Es ist noch erwähnenswert, dass ich im Coworking Space einige interessante Leute kennengelernt habe. Ich habe mich besonders mit drei Personen unterhalten, die alle eigene Unternehmen besitzen.

Da ist zum Beispiel Colin aus Großbritannien, der Online-Shops und Marken aufbaut, um Produkte aus Asien in Europa und den USA zu verkaufen. Er kauft die Produkte günstig ein und verkauft sie dann zu einem Vielfachen des Einkaufspreises weiter. Je nach Produkt kann das bedeuten, dass er ein Produkt für etwa 1 Euro einkauft und es für 30 Euro in seinem Shop verkauft. Natürlich müssen davon noch Versand, Verpackung und andere Kosten gedeckt werden, aber die Gewinnmarge ist dennoch beachtlich. Dieses Geschäftsmodell nennt man Dropshipping.

Elyas aus Frankreich betreibt eine Marketingagentur, die auf Kunden im Luxussegment spezialisiert ist. Er zeigte mir ein kürzlich abgeschlossenes Projekt mit der Luxusuhrenmarke Hublot, bei dem Kunden ihre Uhren interaktiv konfigurieren und bestellen können. Ich habe es ausprobiert, und die Uhr würde etwa 25.000 Euro kosten – definitiv zu teuer für mein Budget.

Schließlich ist da noch Esther aus den Niederlanden, die eine Softwarefirma gegründet hat, die Unternehmen bei der Verwaltung ihrer Kundenbeziehungen unterstützt, ein sogenanntes CRM-Tool (Customer Relationship Management). Alle drei waren regelmäßig im Coworking Space anzutreffen, doch Esther war oft bis spät in die Nacht dort. Sie arbeitet typischerweise 14 Stunden am Tag, einschließlich der Wochenenden, und schläft mehrmals am Tag für einige Stunden, um den Zeitzonenunterschied zu Europa und Amerika auszugleichen. Sie hat früher selbst auf Ko Tao gelebt und ist zu Besuch, um alte Freunde wiederzutreffen.

Heute Abend ist sie vergleichsweise früh gegangen, um mit Freunden eine Bar zu besuchen, wo ein Bekannter Musik spielt. Da es mein letzter Abend auf Ko Tao war, schlug sie vor, dass ich auch vorbeikommen sollte, damit ich zumindest einmal auf der Insel ausgegangen bin. Ich sagte ihr, dass ich das mit Finn besprechen und dann vielleicht in die Bar nachkommen werde.

🇺🇸 It's worth mentioning that I met some interesting people at the coworking space. I particularly talked with three individuals who each own their own businesses.

For example, there's Colin from the UK, who builds online shops and brands to sell products from Asia in Europe and the USA. He buys these products cheaply and sells them at a multiple of the purchase price. Depending on the product, this means he might buy something for about 1 euro and sell it for 30 euros in his shop. Of course, this price must cover shipping, packaging, and other expenses, but the profit margin is still significant. This business model is known as dropshipping.

Then there's Elyas from France, who runs a marketing agency specializing in luxury clients. He showed me a recently completed project with the luxury watch brand Hublot, where customers can interactively customize and order their watches. I tried it out, and the watch would cost about 25,000 euros—definitely too expensive for my budget.

Finally, there's Esther from the Netherlands, who founded a software company that helps businesses manage their customer relationships, a so-called CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool. All three were regulars at the coworking space, but Esther often stayed late into the night. She typically works 14 hours a day, including weekends, and sleeps several times a day for a few hours to accommodate the time difference to Europe and America. She used to live on Ko Tao herself and is visiting to meet some old friends again.

This evening, she left relatively early to go to a bar with friends where an acquaintance was playing music. Since it was my last night on Ko Tao, she suggested I come along to at least have one night out on the island. I told her I would discuss it with Finn and might join them at the bar later.Read more
