapest. I then tidied up my room and packed my things, as the plan for today is to drive down to the Gold Coast. Once everything was tidied up and my car was ready to go, I set off for a short walk through the forest, as I had heard that there are koalas there. I walked through the forest with my head down for about 2 hours without any luck, but on the last few meters I was actually able to spot a small, fat teddy bear. The koala was high up in a tree in a fork and was visibly relaxed and sleeping.
Thank goodness I had the big camera with me and was able to take some good pictures of him. On the way back to the car I also saw a snake, but it wasn't poisonous. Now I said goodbye to Rachel and made my way to Gold Coast at nightfall. Once there, I sat down on the rocks and fished for a while and managed to catch something. Afterwards I fell into bed in a good mood, because even though it was nice at Rachel's, I'm glad to be free in the car again.

    Englisch:
This morning I had breakfast with the best view of the sea. While I was drinking my coffee and watching the swimmers, I suddenly spotted a dorsal fin. However, on closer inspection it looked more like that of a dolphin. So, I don't think a shark swam past, which would have been a great experience for the snorkelers. After breakfast, I went for a short walk and then drove straight into town to drop off my car for a tire change. My actual plan was to stroll around the town afterwards. Unfortunately, it started to rain straight after dropping off the car. For this reason, I decided to just have a coffee at McDonald's and wait for the rain to subside. When I was able to pick up my car again, I drove to a surf store as I needed something for my board. I also bought some snorkeling equipment and went shopping. When I got back to the parking lot, I went for another little walk along the beach and enjoyed the view of the skyscrapers of the Gulf Coast. After my walk, I had dinner and went to bed.

  • Quallen und surfen

    January 17, 2025 in Australia ⛅ 26 °C

    Deutsch:

    English:
Like every morning, my day started with a café right by the sea. Afterwards, I immediately grabbed my snorkel gear and went into the water. I saw beautiful colorful fish, big and small, a big ray and a turtle. Towards the end of my snorkeling session, I was suddenly hit in the face and arm by a jellyfish. As there are no deadly jellyfish here in the south, I wasn't scared, but it still really hurt. After this scare, I took a sunbath and then got my board ready to go surfing. I have to say that surfing with a normal longboard, as I used to do, is much easier than with a shortboard. Shortboards are much more wobbly and smaller, which of course makes them more difficult to handle. Nevertheless, I really had a lot of fun in the waves and will of course try again in the next few days. After surfing, I was naturally hungry and even though it was already afternoon, I cooked myself some Asian noodles. After my refreshment, I digested something in the shade. In the early evening, I went for another walk and watched some anglers and surfers, which was of course very exciting. When I reached the top of a rocky outcrop, I sat down and watched the sunset. After my little hike, I had a wrap. I then went to bed as I wanted to go surfing the next morning.

    Englisch:
As planned the day before, I only had a quick coffee today and then I swung onto the bath. The waves were much bigger today, which made it difficult at times, but I still love the slab. I kept trying. Unfortunately, while I was surfing, I could already see the dark clouds in the sky. The weather forecast for today is bad and stormy. So I packed up my things and cooked lunch, which was ready in time for the first shower. So I got in the car and drove into town, where I strolled around for a while and took a closer look at Gold Coast. For example, I walked through a market, went to various stores, ate frozen yogurt (the selection of Australian and Rosie yogurt is incredible) and walked along the promenade. When it suddenly started to rain heavily, I took refuge in a brewery that I found by chance. There I bought myself a Drau the Australian beer, and I have to say, it wasn't that tasty. Even though there are good beers here, this wasn't one of them. Once the rain had thankfully subsided, I went back to the car and made my way to a sports venue that I had previously picked out on Google Maps on the way. I did some shopping there as I was missing a few things. When I arrived at the sport, it suddenly started to turn very strong, which is why I spent the rest of my day in the back of my car. • Immer der Sonne hinterher

    January 19, 2025 in Australia 🌬 25 °C

    Deutsch:

