Leuven and Antwerp

Organized a walking tour In Antwerp last night.
It’s currently 5:20am and we have been awake for 2 hours. Getting pretty over this.
Extra over for the 2nd night in a row they turn the hot water off during the night so even at 7am couldn’t have a shower.
7:30 we went downstairs and bought the hotel breakfast vouchers for 9€ each. Pretty reasonable i think for what they offered - pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, muffins, ham, cheese, cucumber, cereal, juice, coffee etc.
We then dordled back to our room. So exhausted and the day hasn’t started. 😩
Off to Leuven first. Finding our train was less straight forward this time because there was a few delays so had to really pay attention to what train we were getting on.
It took about 30 mins to get there.
Beautiful, every single building.
I always get the giggles when I look at absolute stunning architecture and it’s being used as a Burger King.
Some dude was just in his little balcony with a cigarette and a croissant. Very movie like all it needed was a naked lady inside wrapped up in a sheet. Walked to the town hall **
Amazing. A bomb landed on it in WW2 but as luck would have it didn’t detonate so the building remains. Stunning.
We went into St Peters church which was nearby which was grand but not pretty. I have high standards now I’ve seen so many. Haha.
We then went to the main square which was wildly underwhelming as the picture of the square is why we chose to visit Leuven .
Just crappy day markets everywhere and obvs the trees where all bare so blah. Lots of old lady knickers for sale. And nana nighties.
And fish. Lots of fish 🤢
Found a cafe and had a hot chocolate. I turned my seat around because no one else in the cafe was facing each other, they were sitting side by side facing the markets watching so I turned around too lol.
The whipped cream they add is brilliant. Australia needs to adapt.
We are now on the train to Antwerp. We are going to skip Mechelen this time I think. It was the bottom of my list anyway.
Had time to kill so just strolled. Ended up in maccas because not particularly hungry so just got a cheeseburger. Will tummy not great so he used our only coinage to use the toilet there. I was busting for a wee but she refused my 20€ so had to hold and find somewhere else.
Bought a coke to get some change and then found a toilet.
What a joke.
Had to use my CARD to buy a ticket to operate the turnstile barriers to use the loo. 1€
I’m sure I mentioned last time I do believe this to be a human rights violation. Especially if you are going to get arrested for going in the street. What are the homeless meant to do? €1 to use a bathroom a few times a day is huge. Sorry no food money for you.
Anyways.
Walked in and found our meeting point for the tour.
Lovely square.
Originally disappointed with who we got as our guide. The other persons English was significantly better but in the end I actually really like her.
She started with info about the square. Good and bad history, a place for festivities and executions. they have one of their own mannequin pis and lots of guild houses around the square. Only 3 originals remain.
Next stop was the entrance to the sewer. Said it smells and has rats but is authentic. Said brewing started up when water was diseased. Horse got sick from water so they made an alcohol of some kind to give to the horses. Someone along the way thought it a terrific idea to try the horse drink and now it used for woman with periods as a helper.
2 dudes next to me physical recoiled at the mention of periods. Very funny to watch their discomfort. Hahah
She talked about the importance of Antwerp harbour and diamond industry. 80% of rough and 50% of smooth diamonds go through the harbour.
(Could be other way around)
We walked to a fort castle thing that was used as a jail. If you were rich you could pay to have the executioner sharpen their sword. The poor had a rough death..
One guild not in main square - butchers. Built on purpose to try look like bacon 😆
Built away for sanitation reason.
Walked down a bit and stood in a walkway
where 2 small wooden door were which is the last remaining puppet show stall. Very common back in the day, used to complain about politics.
Walked around a corner and stopped in another area where she pointed to Mary hanging on a corner.
Talked about legend of boy who shape shifts - best one was he change into a baby so he would be breast fed 😆😆😆
If you put Mary on your door or corner of street he couldn’t get you. That was the legend version.
Then talked about the downfall of Antwerp in the 1600 when the Spanish king* made the Protestants (who had all the money and intellect) leave and move north to Amsterdam which started the golden of Amsterdam in the 1700’s.
Mary on the corners was a symbol for catholic.
The same spot was were prostitutes use to hang out. They have been moved along recently and are now in the safest building in Antwerp. Has a police station, security like fingerprinting to get into rooms and an on scene nurse and doctor.
👏🏼👏🏼
Walk walk walk.
Showed us a decorative hole in the wall. Originally used to wipe horse poop off your shoes lol.
Own an alley to the oldest bar.
Then around the corner to a church and statue of Antwerps famous writer statue whose name I can’t remember haha.
Inside church was lovely.
Had a Reuben painting.
We walked past a rather ordinary building but she mentioned it’s important as it was Europe first skyscraper.
Saw Neuhaus chocolate house who claims to have invented the Belgian praline.
She was a skeptic of the story/claim.
Walk walk walk.
Another big square with a Ruben statue and another cathedral with one tower because it took to long (400 years) and they ran out of money.
Talked about Ruben a bit
He was an outrageous of the day “how do we say ah. Less is not more for Rubens” hahah
Went down BEAUTIUL Alley that twisted and turned - 10 families (shoemakers) with 8-12 kids each once lived here with one toilet. Fathers could earn more by ringing church bell.
Would have been the pits.
Now it is incredible with a real romantic vibe with vines and cobblestone bricks, flower pots etc.
She showed a fancy doorhole - it has grooves to help find the hole in the dark before electricity
She then asked to take a pic of us to prove she did the tour lol
I gave her 20€ - normally they mentiom at the start of the tour that it’s tip based - she didn’t do that and many were either unprepared or unwilling. Some have none some gave some coins.
It’s a 2 hour tour and she did a good job. Tut tut. give her something.
She gave us all a coffee flavoured sweet.
She needs more confidence but did a good job.
Along the way she showed up some pics from her book and explained some Belgium politics. She said it’s really complicated but it sounded pretty universal.
Not everyone agrees with each other and certain groups want certain things 🤷🏼♀️
To finish the tour we walked to other size of cathedral.
There is a Japanese story as famous as cindarella about a boy and dog and Ruben’s paintings that the government added a statue for the Japanese because tourists kept asking where it happened/is.
Was going to go in cathedral but costly so nope.
Walked back to station and currently on train.
Crashing hard.
Have officially confirmed we did not see what we went to see in Leuven. 😆😆😆😆
The fly impaled on the needed was a good substitute though haha
We went Hard Rock Cafe for dinner again. Not hungry but wanted veggies.
Decided to complain about our bedbug situation - got a new room and breakfast vouchers.
Crashed. Czytaj więcej

