    Hawaii ( the last blog)

    December 19, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

We left L.A after our big day at the theme parks to get on a 6 hour long flight to Hawaii. We had a really funny toddler next to us that decided to sing the entire Winnie the Pooh theme song to us when the plane landed. She was so cute! We got a rental car and drove it over to our Airbnb. Everyone is super nice in Hawaii and it had a much better vibe than L.A.

The next day we got to sleep in and explore around Hawaii. We got to go to the North shore, the place that Dad’s favourite movie (North Shore) was set. We didn’t swim because it was bucketing down with rain, but the weather was supposed to clear up the next day.

Well the weather did not clear up the next day. We tried to go for a swim but we did not follow through because it was bucketing down with rain. But Dad checked the weather again and it did say it would definitely clear up the next day fingers crossed 🤞 . Dad did rent a surf board though for the whole time we were here so he could go and do his surf stuff.

Luckily for us the weather cleared up the next day so we could go to the beach which we did. We swum at Waimea beach where there were super big shore waves that we could body surf and we also looked around some shops and ate some delicious shaved ice ( which is famous in Hawaii) which was basically a snow cone but bigger.

On our last day in Hawaii and of the whole trip we had to go to one more hotel because originally we were going to leave yesterday but our flight got delayed so now we’re in Waikiki. Dad had to drop off the car and take the Uber back to us so Mum, Jemilla and I had a bit of a look around. It had a lot of Queensland vibes and it was very nice weather. That night we went to the beach and went out for a celebration dinner of our last night on the trip. This trip has been great and an awesome experience for me. I loved the Mountains to the beaches, to the cities and to the theme parks. In the end my final favourite place ended up being Lauterbrunnen and Rothenburg, but that’s not to say I haven’t loved everything else. I would definitely want to return to the mountains because I’ve loved the peacefulness of it all. I’m also very ready to go home.
Thanks for keeping up with all these lengthy blogs and I’m looking forward to seeing you all when we get back.😁😁😁

  • Day 147

    L.A California

    December 16, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We got up super early after our massive day at Disney land, only getting 2 hours of sleep to hop on our plane. The ride was 7 hours and I slept for most of it. We arrived in L.A and it was… alright. There were some areas like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills that were nice but the Hollywood sign had a few interesting people hanging around which didn’t make me like the place much. We went to L.A so we could transfer to Hawaii. LA was supposed to be a stopover so we thought we would add in a theme park as well stayed in Knottsberyy Farm hotel. We went to Knottsberry theme park there the next day to because… why not?!

The next day we woke up semi early to get to the theme park and it’s known to have some of the scariest rides through out America. The first ride was a wooden roller coaster that was super scary and had a bunch of steep drops, I had never gone on a scarier roller coaster on my life. Then we went on this hanging roller coaster we’re you were sitting like under it. And your feet were hanging. It’s hard to explain but it goes upside down and stuff like that. Jemilla and Dad went on a super fast roller coaster that just went straight up and straight down. I didn’t want to go on that becuase I was too scared. I personally would not want to go back to L.A, I would only come back for the theme park which was one of my favourite theme parks I’ve ever been too.

    Disney land/ Orlando

  • Day 144

    Disney Land/ Orlando

    December 13, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

We woke up super early on Tuesday morning to catch a Uber to New York airport. New York airport was very intense, A lot of shouting about and a lot of people, I would hate to to see what it’s like around Christmas. We got to Orlando and rented a car to drive to a resort that we were staying in. It was very large ( at least larger than our apartment in New York ) and it had a public pool and spa that we could visit which me and Dad did that night.

On our first day in Orlando we went to Disney land Hollywood studios. There were a bunch of rides and games and characters to meet. Jemilla and I went on a roller coaster three times before we left. There was even a whole Star Wars section where you could go and drive a spaceship and so many more that are to hard to explain. There was also a whole Toy Story section that we went on two rides in, one where you competed with each other in like a digital 3D hit the target game while your cart moved. We won’t be returning to Hollywood studios but we will go to one of the other parks within Disney land tomorrow.

We woke up around the same time as we did the day before to go to Disney World, Animal kingdom which was basically a Zoo cross theme park. Around the place there were a bunch of trees and animals and had jungle Christmas music playing over the speakers. We went on this Safari thing where we saw Lions, Elephants, Zebras, Hippos, Cheaters, Crocodiles and a Giraffe came up right next to our car and nearly popped its head in, and there was no barrier to keep it out. There was also this really fun mountain roller coaster that Jemilla and I rode a couple of times. On our last ride of it, in the line the ride was shut down because the roller coaster stopped half way through so we went on another one instead. One of my favourite rides was this virtual reality set in the Avatar section of the Park where it felt like you were riding this space bird thing and water sprayed all over your face and it was awesome.

