      El Torcal

      Nach den Dolmen geht's direkt zum El Torcal einem relativ kleinen aber nach unserem Dafürhalten ein sehr beeindruckendes Massiv südlich von Antequera. Da wir mit den Dolmen getrödelt haben, ist der obere Parkplatz gesperrt. Wir entscheiden uns gegen die Möglichkeit mit dem Bus hochzufahren und nutzen die Zeit bis zur Wiedereröffnung fürs Essen, Haare waschen und Lesen. Es ist mal wieder heiß und so ist es ganz gut, dass wir dann erst kurz nach 14 Uhr hochfahren und nur eine der zwei kleinen Routen laufen. Da sich beide Touren teilweise überschneiden, nehmen wir die längere, die knapp drei Kilometer beträgt und zwei Stunden dauert. Es ist wirklich Wahnsinn, was die Natur so erschafft. Immer wieder machen wir Pausen um den Ausblick zu erfassen, verschiedene Figuren zu erkennen und einfach zum Staunen.Baca lagi

      44ème étape ~ El Torcal

      Petite randonnée sous un temps parfait : ni pluie ni soleil, pour découvrir el torcal.
      1h30, 3km, +53m de dénivelé 🥾
      Et pour nous récompenser, une glace 🍦🥰

      Unter Gleichgesinnten

      Eine knappe Woche verbrachten wir gemeinsam mit einigen anderen alternativlebenden und sehr lieben Menschen, die wie wir vor allem das freie Stehen in der Natur bevorzugen.

      Das gemeinsame Sitzen am Lagerfeuer und der inspirierende Austausch bot eine willkommene Abwechslung zu den letzten Wochen, die wir meist allein in der Natur verbracht haben.

      Langsam aber sicher nähern wir uns dem südlichsten Punkt unserer Route. Nachdem wir die letzten Tage viel über Portugal und was es dort alles zu entdecken gibt gehört haben, können wir es fast nicht mehr erwarten das Land bald eigens zu bereisen.      Baca lagi

      El Torcal Park

      After a few days of ‘rest’, we knew we were ready to do a short hike in a park in the mountains just south of Antequera. We have seen several brochures advertising this place so decided to go.

      The park is officially known as “Paraje Natural Torcal de Antequera” (“Torcal de Antequera Natural Park” in English). It is known for its unusual landforms and has one of the most impressive karst landscapes in Europe. We saw karst topography on Mallorca and Cuba. It is always amazing to see with its barren, rocky ground, caves, sinkholes, sometimes underground rivers, and the absence of streams and lakes on its surface.

      “El Torcal” refers to the mountain range (the Sierra del Torcal) which is made up of limestone formed about 150 million years ago. The landscapes we saw in the park were created by millions of years of erosion and dissolution by water (karstification). At one time, the whole area was underwater. We saw fossils of sea creatures, anemones. It’s hard to believe that it was under the sea as we were 4,000’ up in the mountains.

      The 30 minute drive to the park was beautiful. Few houses, flowering almond trees, the mountains and views out over the countryside.

      We arrived at the Visitor Centre at around 11:30 am. and started our walk from the parking centre. There are several trails but we picked the 3 km yellow circular route that takes about 2 1/2 hours to walk.

      Immediately, we were introduced to what we would be doing during the next couple of hours - scrambling and climbing over a very stony and irregular terrain with an incredible landscape. ‘Otherworldly’ is a good word to use. I am also very sure that there have been many sprained ankles during this hike!

      We met a couple from Wyoming and walked with them. They were in Antequera too for a few days - mostly for the good hiking opportunities. Andy was a retired Yellowstone park ranger and Denise had worked in the travel industry. Both interesting people.

      It was a magical place to spend a few hours under blue skies and the sun and with great company. We are happy we went.      Baca lagi

      Von 21 auf 1 Grad 🥶🌡️

      In der Früh als wir die Schiebetür öffneten waren auf einmal 5 Katzen bei unserem Bus. 😅 Eine davon war sehr zutraulich und ließ sich gleich streicheln. 🥰 Sie sprang gleich in den Bus und erkundete alles, lange ließen wir sie aber nicht drinnen weil sie wollte überall rauf springen. 😅🙈

      Nach unserer Yogaeinheit am Strand machten wir uns langsam Abfahrbereit. Wir kuschelten noch mit der süßen Katze. Die hat ein richtig schönes Katzenleben, liegt in der Sonne, von den Campern bekommt sie reichlich Streicheleinheiten und wohlgenährt war sie auch. 😅🐾

      Für den MI 18.01. haben wir schon länger Tickets reserviert für den Caminito del Rey, ein berühmter Wanderweg, wo immer lange Wartezeiten auf Tickets sind. Wir waren uns bis heute nicht sicher ob wir ihn machen sollen oder weiterfahren, aber da es nicht mehr lange hin ist entschieden wir uns zu warten.
      Wir machten uns auf den Weg in die Berge zum El Torcal Nationalpark, dort möchten wir morgen wandern gehen.