We were up from about 3 - 6:30am with an alarm set for 8. Both crashed and ended up waking at 11:30 🥴🥴 glad we’re not wasting our time here.
Never have I had such a hard time adjusting as I have this trip in Vegas and now here.
We got on the go by 12 and walked to the station. I had our map preloaded so we were ready to go. Their ticket buying system is very simple. Bless them. Found our platform immediately and ran for the train because it was departing.
Arrived at Braine L- Alleud and walked 2.5km to the 1815 museum.
Love the suburbs. All the houses were beautiful and quaint.
I said to Will “i like all the whom.. weeping Willows” and he said “you were about to saying whomping willows weren’t you” 😅
Mebbe.
Walk walk walk. Overcast day but ok.
Arrived and went straight to the restaurant.
I feel like less people speak English than last time. Maybe they all had a break with Covid? Idk. But young people always can and a few haven’t been able to.
Paid €3.5 for a coke and it was a 200ml bottle. Half a can. Excuse me where is the rest of my drink 😆
Food was nice, I got pasta, Will had a burger.
It started to rain of course so we went to the museum and bought our tickets.
Don’t think I mentioned above - 1815 museum is on the battle site of Napoleon’s battle at Waterloo.
Museum was excellent. The front lady thought she could speak English but couldn’t. No annunciation so I only got half of what she said. Had an electronic card for something. Still not entirely sure for what.
Museum starts with background about the start of the revolution.
I really enjoyed an animated guillotine where it projected a head and then it got chopped and would land in the basket with a thump sound. 😆
I think it was brilliant. Each display was a sentence or 2. A paragraph max. Some museums are walls and walls and walls of writing.
It had all the outfits on display, and loads of weapons too.
We went into a digital movie thing. Half was french half was English. It was good only I was annoyed because one side of my 4D glasses wasn’t working so I had to close one of my eyes the whole time so I couldn’t actually see half the screen cause it was a wrap around the room one.
Who knew having to close one eye was such a bother lol.
Outside was a skeleton they found 7 years ago when they did an archaeological dig and the stuff the found with him. I like that he had a iron ball in his ribs.
188,000 men fought but only 10,000 died which doesn’t seem like a lot to me because the animation was very lord of the rings - just run into each other and see what happens. I’d have approached with no hope. Absolute kuddos to the men at the front. I couldn’t do that. My legs wouldn’t cooperate.
Big timeline on the wall. I wish I had a more organized brain. I know facts about lots of things but combining them in any sort of order just doesn’t work out for me. I don’t know how to mush my knowledge together which is annoying because I find history so interesting.
This person was doing this, this person was doing that which caused this is about as complicated as i can get. More than 2 stories and I’m a goner.
We then walked to the next exhibit which was a panorama painting which was HUGE. The whole building in a circle. Very cool. Must have taken a loooooooong time. There was a display in the foyer of that battle that took someone 30 years.
This was a bigger feat.
I find it amazing they are able to break down the day down to the hour. The painting was at 4pm or something.
Can’t remember what I ate for breakfast yesterday but everyone’s accounts were so detailed you could piece this together?? Okkkk.
Next was the lions mound. Brilliant. Loads of stairs to get to the top but the view was worth it to see the battlefield.
Back down and our legs are jello.
There is another museum 4 km away which has napoleons stuff from the night before I believe bur no Wi-Fi so don’t know which direction to walk so we skipped. Happy with what we have seen today. Very very cool.
Walked back to the station in the rain. We are clever chooks and brought our rain jackets though so we are all good. Longer wait this time. It feels much later than it is. Very dark and gloomy.
Got home safe and sound. Currently in the bath as I write this. Must stay awake until reasonable hour!!
Struggling.
Could not muster energy to leave hotel. Eating Doritos and jam sandwiches for dinner.
We may have bed bugs. Will has 3 bites. I felt itchy last night but he boils so we will await results tomorrow morning. Czytaj więcej

A magical sleep was had by all.
3pm yesterday until 10am today.
I had a bath along the way but still slept for majority of it.
Will up at some point too because I was trying to find a cheeseburger for ages cause I was starving but he has told me this morning he ate it. 😡
We are currently at the laundromat and it’s been hilarious. Can’t read French. Making it up as we go along cause the instructions are poor.
We have deduced AFTER we started the machine we put in fabric softener not detergent, so bought more stuff only for it not to go down because we put the washer on the wrong program.
So we are just watching our clothes get tossed in clear water 😆
9€ for a wash which I think is reasonable for how many clothes he have thrown in (18kg machine) … if I didn’t have to do it again hahaha.
Update: we see suds. Minor ones but still visible 🎉 (nothing compared to all other washers but oh well)
Hasn’t flooded so that’s terrific. Think it’s dumb that the machine doesn’t have a pause or stop button for just in case purposes.
Put the dryer in for 2 rounds of 8 minutes but then ran out of coins so had to make do. Pretty dry overall. Just hung up a few things when back at the hotel. Dryer was very spacious so they all got some airtime.
Went for a walk looking for lunch. Will suggested hard rock. 👀
Yes please, I dream about their mango berry cooler WHICH WAS INDEED ON THE MENU.
The bruschetta was the GREATEST.
But best of all. The bill came and it was the same price as the prices on the menu AND no tip. 😭😭
We then went for a walk around. Saw the palace and other bits and bobs but I was dying so we came back and had another 4 hour sleep 😆
We then went up to the supermarket to get some bread. I booked the moulin rouge, organized our brewery tour and caught up on my staple journal.
And back to bed again hhaaaa. Czytaj więcej

What a crap day hahahah
Landed at 7am. Waited in the customs line for 40 mins. Seems practical to have 2 officers for an entire plane but sure. Got stamped 🕺🏻 then went and got our bags which did show up thank goodness.
We decided to get the train rather than a taxi because it was peak hour so direct trains to central were possible.
18€ so not bad. Definitely better than a taxi. Only the 2nd stop too. It was about a 900m walk so not too bad though our bags are not nearly as comfy as our backpacking backpacks. I’d like a hip buckle to help take some of the weight.
Hotel was easy to find and in a great location.
Love Brussels 😭😭😭😭
It’s abandoned today though as it’s a public holiday. Probably our first of many. They loved their holidays haha.
Arrived at hotel about 8:30 and couldn’t check in so we dumped our bags.
All workers minus bag guy was a douche canoe. But even bag guy annoyed me when he wouldn’t give me the luggage ticket.
No problem you giving it to Will (duh) but please don’t walk around me when I have my hand out trying to take it from you to give it to the man. Thanks 🙃
It’s been very noticeable to me while he hasn’t bee able to talk how many people - all - will speak directly to him even when I’m the one trying to talk.
For instance trying to check in “hello I’d like to check in”
turns to Will “can you confirm your booking details?
only for him to say “I don’t know I didn’t book them”
THAT IS WHY I AM THE ONE TRYING TO TALK TO YOU OMG FUCK OFF.
Small things all the time. 😪
Anyway. Couldn’t check in so went for a walk. Streets are beautiful. Love the cobbles and store fronts, hanging flowers etc.
Saw mannequin pis which was smaller than I remembered but also the grand place. LOVE.
We ended up in maccas cause literally everything closed.
Paying for the toilet BS has started again but I’ll take it over tipping haha.
Cheeseburger meals don’t exists. Disaster.
It was then a very very long 6 hour wait. We were dying. Checked around midday to see if room was ready. Same douche canoe acting like I’m bothering him said no rooms ready until 3.
Then I watched as other people checked in… there is no early check in option online so feeling like I’m being lied to while absolutely exhausted isn’t fun.
Went for another walk to pass time but we didn’t get far. We are done.
We found a side section of the hotel with couches that we don’t know if we were actually allowed there but had a lay down anyway. Thankgoodness for that.
Somehow made it to 3.
It’s currently 9pm and I’m awake. Will stilll snoring. I’m in the bath and very hungry but don’t feel comfortable going for a walk by myself so I’m waiting for him. Czytaj więcej