On our last day in Disney land we couldn’t get into the park untill 4:00 pm because we were going to Mickey very merry Christmas party, where basically you got to do all the rides like a usual day except there was Parade shows and free cookies and hot chocolate to eat. We got to the park by ferry ( because it was one of the biggest Disney land parks yet) and lined up. There were a lot of people there to start with because the people from the start of the day were still hanging about. We went on 4 roller coasters at the start of the day and then we got some Christmas cookies as well as a hot chocolate. The funny thing was that we kept going back for cookies to put in our bag for the next few days ( we weren’t being greedy, sometimes they gave us 3 cookies at a time they made thousands.) and because one of the rides Jemilla and I lined up for got cancelled yesterday we both got fast passes to skip the line on one ride so we used that on space mountain. We also got to go on this fast and scary roller coaster called Tron, which was a new one so there were a lot of people. At the end of the night there was a massive firework show that we got to watch and then we got home at 1:00am in the morning ready for our Flight to L.A at 7:30am! A little sleepy now!

  • Day 140

    New york Nu. 2

    December 9, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

On our 4th day in New York we all went on the Subway to the Ferry so we could sail passed the Statue of Liberty. I was a-bit nervous for the Subway but it was just like the London one. The boat was pretty crowded and in all our photos it was really tiny in the back-round but it was very cool to see such an iconic landmark. That night Mum and Dad lined up for a free ticket to the Jimmy Fallon show to see Anne Hathaway but they didn’t get it. But they would try again on Monday.

The next day we met up with one of Mum and Dad’s friends David to go to the American Natural history Museum. I liked this Museum much better than the one in London, it had so many exhibits to see including wax figures, really detailed stuffed animals plus much more dinosaur fossils and bones. We then walked around Central Park and I think it’s one of my favourite locations in New York. It was just so quiet and removed from the city and all very peaceful. It was also amazing seeing the skyline around you while walking around inside of it. Then Mum and Dad went to a jazz club while Jemilla and me stayed home.

On our second last day in New York we caught the Subway over to Brooklyn to meet up with David and Amanda ( his wife ) for a look around his side of town which felt a lot like Melbourne. It was bucketing down with rain at this point and we were getting completely drenched. So then took a ferry over to another side of the city and stopped to take pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge. We also got to ride a Carousel randomly ( David paid for it) . We then said goodbye to them and went home to get dry. After we were all dried off we went to our last broadway show ( which wasn’t a surprise this time) called shucked, the music was awesome and it was super funny so I’m hoping it will come to Melbourne so I can watch it again. After the pouring rain we took a walk over to the big Christmas tree and took photos because there weren’t that many people there because of the rain.

On our last day in New York Mum and Dad got up super early to line up again for Jimmy Falon, this time they got tickets which they would use at 8:00 that night. Then they went to a Modern art Museum and finally got into jimmy Falon. They said it was very good and they loved it. They even got to high five him and Mum said he had smooth hands and Dad said they smelled like gravy. New York was awesome. My first thoughts were that I didn’t like it much but I realised it grows on you. It was very bright and had lot of action and stuff going on. Next time I would want to go to the 9, 11 Memorial and go to the top of the Empire State Building.

  • Day 137

    New York Nu.1

    December 6, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 4 °C

We had to wake up at 5:00 in Canada to catch our bus that left at 9:00. Luckily we didn’t have to walk there but Jen drove us. The Bus trip was 11 hours, one of our longest yet. By the end I was super stiff everywhere in my body. It didn’t help that the bus driver put the heat on full blast while we were all in winter cloths and kept stopping to stretch his legs every 25 minutes. We finally got to New York and walked to our apartment on 45th Street. New York was pretty cool on first impressions and super busy.

On our first day in New York we all slept in because we were completely exhausted from the day of bus travel yesterday. We went out into the city and saw Lincoln Centre with the massive Christmas Tree and ice skating, and Grand Central station. It was cool because we had seen so many movies set in New York and we could recognise all the places. We also got to see Times Square which was very bright. Then we went to see “The Rockett’s” Christmas dance thing at Radio City Hall which was very cool. It was a massive theatre. Then we got some New York pizza and went up to our apartment.

On our second day in New York we intended to walk to the ferry to then get to the Statue of Liberty but then realised it was a much longer walk then we originally expected, so we decided to take the subway the next day and look around that side of town today. We saw the “Ghost Busters” fire station, and looked around a really pretty side of town. That night Dad surprised the three of us and took us to a broadway show called Kimberly AKimbo which was very good and we loved it.

  • Day 132

    Canada

    December 1, 2023 in Canada ⋅ 🌧 3 °C

We left London at 11:00 am and we had a lot of time on our hands because our flight left at 6pm. We got to the airport early and then waited for our flight. The flight took 8 hours but instead of it being 2:00am when we got to Canada it was only 9 pm so in the end when we got to bed it was around 5:00 am body clock time. Jen and Dunc who were Mum and Dad’s friends from when they lived in Hong Kong picked us up at the airport and we stayed at their house for the night. They had two really cute massive dogs that we got to hang out with.

On our second day in Canada we planned to get in the car and drive up to a cabin to meet up with other friends for the weekend with Jen and dunc. It was a 4 hour drive and it was in the snow. It was so cool because we had to go into the super markets too and there was a Starbucks in the super market. We also saw a bunch of new fast food places (and there were a lot of fast food places. ). In the middle of the van we had two dogs so it was pretty squishy. We even had a snow ball fight in a Wendy’s parking lot. The cabin when we got there was super cozy, it felt as if it was plucked out of a Christmas movie. It had a fireplace and tons of bedrooms and a spa.

