    And home!

    September 23, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

We are back home to our amazing cat Winston with some groceries in hand ready to snuggle down for the day and relax.

We got the extra leg room from LA to Melbourne so we were living the dream again.

We slept on both flights and feel good about which Timezone we are in!

    Was an amazing holiday.

    First day of Axsium camp

    September 19, 2019 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Ok so I am officially back at work but not working 😁
Up at 6am breakfast, a goodbye to Stella and into a car with 2 colleagues, Joe and Camilo for a 2 hour journey down to Fern Gully resort. Was a great trip we laughed a lot, stopped for coffee then again for snacks before arriving at 10am.

Checked in, got my present back with my team t-shirt, yellow. Then into the main pavilion for a company overview.

They hired the Toronto comedy club who do improv comedy and I was well eager! They picked me first, gave me a 🎤 and told me to say the first thing that came into my head. They started easy with my name and how long I had worked for Axsium. Then they passed me an imaginary parcel which I had to open and explain what I had got... ‘a monkey’ I screamed. Then they asked who the card was from ‘Angelina Joly’. Then what the card said ‘I left Brad for you’ hahaha was a lot of fun!

The camp is gorgeous. Surrounded by lakes. Lots of games, paddle boats, canoes, ropes. My room is enormous!

At 5pm we broke for an hour before cocktails.

Cocktail hour and a walk around meet and greet bingo where you find people who have things or done things to tick off. Great way to interact. A couple of hours then it was time for Trivia. 6 rounds with our yellow team coming 4th in the end.

Played some darts with my car buddy Camilo then it was time for bed around 11:30pm.

    Yay camp Axsium!

    The afternoon of Niagara

    September 17, 2019 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

Ok so after the boat trip we had some food overlooking the falls. I honestly think we got the best table in the fast food house!

Then up entertainment alley to a brewery and 8 flights of beer.

Stella told the staff it was my birthday so they played me a Fleetwood MAC song, Landslide.

After that we were back on the bus and out to the town of Niagara-on-The-Lake, which is a gorgeous little town. The changes their name to on the lake to distinguish them selves from the falls for postal reasons. There is a fort here from the battle of 1870 between the British and Americans. Restored after the Americans took it then the British regained it.

On to a winery for multiple tastings then the journey back to the hotel where we drank a bottle a bottle of wine we picked up at the winery.

There was towel art waiting for me in the room and a bottle of wine and a card from the hotel wishing me a happy birthday! Was lovely. I was however on the phone to mum at the time describing these niceties and was advised by mum that she had called and organised this. The hotel it appears was taking full credit for the wine gift and even signed it from the hotel staff hahahahaha 😂

A bloody fabulous way to ring in my 40th year!

    Niagara

    September 17, 2019 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

One of the best experiences of my life!!!!!

    Up at 6:30. Breakfast.
    Shuttle downtown pickup at 8:50.
    Depot at 9:30.
We are on our way to Niagara!

First stop the maple syrup something.

    Then the falls!

This is amazing. Did I mention it is 25 degrees?!
The Danish have a saying... the weather reflects how you have behaved during your last year. I have certainly been good!!!

Onto the boat and our pink ponchos. Canada pink, USA blue. We choose the left hand side down the bottom. We pass by the first falls and golly are we getting wet! Sunglasses on, off, anything to see this amazing sight!

By the time we hit the circular falls we had our pick up the front of the boat as it had been abandoned because of the spray. Stella and I were laughing constantly, not believing our luck at where we are on this day. Did I mention it’s my 40th?! Hahaha

    Toronto and my Australia birthday

    September 16, 2019 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Flight was good had a little sleep and the lady from yesterday who we were so excited with who gave us our stay in Iceland upgraded us to extra leg room😁
Got to the hotel at around 12am Toronto time and off to bed.

Up at 9:30 from our studio hotel room. So small we. Nearly didn’t fit our suitcases in 😂

It’s my Australian birthday!! 38 hour birthday hahaha

We took a walk to the CN Tower but the cloud cover was bad so we kept on to the harbour and visited the Amsterdam brewery. Chilled out with a raspberry beer and Stella organised a slice of cake for my birthday!

Then back to the hotel and Uber over to the hotel my work has paid for 😁

It’s been a hectic couple of days so we are relaxing.

I went out to lobby and came back and Stella had lit a Danish candle, little Danish flags decorating the flags and a happy birthday sign suspended from the ceiling!!

It’s my Australian 40th birthday!!!! Yayayay!!!

    Yay swimming in the rain!

It is everything I had hoped it would be. Everything!!! Warm, blue of blue that you can’t see the bottom because of the white. Surrounded by black rock!

Absolutely the best happenstance for me!

    I am filled with joy!

    Bad then fantastic

    September 14, 2019 in Iceland ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

So Iceland Air... hrrrrrm. Not the greatest. Overbooked our flight to Iceland, tried to put us on another plane then realised we were travelling together got on the same plane after lining up for an hour in Denmark.
Arrived Iceland no dramas but on a leased plane as Iceland Air grounded their 74something planes.
50 minutes to change no time to eat. Food has to be paid for on board.
Wait, waiting. ‘Excuse me ladies and gentlemen. There is an issue with our emergency exit slide. We are attempting to fix it and will keep you updated’.
An hour and a half goes by and a bus pulls up and more people are put on the plane. Stella and I were not allocated seats together so before this bus we had shifted seats to sit together. That time was over.
2 hours in we get an update. New slide needed. 10 minutes to get here 20 minutes to install.
    2:40 in same message... hrrrm
3:30 and we are told we need to get off the plane.

Ok so fantastic bit. They are offering 45 people hotel transfers, meal vouchers, accomodation, plus 600 Euro compensation to stay in Iceland for the night!!!!
They are paying me to stay somewhere I have always wanted to go!!

We made absolute friends with the service desk lady and we thought all our Christmas’ had come at once. We even got $80 worth of food vouches which we split on food and some alcohol samples of Iceland. She said people aren’t usually as happy as us. We have her high fives, literally!

Stella is a gem at getting to the front of queues so I think we were 7th to claim the offer.

So we were supposed to depart at 5pm. We arrived at the Plaza hotel by 11pm. Long ass day but. We were so excited!

    We are in Reykjavík!!!