Transit

Slept In until about 11:30. Had check out at 12. It was such a good sleep.😭😭
We dropped our bags off at the hotel bag holding place and went walking towards grand central station. We went the long way because we both just couldn’t do time square again haha.
It’s not so much the amount of people but trying to avoid the scams and the annoying pestering people.
Found the station. Very grand, looks like Gringotts. Inside recognizable from movies. I suppose The ceiling and walls were not as detailed as I was expecting but still lovely especially for a train station. Chandeliers were niiiice.
Walked around for ages trying to find food. Will wanted to do a lot from his food list we got from his friend like delis and stuff which we just haven’t had an opportunity to do because we have been stuck with everyone. But most were in Brooklyn so we have had to skip this time. NY Traffic is so unpredictable, not risking not getting back in time.
Still walk walk walk with no food to be found.
Eventually found a Starbucks and stole their Wi-Fi while I was lining up for a drink for Will cause he was really thirsty - service is so poor in this country. Waited waited. Only person in line.. Had time to research one of the places Will friend said which was shake shack - so walked away and went there instead.
Astonishing really.
Shake shack was pricey considering the size of the food. Small even for Australian portions. Must outrage the Americans 😆
This country is cooked. Dude just with his kid smoking a joint at the table (outside table)
Then a couple of workers came outside to have a hit 😆😆😆😭😭😭 WHAAT. You are literally at work on shift. Bruh. What is this.
Walked past a legal weed van “hey you guys wanna get high”
Went to get a magnet found one BUT THEN
we found an NYPD dog jacket which was not in budget but somehow made its way into our shopping bag 👀👀👀
Returned to hotel and sat behind reception (
only place we have stayed in America with seating in hotel - not big on it ANYWHERE 🙃)
Eventually joined by Helen and Tom then got our taxi. Took over an hour, nearly an hour and a half - Felt bad for taxi guy really. Airport is a set price so only $65 but he wasted a lot of his time on one trip! He did watch videos the whole way though 😆
Check in was tedious.
And electronic which I hate. I want to talk to someone. Name still not matching passport but had to scan passport and it was accepted so 🤷🏼♀️
I put the wrong day in for both of us for when we are apparently leaving Belgium. Ah well lol.
TSA was a joke “the line from here will take 55 mins”
And it did.
Tom and Helen were flying premium economy so got whizzed through. Met them at the bar on the other side. Wi-Fi was sketchy so very lucky got their message about where to find them.
We sat at the bar for about an hour together. They bought us drinks as a wedding present. I got a cocktail and I really didn’t like but finished it cause it was $20USD.
She offered a glass of wine but a glass was the same price so I went cocktail. I said coke but she either forgot or ignored and got me the cocktail.
The bar tender was probs the worse service I’ve recieved for the entire country. Big call I know.
Took 3 attempts to finish an order
“Could I have 2 beers” then he walks off - doesn’t acknowledge that he has heard you mind you, then doesn’t return for 10 minutes
“And a cocktail”
Leaves again to not return
“AND a glass of wine” fuck me.
said our byes 😭 we have been invited to see them at Christmas. Helen is going to do the research to see if that’s plausible. They are an hour above Manchester so not overly convenient.
Flight was boarding so we couldn’t eat 😬a machine took our picture and we walked on the plane.
Flight was 10 minutes late to depart because some people didn’t turn up for the flight so they had to remove their bags.
As our tickets weren’t scanned to get on the plane….. we are hoping it’s not our stuff 😆
Either way it’s there fuck up so in theory they will need to fix the problem, not us.
I wouldn’t trust a machine to match me to my passport photo alone when I didn’t actually look at the camera I just walked through.
We shall seeeee.
Dinner is not crash hot. Small and ingredients I don’t eat like cooked spinach (maybe it’s Kale? tastes weird) , lentils and olives. I’m rather hungry.
Currently the entire planes screens are fucking up so no one has entertainment lol
Technically tomorrow but still awake so still today.
Not impressed with Delta. Our domestic with JetBlue was significantly better. We did get the extra leg room I paid a bazillion dollars for but the seats where still tiny. And the food was crap.
Didn’t crash though so can’t fault it in the main thing. Czytaj więcej

4:30 am alarm 😭😭😭😭
Though horrendous, we are better than expected. I’m having really good sleeps in this bed.
After a few attempts the taxi dude managed to flag one down for us which took us to the station.
Arrived with time to spare which is great for my anxiety haha
You don’t get a platform number until 15 mins before your train though so we just waited around. Same problem as usual, they don’t like public seating.
Got some Starbucks and boarded. Very nice trains. Maybe best we have been on. Ample leg room, slight recline, foot holder thing and padding on seat.
We slept most of the way. Woke up with a neck crink.
An announcement on the train that passengers could get off the train for their first smoke stop then get back on the train 🧐
Wowza what a day.
We first walked out of the station and over to Capitol Hill.
Then around and down to the Washington monument.
We tried going to the air and space Smithsonian museum on the way but it was booked out so we were told to try book for the afternoon session at 12:30 exactly.
The autumn tree colours are beautiful.
There was a marathon going on with loads of runner and their families. It was nearly 3 hours in and I saw very very little walking 💪🏻💪🏻
Washington has Canberra vibes. Spacious, clean, abandoned. 80 resident tops.
We walked past some police horses in their carriage and did the smart thing and patted them.
We then walked in the direction of the White House. Pretty cool to see. Building has huge significance obviously. It looked different to how I thought it looked and have felt really dumb all day until we saw the back later on and I was like AH HA! that’s what I think it looks like and its the way more famous viewpoint.
You get closer to it from the front however.
Then walked through the WW2 memorial. They had a lovely one with 4000 stars. Each represented 100 fallen soldiers.
Simple is often best.
We then walked down past the reflective pools and up in to the Lincoln memorial.
It’s a bloody big walk. 6km at least by now to get to Lincoln.
I liked Lincoln. He was the size I envisioned.
Got some photos of the big penis as my mature husband calls it with the water reflection. It was 12:30 so tried to book the Smithsonian and got in for 3pm.
Then headed for lunch. Found a pizza place and it was terrific. Got a buffalo wing pizza with buffalo sauce, chicken, blue cheese etc. sooo good, and cheap!
Then started walking to try find a taxi to take us to the cemetery and pentagon. An impossible task. The city is abandoned. Even went to the emergency department and nada. Security was likeee uhhmmmm maybe inside can call one for you but then I pointed our the problem of yes we can get there but we can’t get back.
So we walked the 6 km back to the Smithsonian for the museum.
And only just made it for 3pm.
Very cool stuff inside but the highlights were the Wright brothers exhibits with their plane - The Wright Flyer (there was also their first/the worlds first military plane in another exhibit) a bike they made and some of their stuff that went on flights.
The other was the space exhibit with Neil Armstrong’s space suit and the Apollo 11 capsule which returned to earth with them.
Also the last shoes worn in space - Eugene Cernan’s from Apollo 17 and the door from Apollo 11 but from the attempt before where 3 astronauts died in a fire cause they couldn’t get out the hatch.
The other thing Will wanted to see was part of an exhibit that was closed.
Win some you lose some. At least he saw the space stuff. 1/2 is better than none.
And free entry can’t complain haha.
We then tried to find a taxi and got one on the agreement he would stay with us to drive us back.
Appalling English.
Didn’t feel safe with him at all. Couldn’t see his ID and kept arguing with us and not listening.
Took us to the pentagon which was underwhelming and then back to the train station. I did see some of the graves in the cemetery as we drove past but not many. He couldn’t explain properly why he couldn’t take us so we gave up. Too hard basket.
Ate in the food court then boarded the train. We’re not sitting together and this train is not nearly as nice. Ok seat room (still less) but no foot rest or recline.
1 hour to go.
Helen just said her Fitbit reckons we did at least 20km. Probably more.
Definitely feels like it.
Home now after another 2km walk.
Got halal guys again. 😆 SA GOood.
Really enjoy traveling with Helen - she will go source info so I don’t have to do it. Very police of her. Czytaj więcej

Met everyone in the foyer at 9. We were both dying. Not getting enough sleep. We went down the street to a diner place. Will needs to stop ordering eggs Benedict’s cause they aren’t the same and each time is confused by this 😆
Service tip/charge was $30 for the table. Non optional amount.
I’ve said once and I’ll say it again - entire country is a scam. 🙃
I had pancakes which were average. Served with fruits which I asked before I ordered “what type” - they said strawberries and pineapple - terrific - ordered. Came with 1 pineapple piece 3 strawberry bits at 47 melons. Ugh.
We went back to hotel for a 30 min nap but room service called halfway through to ask about towels😭😭😭
Walking zombie back to foyer at 11 to meet everyone to walk to the bus. Lots of standing around waiting. Not enough buses again.
Got on and took the bus down to stop 11. Cutting it fine 😬😬😬😬 was told to be at dock at 12:30. 12:30 we were still on the bus not at our stop. Was getting a little stressed cause it’s a lot of effort for no result and a completely wasted day.
We RAN. Me and Will dodged some traffic and we ran in the direction of a crossing 😅😆
Made it.
Got on the boat and found some window seats downstairs. Bought some popcorn and we were ready to go. Got great views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges as we drove/floated under. Can’t see the green trees in the picture well but they really beautied it up.
Could hear our guide over the engine but at least we had a live guide so far less cranky than when given a headset with rubbish recordings. Someone is actually working.
Saw the famous skyline where the twin towers were and just other great views from the boat. We did two trips past the Statue of Liberty so both sides of the boat could see. She is small. 92m or something all up but that includes her base. She is still obviously big but not obnoxious big like every movie. She doesn’t command the Harbour.
Love being with Helen, she like photos 😆😆
Had to stall in the Harbour a while cause our dock wasn’t ready.
Walked to our bus and amazingly got a seat. On way to hopefully get theatre tickets :)
Got tickets to Aladdin. George and Vicki coming too which I’m not overly fussed about. Don’t mind them coming but they both just seem cranky. If you don’t want to come then don’t come??
I hope I’m just misreading them.
We got the halal guys again. So bloody goooooood.
Having us time in the hotel. We are all socialed
out.
Walked to the theatre. It’s currently half time. It’s good but I’m not LOVING it. Maybe cause ive seen it before but I also think Sydney’s was better - Sydney theaters do it better cause they don’t have the limitation of space like the older theatres do. I felt the same with BIlly Eliot on the west end.
2nd half killed it. Everything improved and the magic carpet ride scene was amazing.
I will change my answer and say broadway has a slight edge because of sets and costume.
Actors still Sydney. The Genie is the same as Sydney one.
I enjoyed looking over at George and seeing him laugh. Not that funny but ok George 😆
Totally forgot to mention we had to change seats. Will couldn’t fit in the seats. Couldn’t even sit down let alone sit down and be uncomfortable. They were designed for 8 year old children. Even I nearly was too tall.
Got put to the side and sat on what looked like stand alone dinning room chairs hahaha
We walked back together to the hotel. Don’t like broadway at night and don’t like the racist accusations thrown at you.
Scam artists being like “why are you ignoring a black man” “ohhhh I see, you scared of a black man”
No. I just don’t want to give you money you clown.
Racism is rampant but you are not helping your cause accusing people when it’s not the reason.
Had a street hot dog went inside and crashed. Alarm set for in 5 hours time 😭😭😭😭
Love all the fire escapes on the outside of buildings. Czytaj więcej