On our next day in the cabin we tried a lot of different foods. We tried Pop tarts, peanut butter and jam which was actually pretty good and whipped cream straight in my mouth, I did gag. We then went into the sauna (which was my first time by the way) then we sprinted out onto the snow and rolled in that and ran back into the sauna because apparently that’s good for your skin? And it was freezing and super hot at the same time. We could also walk along the ice and we even made a snowman.

And on our last day in the cabin we had to get up semi early because people had to leave before a snow storm hit but we did get one more ice walk before that happened. The car ride was good and we got to go out for dinner with Jen and dunce’s parents and I got super full, I had never been more full in my entire life. I ate chicken wings and ribs but they packed a lot onto one plate.

On our last day in Canada we went to Niagara Falls. It was about an hour drive and it was cool because just over the waterfall was the border of America which we were going over the next day. We got a couple of pictures of it and when it turned dark it was all lit up which was nice to see. Then for dinner ( I know we’ve never had so much food in one country on this whole trip) we went out to this classic diner that looked super iconic and had very good food. I loved Canada the food was good, the people were awesome, and it had some very beautiful scenery and I would definetly come back here on the winter.

    London Nu. 2

    November 28, 2023 in England ⋅ 🌙 3 °C

On our 4th day in London we left later than usual because we didn’t have as much to do. By the time we got out we only had about 2 hour of sun light left before dark ( seeing that it gets dark around 4:00 here. We went to this Modern art gallery (Tate Modern) that was… peculiar. It had some weird art there. Some of it was just a white canvas with a splotch of white and another would look like a kinder kid made it. After we walked to West End and went to a musical called “crazy for you” which was really good. We found out that tickets were much cheaper during week days which made it easy for us.

Once again like yesterday on our last day in London we left the house pretty late. We took a walk along the side of the Thames to get a better look at London tower bridge which looked pretty cool. Then we went to another church service at Saint Paul’s cathedral for a service, I think I liked the first one more though maybe on the other one it was my first time so it felt more nicer to the ears but the one at saint Paul’s was more echo-ish. Then I went to the best show I have ever seen in my life. We split up into a group of two. Mum and Jemilla went to the Royal London Ballet which they said was very mesmerising. And Dad and I went to Back to the future the Musical which was one of the best musicals I’ve ever seen. The crowd was super into it and cheered and clapped a bunch, and the singing was perfect and the effects were super cool and I’m really hoping it will come to Melbourne so I can see it again. To sum up London it was one of my favourite city’s so far and maybe my favourite place. It had the Christmas vibe going on, it was cold, and it had a bunch of shows to see and everyone was really nice.

  • Day 126

    London Nu. 1

    November 25, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

On our first day in London we met up with Mum and Dad’s friends from Hong Kong. They took us out for Lunch and to their school Christmas market, they said it was very modern but it definitely wasn’t. It looked like a proper London boarding school. After all it was called kings college. After that we went out for Lunch with them to this really small pub and got really full. The pub had a very London vibe about it and you were allowed to bring dogs inside. We said goodbye and then at night we went into central London to go to a service at Westminster Abbey, they let us sit in the seats where all the royals sit for the coronations which was awesome and the choir was very good to listen to. Plus we got to see Big Ben lit up at night.

On our second day in London we walked for a while to get to Buckingham Palace. On the way we went into Harrods just to see all the fancy and expensive stuff. We finally got to Buckingham palace and sat on the edge of the fountain. It was pretty cool to see but for some reason I was more excited to see Big Ben. On our way out we saw some action movies being filmed and we were desperate to figure out what it was for but the security guards wouldn’t tell us. We went back into the main part of London to this Portrait gallery in place which was completely free. In there there was just a bunch of pictures of famous people and they all looked so real. Then we just looked into shops and went back home.

The next day we decided to the go the London Natural history museum and the science museum which was both completely free. In the Natural history Museum there were a bunch of dinosaur bones and sculptures as well as a few stuffed animals like lions and tigers. And the science museum basically was the full history of space and machines. The natural history Museums Architecture was really cool to, it had like monkeys engraved into the walls.
So far London had been great and one of my favourite city’s and I’m looking forward to what the next few days bring.

    Warner Brothers set tour

    November 24, 2023 in England ⋅ 🌙 4 °C

I wasn’t originally going to make one for this but there were so many photos I couldn’t fit it all into one blog with London too.

We left the Branford on Avon earlyish to take a set tour of the Harry Potter movies on our way to London. On the way we saw the English stone henge which was cool. You had to pay to get in but we drove passed and saw it anyway. The set tour was sooo cool, it had all the costumes that they wore during filming, and all the sets that were in the movies. It had a bunch of information on the making of the movies, a small cinema documentary, and It even had a replica of the Castle. It was definitely one of the highlights of the trip and I would really want to go back again.Read more