      Nur 1 Stunde entfernt von der Küste liegt das faszinierende Karstgebirge. 🪨
      Wir hatten strahlend blauen Himmel und bestes Wetter bei der fahrt. Ließen auch mal die Drohne fliegen und uns folgen. 😍

      Beim Platz angekommen zog es innerhalb von 5 Minuten so stark zu, wir befanden sich mitten in einer Wolke, wir sahen auf einmal nicht mehr weiter als ein paar Meter. 🙈😅 Die Temperatur sank schlagartig von 13 auf 6 Grad. 😮
      Nach 2 Stunden wurde es wieder klarer aber die Temperatur blieb gleich. Zum Glück haben wir unsere Dieselstandheizung. 🌡️🙏

      Wir verbrachten die Zeit mit Video und Fotomaterial sichern und unsere Ausgaben Liste auf den neusten Stand bringen. 😅

      In der Nacht sank die Temperatur auf 1,2 Grad. 🥶      Baca lagi

      Antequera

      30 Mei, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

      Warm. Die Apotheke sagt 34 Grad, aber da die kleinen Gassen in der Sonne liegen und kein Wind weht, ist es echt heiß.
      So kann man sich zumindest mit den Spaniern über das Wetter unterhalten, denn denen ist es für Ende Mai viel zu warm.
      Ergo haben wir nur einen kleinen Rundgang gemacht und da ich aus weiser Voraussicht die Klima angemacht habe, sitze ich mit den Hunden jetzt entspannt im Auto, trotzdem es in der prallen Sonne steht.
      Ärgerlich, dass die Batterie nur noch drei Stunden Strom fūr die Klima hat      Baca lagi

      Antequera

      We took a rest day in Antequera. Not because we needed it, but because it is worth it!
      Elaine had mentioned the Conjunto Arqueológico Dólmenes de Antequera to us, so we started the day with that visit. There are three dolmens in Antequera, two of them easily accessible from the town center, the third one required walking a bit further, and the attendant at the museum strongly discouraged us to go there on foot when he heard we didn't have a car.
      What we saw was quite amazing anyway. The Dolmen de Menga is the largest in Europe, and its orientation is such that the opening looks out to the Peña de los Enamorados.
      We then spent the afternoon at the Alcazaba. Originally built on Roman and Wisigoth fortresses, it was a Moorish fortress until Ferdinand de Antequera, later king Ferdinand I, conquered the citadel in 1410. An afternoon well spent!      Baca lagi

      Day 21: Villanueva de la C. to Antequera

      Day 21, from Villanueva de la Concepción to Antequera, 18.2km, including our little detour in El Torcal.
      If there's one stage to do on the Camino Mozárabe from Málaga, this is it. It's magnificent!
      After a short climb out of the village, we walked on some pretty country lanes. El Torcal dominates on the right for a few kilometres, with great views on the opposite side.
      A few more kilometres and the limestone rocks were really close. So close, in fact, that we left the path to take a closer look. The sheep took no notice.
      From the mirador at Puerto de la Escaleruela, you can see Antequera, down in the valley.
      The descent is a comfortable one, along well-maintained paths. We started going down just as dark clouds appeared. And then, as we came around a bend, there it was, the reclining giant, the Peña de los Enamorados.
      The Alcazaba de Antequera welcomed us as we came into town.

      El torcal et Antequera

      Nous partons du stationnement où nous avons couché la veille. Bon! Pas facile. Nous aurions dû prendre une photo pour expliquer comment ce fut une aventure pour sortir de là !! Pourtant, la veille, il n'y avait pas grands automobilistes de stationnés... Alors, nous n'avions pas envisagé que le lendemain, ce serait bien plein et bien compliqué de sortir de là. On a dû... Je dis on, mais Nicolas a dû avoir quelques sueurs froides de... recul .. Avance... Recule... Avance !! Mais après un bon 20 minutes de stress, nous voilà partis pour El Torcal.

      Après la route, on arrive enfin tout en haut de la montagne. Il faut super froid. Il pleut. Ça ne donne même pas le goût de sortir du camper. Félix dort alors on se dit que ça serait bien de faire une petite sieste... Question d'en profiter pour une fois!

      Après un moment, dîner ingéré, tout le monde est prêt pour explorer. Environ 20 minutes plus tard... le soleil apparaît. Il fait beau, mais beau !! On fait notre randonnée et Sam nous dit.... haaaaaa c'est mon coup de cœur!!! ❤️

      Effectivement, c'était de toute beauté. Les formes des rochers sont plutôt arrondies causées par les pluies. Cela date du temps jurassique. C'est assez étrange et ça fait une vue spectaculaire avec les montagnes. On y voit même plusieurs chèvres de montagne.

      Par la suite, on continue notre chemin dans le petit village de Antequera. Il est tard soit 17h00, mais il y a l'Alcazaba (une forteresse) que nous voulons absolument visiter. Nous y arriverons à 17h30... Et ça ferme à 18h, mais ça ne nous n'empêche pas d'y aller! On doit se rendre tout en haut des tours.

      La vue y est magnifique... !! C'est plus que sublime et en plus... Nous sommes quasiment les seuls. C'est la beauté de la chose. On peut prendre les photos qu'on veut et admirer le tout paisiblement !!! Mais quelle belle journée !!      Baca lagi

      Antequera Walkabout

      Antequera is a city of great cultural and economic richness. Its historic centre is made up of more than fifty monuments and buildings, some of which date back to the Bronze Age, such as the dolmens of the Menga Cave, Viera and Romeral.

      In its historic centre, crowned by the castle and the Basilica of Santa María, there is a succession of collegiate churches, churches, convents, palaces, arches, gates, hermitages, stately houses, and even an "alcazaba" or casbah. Of particular note are the eighteenth-century Nájera Palace, which now houses the Municipal Museum, the Catalinas Convent and the Palace of the Marquises de la Peña, in Mudéjar and Renaissance style. A visit to the natural site of El Torcal, in the surrounding area, is highly recommended.      Baca lagi