New York

Met everyone downstairs
First ones as usual - story of my life.
Everyone reimbursed us which was great.
Walked a good decent amount to find the Empire State Building.
I was put on map duty so naturally we went to the wrong side of the building and had to work back around. 🥴🥴🥴
The line lady was so rude holy Moly. Just yelling at people. Just wanted to ask a question and just screaming GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE
“Can I just ask” I SAID GO TO THE BACK OF THE LINE
This whole time (my life) I have though a New York accent was some sort of European/American combo accent hahaha like half Italian or something.. nope.
Line was so long but people got kicked out of it if they were too early so we went straight to the front cause we had the opening time of 9am which definitely turned out to be a great choice.
It’s a maze to get to the top. If it was full, I can imagine it’s mayhem. Like the line for a rollerocaster.
It has exhibits along the way like a King Kong gorilla hand taking a chunk of the building and displays of all the movies featuring the building.
Can’t imagine the men who built it - They weren’t strapped to anything. Bonkers and straight up ballsy. Stupid, actually. 😆
Got to the top and it was a big room with views from windows and I was momentarily worried I had booked the wrong thing but did the rounds, got back on the elevator and went up another 8 levels to the outdoor viewing deck.
Beautiful.
Cold.
Great visibility so we were lucky!
Got a great group pic!
2 sides better than the others but all views great.
Went outside to look for food me and Helen but got accosted on the footpath by a bus tour person and we decided to get it.
Deal was $89 for 2 day access hop on/off bus. A ferry around Statue of Liberty and access to night tour.
Other 2 couples paid then our turn. Not 89 - 104 after hidden fees and taxes 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Loathe. It’s total BS.
Would have backed out If the others hadn’t already paid.
Cranky about that then even more cranky when we got on the bus and there was no live guide - just shitty headphones with audio that doesn’t always match where the bus is actually located.. and only spouts occasional facts anyway. 85% of the time it’s music. 😑😑😑😑😑😑
Saw nothing of note on the way as we went to stop 9 trying to find little Italy or little China. Couldn’t find anything but dirty streets.
Literally walked for ages and everyone is just so indecisive.
Found a Chinese place eventually. Not overly fussed by options but had sweet and sour pork which i at least recognized so herded everyone in.
Food was crap lol but appreciated they only asked for 15% tip.
Ate in Chinatown though so that’s a bucket list tick.
There was this high guy that used the toilet and was in there for 20 mins. He Is ok, but was concerned for his welfare for a wee bit. 😅
Walked to find the bus.
Next stop we agreed to get out was at Wall Street. We walked through battery park and I saw the Statue of Liberty from the distance. She is small.
We then went to see the raging bull.
Got a pic with its balls. The line was really long because we are a mature society.
Vicki (George’s wife is so negative about everything. No fun) hard to describe, just shakes her head and makes faces a lot. I don’t think she means to. Not a bad person but also not a vibe.
We then walked to the 911 memorial. It was beautiful.
George silently pointed out on of the firefighters who died had RET next to his name. I don’t know why this specifically upset me but I walked away do I didn’t start obviously crying. He had no obligate but helped anyway.
It was a very moving place. Very tasteful. The pools are on the footprints of were the building were. The new world trade building is super tall and next door.
Helen showed us a pub covered in emergency services badges - was full so we just popped our head in and a globe statue that was between the two buildings that survived. It originally represented world peace it now represents resilient and hope.
Had a look in the door at the local fire brigade too, they are/were obviously the first first responders.
Dude on the corner yelling some speech over and over again. Loved him hahah
We then walked until next bus stop.
They over sell tickets. And don’t have enough buses. Lucky we got on. Only ones that did. Big line and a 30 min wait and probs not getting on the next one because of the size of their group.
Got angry about the bus situation once I got back on. Waste of money for transportation.
I’ll need to let it go hahah
Once back we went to our room for a shower before walking to Resturant with everyone to meet Anita and her husband Glenn.
Took a gamble on that Anita might pay so bought pot pies which were expensive at $29 each.
Cha Ching! Hahahaha yewwwwwww.
Best Anita quote was “oh you both can’t eat gluten thats cute”
She also gave us a present with a bit of money bless them. They have nearly covered our stupid bus money 😆
Just really enjoyed talking with everyone but it was a happening place so hard to hear.
After we walked to bar nine which was a hoot and a half cause no one wanted to be there but Anita and hubby - having a great time bopping along.
Will got it in one - a great spot if I was 5 years younger, drunk and single. But we’re not haha
It was live singers taking requests. Neither particularly good but when they did a song you could belt with them I enjoyed. Vicki and George jut sat down by themselves looking miserable haha
Finally got out of there said goodbye and parted ways.
Will dying to poo so we rushed ahead - Had to organize toilet paper for Will cause we were out.
He had to sit there for ages but it did eventually come lol.
They don’t have sanitary bins here.
I will always be cranky we didn’t go to 911 museum. Was top of my list but no one else interested. 😢😪

New York

Annnnnd New York has saved America.
We have had a bloody good day.
We got up and went to go to the Natural History museum - we had to walk through Central Park to get there - bloody beautiful.
It’s autumn so the leaves are all different colours, and falling off, everyone is rugged up a bit.
Loved seeing people just walking their dogs or riding their bikes.
Walked past the carousel and other spots that just look so familiar cause they are in every movie/tv show.
Love the little ice cream stands about.
Museum had a great entrance with dinosaurs. We paid a couple dollars extra per ticket to get access to the planetarium show in the dome.
We first walked through lots of taxidermy animals which was cool but not overly interesting because they weren’t exotic animals it was like zebra and lions and stuff.
We then walked through a bunch of different cultural exhibits like Africa, Inca, America Indian etc.
We found Dum Dum from night at the museum. Even Will got a photo 😆
I like the exhibits most that have little figurines depicting scenes.
Also found a lot of pornographic kettles and what not. There was an Inca flute of people having anal.
Felt like I was on a school excursion again calling Will over to have a look hahah.
The South America sculptures were my clear fave.
We then went to the planetarium show.
So cool.
My pony tail was in the exact wrong spot for lookin up at the ceiling lol.
It also put me to sleep. I had maybe 4 micro naps. Cold not keep eyes open.
Immediately woke up once show was over.
Neat trick should put a projector on my ceiling.
The show was awesome. It just showed us other planets in our solar system and climates there.
Loved it.
We then went up to the dinosaur exhibits.
Clear favorite for me.
So many!!
Loved the T Rex. Loved all of them actually.
There was a complete triceratops Skelton for sale recently and if I were a mega millionaire it is absolutely something I could justify buying and putting in my lounge room.
I thought it was interesting that T Rex is the most famous but apparently a rare dinosaur. They only have bits from about 15.
Google search reckons 32. Don’t know which one to trust lol. Either way not overwhelming amounts from a perceived “common” dinosaur.
I also like exhibits where they literally only have one bone or a head and they just make up the entire body. 😆
We then went through other skeleton section of massive turtles, wooly mammoths etc.
We then did more taxidermy exhibits. The painted backgrounds are wonderful.
Got the shits and how the donors are labeled “Mr and Mrs Bob Williams.”
Women, give up your last name and you will also lose your first 🙃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Literally no identity. Pisses me right off.
Anyway.
Left.
Walked back through the park and decided to go to a Applebees. Decent food actually. I got. Strawberry, almond and chicken salad with balsamic glaze. Seemed random but I liked all ingredients so had a try.
Nice.
We then walked to Rockefeller centre. Underwhelmed to say the least. It was cool to see them setting up the ice rink but it was so much smaller than I expected. Im baffled where they even fit the tree?
On we went to find the national library which ended up being a delightful surprise. I just wanted to pop in to the foyer to see Winnie the Poo toys but the building itself ended up being beautiful. We walked up a few levels and found people studying in massive rooms with beautiful ceilings.
Went hunting for Poo and found an entire exhibition it was apart of that had such important and significant historical stuff like a handwritten copy of the Declaration of Independence, the bill of rights, Shakespearean first folio, Virginia Woolfs walking stick, Charles dickens writing desk and chair, the first printing of King James Bible, and of course Winnie the Poo and friends! 💕
I would have actually paid for entry but it was free. Yewww.
We then headed to hotel cause everyone had arrived and met them at the bar.
My hug with everyone was so good. Long and tight especially with Helen snd George. We spent a long time just chatting before heading to a diner Helen suggested. I got the noodle soup on her recommendation from 12 years ago. Didn’t rate it but was only $12 so I’ll let it slide.
$30 and her and I would be having some words hahahah.
More talking.
Back to the hotel for more talking. A lot was just explaining to each other how each other’s countries work. 😅
Helen got us coasters from Lichtenstein as a present and George got us chocolate covered blueberries, maple syrup, jam and honey. 🤤🤤🤤
we didn’t get them anything and we feel bad 😬
Meeting them all in the foyer at 8am to go to Empire State Building.
At the diner there were plaques all around of famous people who have been - Matt Damon, Paul McCartney, Ricki Martin, Jennifer Love Hewitt etc.
Apparently The university of Texas cheerleaders have also attended….. cause they are in the same league…
Currently eating the blueberries and they are so gooooooood. Czytaj więcej