When I woke up this morning, the worst of the thunderstorm had passed. It was still a bit windy, but nothing like yesterday evening. I heard that even in Germany there were reports on the news about the wind and the thousands of power cuts here in Australia. To let the wind die down a little, I made coffee in the back of the car and then went to a small restaurant for breakfast. There I bought a donut, a baked fish and a flat white. I then went shopping and treated myself to a meta pie. Once that was done, I drove on to Byron Bay. On the way there, of course, I crossed the border into New South Wales, which meant another hour's time difference to Germany. As the weather was still not ideal, I only took a short walk along the beach and watched the surfers. I wasn't planning to stay in Byron Bay for long, as sleeping there is a bit of a problem. I'd heard the rangers were very strict and I was really reluctant to pay a fine. For this reason, I drove on after my short stay there. Of course, I stuck to my plan of always chasing the sun and drove a little further than I actually wanted to, but it was worth it because the weather was much better straight away. While I was looking for a place, I illegally entered farm land and set up camp in the far corner of a large farm area on the edge of a forest. That meant I set up my roof tent, put out a table and chair and had a relaxing evening.

Today I woke up in my hammock and had a really restful night. After my daily coffee, I got my camera ready and went to explore the peninsula. On this walk I saw and photographed seagulls, took some great nature shots, photographed an osprey and various kangaroos. In general, I saw a lot. When I got back in the car, I set off straight away and covered a few meters again. After about an hour's drive, I arrived in a small village that I really wanted to explore. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to see. For this reason, I just went for a stroll, bought a meat pie and sat down by a river for lunch. There I also planned my onward journey and filled up my water canisters. After driving for another hour, it was unfortunately difficult to find a campsite again today. It seems that it's not that easy in New South Wales. Nevertheless, I found a nice spot close to the beach, somewhat hidden among the trees. To round off the day, I took a short walk along the beach with my fishing rod. By chance, I found a little lookout where I enjoyed the sunset and just let my mind wander. Unfortunately, I didn't have any luck fishing today but what is not yet can still be. I'll just try again tomorrow. I spent the rest of the evening sitting by the fire, cooking myself some ramen and just enjoying the silence.

  • Viele Spaziergänge

    January 21, 2025 in Australia ☁️ 26 °C

    Deutsch :
Man weiß ja nie, was man findet.

After I woke up today, I made some phone calls to Germany while I drank my coffee. Then I cooked wraps for lunch, I was hungrier than usual as I hadn't eaten anything for dinner yesterday. So I skipped breakfast and went straight to lunch. After my refreshment, I cleaned out the entire back of my car, as during the storm the rain was pushed into the interior despite the tarpaulin and to avoid mold, everything had to be dried out. Once that was done, I put everything away again and got ready to go for a little walk in the woods. You never know what you might find. The walk was nice, but I didn't find much apart from spiders, which is why I set off straight afterwards to look for a new place to spend the night further north. On the way, I stopped for gas and saw a small section of forest that looked suspiciously like koalas. So I went there for another walk. Unfortunately, apart from a few parrots and budgerigars, I couldn't see anything. For this reason, I drove on and saw a dead dingo on the side of the road while I was driving. My next stop was at Shark Bay, which is a beach or bay where I naturally went for another walk. Unfortunately, there was no good camping spot there, so I drove on to other places along the coast. After searching for a while, I found a small parking lot hidden on a peninsula where there were lots of big kangaroos, cliffs with beautiful views and generally great nature. So I decided to stay there. No sooner said than done, I parked my car and sat down on the beach to enjoy the last rays of sunshine. After the sun went down, I went back to the car, got everything ready for the night (hammock set up) and then cooked a very tasty Italian stew.
    Recipe:
Sauté salsiccia with a dash of white wine. Then add finely chopped onions and sweet potato and simmer for a while to soften everything a little. Then add the mushrooms, olives, corn, a tomato, garlic and a finely chopped chili pepper. Finally, pour in the water, add the pasta and simmer together.

The stew tasted delicious, but unfortunately I ate too much and fell straight into bed afterwards.