Transit

Got up at 7, left by 7:30.
It’s extra good that the clocks go back an hour so we have extra hour wiggle room for fuck ups.
Will drive the whole way - bless him.
And I continued reading.
Full into it hey. Haven’t had a book obsession like this is months.
We got near the airport but had to return the car with a full tank so we went searching for a petrol station - Will ended up in the wrong lane so we took a wrong turn… and ran a red light. Too busy watching traffic trying to merge. Ah well haha.
Found a place. $1 more a gallon than literally every place on the way. Booooo
Wanted to pay in cash but you have to pre pay and giving the exact amount in cash was too confusing so card won lol. $70USD lameeeeee.
We dropped the car off. Hoping there isn’t a cleaning fee cause it’s a bit dusty and “snow marked”
Good news is I can get over the cleaning fee if there is one because got an email receipt saying “no new damage” so that’s a plus.
2/3 things sorted. Just need our claim to be accepted and I can breath again lol.
Have been trying to organize the delirium beer tour in Belgium for Will - they have 2 tours available - neither convenient because we are in the wrong city but doable. (Was meant to do when staying in Ghent not Brussels but still only an hour train so 🤷🏼♀️)
It’s literally his only request for the whole trip so I will try get us in if I can.
Dropped car and had to get a bus to terminal 3.
Then did our bag drop.
Seamless process. Good job JetBlue. Even asked if I wanted to print boarding passes instead of just using electronic. Yes please.
Went to TSA.
Was in the wrong line and wanted to clarify cause it didn’t seem right. It said pre check?
Didn’t know if that mean it was a pre check before TSA or for people who had been pre checked.
I asked security dude and he was like have you done your pre check and I said I don’t know what that is and he was all “did you get interviewed by the government”
Interviewed by the government is a bit excessive to have the only benefit be a slightly shorter line and you don’t have to remove your shoes but ok bud. No we haven’t been pre checked.
Went to other line lol.
Checked our passport then we did the tedious bag check. Takes so much more time when everyone has to remove all their clothing.
One dude kept his belt on and when being scanned was told to remove and he said “it’s plastic”
Didn’t matter. They got cranky lol.
Went to Burger King and it was a huuuuuge line but we hungry.
I think we timed it all perfectly. When we finished eating we had 40 mins til boarding. Wiggle room but not excessive wait time.
Had to get a tram to our gate. Went loo, Will hot spotted my kindle so I could buy the next book in the series cause I anticipated finishing on the plane then it was pretty much time to board.
We aren’t siting together. We COULD pick our seats at check in. (My only complain with this airline is that option not on the website earlier) but we were late checking in yesterday so all the seats gone AND only middle row seats available 🙃
I got the one in front of him so at least we know the person in front of him won’t recline on his legs.
Sitting on the plane and very impressed.
1 - entertainment screens with great selection of movies.
2 - free Wi-Fi
3 - decent room
4 - got an email telling me our bags have been loaded onto our plane (included plane/flight number)
5 - free drink x 2 and a snack
All in all a great flight.
Only 4h 15m rather that 4h 50m so I’m pleased.
15 mins from landing at the moment and I’m in a good mood.
We are going to decide when we get off depending on how he feels if we get a taxi or try figure out the trains to the hotel.
20% through the second book already haha.
Stay tuned.
We opted for a taxi only cause it’s New York at night and might come across as easy targets lol.
Had a Dunkin’ donut to hold us out until dinner. Donut stale but excellent icing.
Our taxi dude was an absolute chattabox. Very into languages. He knew a couple languages fluently and then words and phrases of many - didn’t have the heart to tell him his pronunciation was wrong on a lot of words such as thanks as welcome in Hebrew and friend in Chinese.
Checked in. They at least gave clear guidance of what was going to happen money wise.
It’s $500 deposit which will be returned to us at checkout. At checkout we will pay the resort fee. I prefer this way so some of the money stays in my bank.
Our room is an odd shape and our aircon is malfunctioning making such a loud noise that I laughed when we entered the room and said how very New York that they are doing jackhammer construction by or window at 9pm at night.
Only they weren’t. It’s the air con 😬😬
I couldn’t find the remote and it was setting me on edge I nearly went to reception and ask them to either come fix it/turn off or switch us rooms.
It’s like a fire alarm noise. Intolerable and anxiety inducing. Great for a fire always not great for aircon.
Found the wall switch. Room is cool enough so it shall just remain off.
We went walking to try find the halal guys food truck.
We are so content.
$8 for my meal $10 for Wills large. $1 drink each.
$20 and we are both fed, watered and full.
10 POINTS TO NEW YORK.
We then walked to time square. Lots of billboards. Very cluttered. Felt a little unsafe tbh. Lots of shady characters out and about.
Still, New York smashing its American competitors.
Back at the hotel now and our claim has been approved 😭😭😭😭
I destressed for about 3 minutes. Now stressed I gave the wrong account details.
I hate myself 😭😂 Czytaj więcej

Zion National Park

Had a wee sleep in this morning which was nice. Can’t do what we had planned so hardly going to take the whole day to see some stuff.
Had a shower which was deliciously warm cause I was COLD.
Got cracking.
There is a shuttle bus stop outside our lodge. It was the wrong bus but long story short the driver took us to where we needed to go. (Visitors centre)
We then got on the correct bus up the canyon. We decided to start at the top and work our way down so we got off at stop 9.
I had heard about the boardwalk walk and asked if we could do a little bit.
To my great surprise Will lasted the whole way.
It was beautiful. The rock faces go up so high
Loooove the stream. We had a debate whether it’s a creek, stream or river. I think either but not river. Lol 🤔🤔
Lots of people wearing special pants and shoes to wade through the stream for part of their hike.
An old bird took a long while to get 10m. Turn back, love.
Walked back and got the shuttle down to stop 5 cause I sneakily read on someone’s map while on the bus, that there was a quick walk there too.
Lower emerald pools walks I believe it was called.
Beautiful. Stoked we got 2 walks in so it doesn’t feel like a wasted trip.
We saw a wild tarantula which was pretty cool.
Spent a solid 5 mins trying to get a good pic of me on a rock but the lighting was a bust. I blend into the trees. Need to wear Fluro.
Will was done which was a - ok. Still so thankful. We were hungry so decided we would go to the pizza place for lunch then have cereal for dinner to keep costs down except it was closed and didn’t open for another 2 hours 😭
Checked in AND SUCESSFULLY ADDED BAGS 🎉 thank goodness. Praise God 😭
I have been so stressed.
We went next door to the pizza and noodle place (which I think is a great way to say pasta)
Actually great food. I had a garlic pizza with tomato, spinach and pineapple which was great. Not ingredients I’d normally put together.
100 yeses to pineapple on pizza 💍😍😍
We then came back and I literally sat in the bath for 2-3 hours just refilling it when it got a little cold. I had THE BEST TIME 😂😂😂
Gonna have to get a bath tub in the lounge room when we build a house 👌🏻👌🏻😆😆
I read a lot of my book.
It’s called Summer by Audrey Gray. How do you define your favorite author? The author of your favorite series or the author you have read the most books/series from?
For most of my favorite reads - It’s the only work of the authors I’ve read.
this is my second series of hers and both are fabulous.
Does this make her my fav?
Philosophical bath questions.
I packed before bed cause we are flying tomorrow and wanted to make sure there was some set of order to the madness.
We don’t have to leave at 4 am to do an early check anymore yewwww so getting up at 7.
Also fun addition to my American experience that is surely a problem to other woman and a huge oversight.
Normally wear my period undies but for hygiene has switched back to disposables just for the trip - if you don’t know when you can next wash your stuff .. bit gross.
ANYWAY - I think I’ve mentioned the toilet water is stupidly high here (and many countries we have been too) but I legit sat on the loo and my tampon string was less than 1cm from touching the water.
What the actually crap. That is disgusting and has absolutely been an ongoing problem for other people. If I had relaxed a bit it would have touched.
How is this a thing.
Imagine your string touching but having no backup and having to keep your dirty toilet water tampon in.
I don’t want toilet water not only touching, but remaining next to my vagina.
Omg 🤢🤢🤢🤢
Can’t wait to read this back in a few years.
What a ride. Czytaj więcej

Horseshoe Bend

Slept better than expected considering we both napped. Really like the bed and pillows.
Went over to have our free breakfast buffet - much better than yesterday it had pancakes and bacon. We both had pancakes - our waiter bothered to mention today that the tip wasn’t included booooo lol. I prefer yesterday when we left without a tip and with a free conscience lol.
People before us only left a few $1’s so we left $3.
Went back to our room and packed.
-7 absolutely dying. Couldn’t be bothered getting undressed to put a bra on so opted to go without and just chucked more layers on.
It was a very unorganized pack. Will have to redo once at Zion.
We sat in the car for about 10 mins waiting for the ice to defrost so we could leave. We then just popped across the road to get petrol. Can’t get mad about this part because it’s my oversight and not because America is stupid like most of my other complaints but never considered petrol for the budget. It cost $70AUD for half a tank. Who needs money?
You have to put your credit card in before you even begin putting petrol in.
No faith in its citizens.
We then got on our way towards Horseshoe bend in Arizona which is about a 2.5 hour detour but it’s such a famous spot and we were in vicinity so felt obliged.
Drive was lovely. Brilliant scenery. Much more exciting than Aussie bush. The rock mountain are divine - especially when covered in snow like they were for the first 45 mins of the drive.
Lots of little towns I couldn’t live in along the way. Population of 15 but there was one town called Kanab. Could live there, great vibe.
It also had a Maccas. SOLD.
I kept checking in on Will cause I was DYING. My eyes were falling out my head so I asked if he’d mind if I had a nap hahah
Only like a 15 min one cause then we were there.
Cost $10 to park the car then it was a 2.4km round trip.
I didn’t realize there would be a walk so I had to sneakily put a bra on in the car park in the back seat haha.
Relatively flat but lots of people out there with their camel packs and hiking sticks hahah.
View both wonderful and not as WOW as I was expecting. I was expecting it further away. You can’t actually see the bottom of the horseshoe with out making a point to look down. I would like to just look forward and see it all?
Pictures are great because it can do the 0.5 feature.
Will was cranky and crashing so it wasn’t a happy stop. 😔
He wants me to delete insta and fb cause I took some selfies.
1. I have gone the last 2 years without a single photo of us minus when we bought a house. I don’t think I have an addiction problem.
2. I want evidence I was here.
3. We have been together 10 years how do you not know the importance of photos to me? Memories are so important.
4. And most importantly. I don’t want selfies. I want my husband to take candid photos like I do for him but that doesn’t happen does it so Imma take my selfies. 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
The walk back was bad. He was so absent.
In the car he said he was exhausted. We are going to go to the doctor in Belgium if still isn’t better.
It’s becoming a bit of a joke now. He hasn’t had a voice for 4-5 days now. We are out of his ibuprofen he got from the doctor but still has sore throat so we bought more lozenges at Walmart. (No bad outfits to our great sadness)
We have come to these national parks specifically to hike but can’t. 🤷🏼♀️😔
We then did our Walmart trip and found food. We were going to try Denny’s until I realized it’s a Resturant and therefore needs a tip. NOPE. Off to Burger King we went.
We are en route to Zion now with 1.5 hours to go. I want to drive but I feel so sleepy and also nervous. There isn’t enough stopping bays for my liking.
Approx 10 mins after I wrote that Will said he wanted to change drivers 😬😬
So I put on my big girl pants.
Had a little cry cause I got overwhelmed by all the buttons. It’s a BMW so everything is automatic like moving the chair forward and just 100 more buttons which is scary 😆
As I pulled out I realized I had forgotten to fix my rear view mirror and was stressed cause I didn’t know what button to press. Busy concentrating on not getting us killed to be fiddling.
I did well I think :)
I missed our exit… but I fixed it.
STAY RIGHT STAY RIGHT STAY RIGHT over and over and over in my head.
I also nearly hit a deer. I spotted it before Will started frantically signaling but he thinks I was gonna hit it.
I was A OK until we got to the park. We paid the entry and then it became this skinny windy road with mounting goats appearing from everywhere but I was most stressed in the tunnel. It went for like 2km and it was so dark and I didn’t know which of the 100 buttons turned on my lights became twisting the knob didn’t work. Will yelled at me cause I nearly hit the wall and I yelled back I am trying my best. It was really scary.
Dislike.
But we made it. He had to fix my park.
We went to the grocery store and bought some milk and cereal.
Our room is really weird. Our bath tub is in the middle of the room.
Had a bath. Changed my mind - great idea I can watch the telly at the same time haha Czytaj więcej

Bryce canyon

Woke up and went to our free breakfast buffet. We went at the very end so bit scarce. But free is free.
It snowed A LOT overnight. Our car was completely covered.
Not a problem we are use to dealing with. 🤔
We did our best getting it off but I got wet and got lots of snow in the car 😅
When we went to leave the car censors where freaking out from the snow. Beep beep beeeeeeeeep.
We decided to do the scenic route except once we got into the park we found that the route was closed from the snow. So we went the other way which had some view points to go to. We went to Bryce viewpoint, Paria viewpoint, Inspiration view point, Sunrise viewpoint and we did Sunset viewpoint again because we figured with the snow it would look different to how it did yesterday.
All of them STUNNING.
Love the hoodoos.
I think Bryce is my favorite and Sunrise is second but all terrific.
Should write a blog. Everything online is so bloody confusing and the park is literally one long street with viewpoint turnoffs. Once you get to the end you can’t go any further. Not the complicated labyrinth described online. Also parking everywhere. (Technically one fork but also a dead end)
*British accent*
FUKIN FREEZING.
Our hands are icicles.
It’s -6 🥶
At least I’m able to reuse clothes cause I’m definitely not sweating 😅
Will still doing a bang up job as my personal photographer. What a good husband.
Floor was slippery but I had my hiking boots. Feeling semi smug over here cause Will thought I was stupid for bringing them. Muahhaha
When we got back we went to the Resturant for lunch and it’s the first meal where I’m not mad about paying. $17 for all you can eat buffet and it was gooood. Their was a salad bar and cooked veggies 😍😍😭😭
Went back to room and I had a big nap, woke up then Will had a big nap. Probably a stupid decision but we shall see 😬 main job is driving tomorrow.
I AM STRESSED about our flight to New York. Actually beside myself. Had to come up with a plan B of maybe flying from LA instead cause it’s meant to be American Airlines but they have put us on an blue jet plane. I was told I could pick seats. Apparently I can’t pick seats. They are still saying I can add bags 24 hours before flight … but what if I can’t add bags.
We are totally fucked and it will cost us like $3500 to fix the problem.
Big prayers tonight.
I am already so stressed about money I have such a tight chest. We have gone over budget Every. Single. Day and we haven’t even done anything. I hate this country. Will despises Morocco. This is my Morocco.
We are THOUSANDS of dollars out and that’s even with Dad paying for so much in Vegas.
If we don’t get our travel insurance refund I don’t know what we are going to do.
Just down the rabbit hole atm tbh.
We forgot to check our car for damage before we left. I don’t know why. I think we were flustered because of the price hike and we just drove off and now I’m like omg what if there is damage we haven’t registered. I got insurance but I also have a document full of legal jargon. What if there is a loop hole.
My chest I can’t even.
We went to dinner and got some entrees like wings and mozzarella sticks cause buffet was $27 each and I just can’t ok.
Waiter let us get a salad plate each for free though so I’m less made about his tip.

Packed this morning and met Mum and dad downstairs to say bye.
They opted not to get off the bus last night but told us this morning that the bus then broke down and didn’t get home til after 11:30 😂
I’ve got a spicy review in my drafts haha
When we checked out we got charged for 4 mini bar purchases 😪😪😪
I don’t understand the receipt because even though they supposedly deleted the charges for us I owe $46.
Nothing in our time has cost $46 - not a late check in fee not a resort fee. Nothing.
Awaiting when they release our money. As long as they release $700 I’ll settle.
Got a taxi to the bnb.
Man alive they would have dropped some dough this week going back and forth.
$34 one way.
But absolutely worth it cause we picked up washing, got to say bye, dropped off our bags/my ring and got a free lift to the airport. Yewww.
Bill heading back to airport with us cause their hire car didn’t come with GPS and he has the shits. lol
Get to counter, originally got quoted incorrectly - we also want a gps but they have none so have to change cars for an extra $350.
This country istg.
Did it because I don’t trust Wills Wi-Fi connection.
Glad we did it cause connection was weak in the car but mannnnnn.
Glad Will is driving. My brain has trouble flipping to other side of the road. Brain has trouble with a lot of things. Lol
It took around 4 hours. We went through the corner of Arizona to get to Utah. The backdrop is beautiful.
Looong drive but finally arrived.
Wicked cold.
Check in dude said it’s meant to snow overnight. 👀
It was quite late, I was over driving and also instructions unclear so opted to just go to one view point quickly before sunset.
Chose sunset point.
Loved it. Absolutely beautiful.
It was so windy and cold.
Went back and got groceries. Expensive still but at least we got salad ♥️
Spent hours going through wedding pics and just relaxing cause it’s cold outside but our heater is dong a bang up job. Czytaj więcej

Not off to a cracking start. We found the pick up point easily and Helen agreed to take our luggage which is AMAZING but the bus seats are garbage. When we walked in the bus I heard someone say sit at the table but it had reserved signs in them so I walked past. Apparently they were for groups.
I go to a Resturant and see a reserved sign I don’t sit there if I didn’t call and make a booking. Same thing. But now I’m mad and Will is too that we are stuck separated from everyone in tiny seats. 😪
Just annoyed about why i got pestered “why didn’t you sit at the table” BECAUSE I DIDNT OK
Not vibing the bus driver or tour guide.
We stopped to get breakfast and wowza. No organization. Total waste of time.
We drove over the Hoover dam. Shouldn’t be in their advert if you don’t actually get to visually see it though..
Drove for 2 hours very uncomfortably then stopped at a Route 66 stop that cars was based off. Cool to see cause I could see the likeness.
Back on the bus and the bombshell I’m fucking furious about is our options are pay $20 to do walking tour or walk 3 miles by yourself maybe get lost and pay $1200 fine if lost..
UHM. I have bought this particular tour specifically as it is NOT a walking tour and was appropriate for Mum.
Can’t even look at her right now.
Talked to the tour guide dude and asked about shuttle buses and he knew nothing “I just do the walking tour”
Bruv. Your job is tour guide. You should know about the company you work for and the place you work at?????????
I’m fuming.
We have all signed up for the walking tour cause maybe there is a private bus or something idk. Lots of whispers going up and down the bus trying to organize.
No tip today idgaf. Absolutely not.
I literally got a message this morning talking about wearing masks in the shuttle buses.
Ok so on our way back now.
The canyon it self is awesomely beautiful. We went to a view point up top and then took our bus down to the next stop which is also our final stop.
Fuming that the map guide he handed out was very simple. Free shuttle buses from our points 1 and 2. Didn’t need to pay for your tour, bud 🙃
But also gave lots of people the wrong map 👍🏼👏🏼
Tour guide is a lie. We walk 200 meters as a group and he occasionally helped take a photo and told us not to fall of the edge. That’s about it. No knowledge was shared about the grand canyon itself. NOTHING. Not even about flowers or animals in the area. He was also so unprofessional it was astounding.
“You know I’m saying G, I feel ya dog, oh shiiiiiiit.”
What. Speak properly. Your are working right now.
People asked questions and he answered I don’t know.
Wtf man.
Views beautiful but not relevant to him or the company. I smell a review coming along 👃🏾👃🏾
Took lots and lots of photos. Will participated ♥️♥️♥️ Need to find him a good job sticker.
Glad we came but would not recommend company. Couldn’t organize root in brothel.
There was a dog with shoes.
Back on the bus 😩
It been hours now and I don’t think we are even close and it’s FUCKING FREEZING. I’ve got 2 jumpers on.
We stopped at a servo to change drivers and it’s the whole bus with 2 toilets and one cashier lady 👍🏼
Over ittt.
I hope soon I was stop using my daily entries just to bitch 😆😆😆😆
Our new driver was awful and Will was starting to feel sick. We got picked up 6am and it was past 10pm. 2 hours behind schedule. Get fucked so we opted to jump of the bus and walk the last bit of the strip.
So glad to see my bed. Czytaj więcej

Vegas

Met Mum and Dad In the foyer and bought big bus tickets, then got on our way trying to find a pick up point. (Will went to bnb to play with Jax) Their website is garbage. So unhelpful. Helen said something about the Paris hotel the other day so walked there. Nope. Had to walk back the way we came and go behind Flamingos to mums delight in the heat. More exercise this morning than the last year. 😆
Eventually found our stop and waiting a while for the bus. Vegas is NOT big on providing seats. No where to sit at all times. Veryyy sunny.
Our tour guide was Lindsay and she was really good. Our first POI was a Resturant that used to be a mob hideout and has connecting tunnels underground to all the casino.
We drove on for a while and just looked at arty sections with cool murals and stuff and a boxing gym (Johnny Toccos) where ***** trained.
There was also a cannabis dispensary drive through lol.
We eventually got to the mob museum stop where we decided to get out.
Dad bought the tickets - he couldn’t decide which one to get. He is so annoying, he does this with garlic bread every single time we go to a Resturant - if you want Garlic bread then order garlic bread. If you want to do an interactive activity then get that ticket. Especially if your the on paying. Who cares about anyone else you get to pick lol. Stop self sacrificing. Doesn’t matter if I’m not keen just do it. 😩
I always feel bad when I say no I don’t want garlic bread. I’m glad he bought the interactive tickets. 😆
Very pleased for him when he gets a little win.
Mob museum was cool however I don’t think it was good for entry level. If you have no prior knowledge, which I don’t cause mob/gang stuff doesn’t tickle my fancy it wasn’t overly good at setting up the story. Still interesting to read all the stuff.
Really like the the saint Valentine’s Day wall massacre exhibit. It was the brick wall where they all got shot. They then had I’ll call them autopsy findings which showed where they were shot and then the bullets they retrieved from their bodies.
Lots. Lots and lots.
This was the best bit of the whole place.
We then went down a level and watched a video of trials of some of the mobsters - found this interesting too but couldn’t watch all of it because we were late to our interactive crime lab activity.
At the crime lab was 5 activities. One was a digital body we had to determine cause of death. We all watch way too many crime shows and we got it quickly. Common sense but still lol.
Eg is self defense marks not drag marks on hands because not scratches.
Next one was a dna one which was stupid. Just had to match the dnd to suspects.
3rd was a fingerprint one which I liked. Had my finger scanned and then had to figure out what type of finger print I had. Then The computer matched my type to a mobster and printed it which I was happy about so I had something to stick in my journal haha.
4th was looking under a microscope at fibers (stupid)
And 5th was gun bullet analysis which we all failed hardcore in. We all agree we would need more convincing in court. Looked nothing alike to us.
We then skipped a lot of the museum and left to go back to bus stop. Perfect timing, walked straight on which was fab cause it’s 45 mins between buses.
New tour guide not newly as good. Creepy is the word I’d use and rude.
He wasn’t detailed like the other lady he would vaguely wave his hand on the right is this… can’t see it bud. Other lady would be like behind the red building you will see a palm tree, it’s just behind that. Thank you Lindsay, that’s helpful.
New dudes name was Art I think and he just made lots of jokes about watching naked people a lot and they didn’t land. He was 70, fat with a pony tail and just greasy vibes.
Drove past some of the casinos we won’t get to explore like New York, New York, Luxor and Excalibur.
Then past the Vegas sign which is tiny??? Glad we didn’t make a specific trip.
Vegas is stupid. It’s too big. That’s my official stance. It’s also just a lot of parking lots. They spend so much money blowing up old casinos and building new ones with not a second thought for the in between stuff.
Bus driver was due for a break so we all got off for 30 mins and had lunch. We had Popeyes chicken and dad was losing his shit at the menu for no reason. “Do you understand any of this fucking shit?”
Huff puff huff.
Yes?
Sandwich means burger, that’s the only difference. But it’s a picture of a burger sooooo I don’t understand the hissyfit. I think its a combo of many small frustrations cause completely invalid reason to spit the dummy BUT I am so on board for his frustration at the entire country which I presume was what that actually was lol. The straw that broke the camel.
Then after all that, the chicken was crap but kept my mouth shut Hahaha. Free food is great food.
Got back on bus for one stop to finish tour then got off and walked back to home.
Once in the hotel I went to ask FedEx for a quote about sending luggage/dress home.
Eek! $400 for a base quote of 10kg. Didn’t include size of case measurements or Australian custom prices.
Fast forwarding to our solution, Helen has agreed to take it with them and I could cry in thanks.
Went back upstairs to go to room and my key card isn’t working. Lucky Will returned same time cause ceebs wait at the front desk behind 500 people for someone to fix it.
Spent the next hour trying to organize our tour for tomorrow by getting everyone’s lunch orders.
Sorted 👍🏼
Met Mum and dad in the foyer and went to maccas then to the Mirage for Shins show.
But before we did dad told everyone about he spat the dummie at Starbucks.
“Long story short” proceed to tell 5 minute story about America service and the donut inspectors and assist donut inspector.
Not having a good time at the food places hey.
Our seats were fabulous, dead center a few rows from the front.
The assisting act was sensational - Colin Cloud. He was on AGT or BGT too.
Hilariously witty. His trick is reading minds.
Some tricks were guessing birthdays and facts and stuff. Hard to explain but bonkers. Hard to believe people not in on it.
He was honestly part comedian too. Whole crowd laughing.
Shin was sensational too. He is much much much better when silent and just doing magic with body language. When speaking he is flustered.
His first trick didn’t work for me so I became nervous for the whole show and he dropped some cards a few times and I was stressed but he smashed it. One of his main tricks the volunteer sucked cause she wasn’t responsive.
Can’t even remember the trick but she picked the 4 of hearts and thousands of 4 hearts fell from the ceiling. The best part was his AGT trick with the signed cards in the bags. Blown away.
Also just his general slight of hand stuff 🤯🤯🤯
I nearly got picked 3 times to go on stage. Unsure if intentional or not but I kept dodging the stuff thrown in the audience to pick next contestant lol. Would have loved to but couldn’t answer the question “we don’t know each other so we” so though best not to.
Shin and Casey came out after show to meet everyone with there dogs. A little awkward but fine.
Will, dad, Jess and I did some gambling can’t go to Vegas and not gamble. Will did some roulette but mainly the pokies.
Nobody won anything. Shocking 😏
Finally got ourselves to bed.
Good day. 🥰 Czytaj więcej

Wedding day

Wedding day! 🕺🏻
Had a good chat with Will in the loo around 3am.
Off to a cracking start, we’re gonna be stuffed.
The planning was all very last minute so It didn’t line up perfectly. I had to meet the girls downstairs at 9 but Will wasn’t meeting dad until 9:45 so I told him as long as he had pants on he could sleep longer. 😆
Jess and Helen brought nibbles and I’m such an ungrateful turd cause I didn’t like any of it except the strawberries.
I hate breakfast food. It’s a constant problem. I don’t want your pastries 😭 but I tried to eat some cause I didn’t think I would have a chance to eat for entire day and that could end in tears.
I was stressed about hair and make up people became I was told I’d have to meet them and then bring them up and my phone isn’t cooperating. I had given them Jess’ number but then she was leaving to go get her hair done and I was worried I couldn’t contact them but they the artists found their own way and knocked on our door and I felt the stress leave my body.
My hair lady was Brittany and she was chatty which I appreciated. And she did a cracking job. Better than my trial because I asked for the bun hairs to go up and down and not twist around which she did.
Make up I was happy with until the end. I was unhappy with the eyeliner underline and my lipstick and I got a bit sad about it actually but kept it to myself mainly. I told everyone I was annoyed but I got upset in the bathroom. 😔
Nothing could be done. Better that look than me try to fix it and make it worse. I figured it would still look nice in the long distant pics which are the type I was most excited for anyways.
Positive thoughts Angharad.
Next thing I got the shits about was that I was standing around in my dress for like 30 mins waiting for someone to help me do it up.
Helllooooo.
Was being dramatic cause I was sad about my face I think.
Jess and Helen brought up my bouquet for me when they came back from my hair appointment so at least that was done. We were still going to be late though and still wasn’t 100% sure about pickup location.
Went downstairs and boys were not at the meeting point. 😪 ffs.
Called Will and he seemed cranky so I was like ok no big reveal moment. Setting myself up for disappointment so don’t worry about it.
Just waited for them In the foyer and they finally turned up.
I suppose the positive is I didn’t cry and ruin my makeup.
I think he gave me an aw. 🙄
Didn’t get a moment with my dad which I was sad about too.
Lots of happy comments from strangers though.
Anyways found the limo so that was the main bit done.
Had the paperwork and rings so we got on our way. It was about and hour 15 ride. I was next to Jax and he was showing me Mario kart.
We had a quick stop on the way because we were early so everyone bought lots of snacks.
Once we got there the minister talked to just me and Will in the limo. We needed a witness and I picked dad cause didn’t want Bill cause they have same name and Mum is life skill useless and didn’t want her as the main person just in case something ever needs verifying later because she wouldn’t be helpful.
Walked around the corner and went into a little nook. It was lovely, I was worried I’d be unhappy with the spot but I wasn’t. I was also really happy with the ceremony. I liked the vows and we had 2 bible verses. The love is patient one and the what God brings together let know man separate one which I was stoked about because that was the only verse I ever really wanted.
Will was excellent. He smiled and supported me when I cried (started crying as soon as the ceremony started 😅😅😅 ) but then my voice also broke when I said I take him as my husband.
He was rubbing my hand with his thumb ♥️
Very emotional. Very happy.
I now pronounce you husband and wife was a great moment.
“Introducing Mr and Mrs William Pickering” was not.
But it didn’t ruin the whole thing only because everyone laughed because they knew how shitty I’d be about it. I have a name. But there understanding lightened it for me.
We then got group pics which I’m really excited to see.
Then me and Will went and got some individuals.
Also pumped.
I have high hopes.
We went to 5 different spots I think. Everyone else just hung out in the van.
Will was so cooperative I was so pleased and appreciative. He made the day good for me. ♥️ he smiled and participated 😭🥰♥️.
Jaxon was a delight. Wouldn’t even know he was there.
We then started the journey home.
I don’t think anything noteworthy happened on the way home just chitchat.
Gave the driver all 3 peoples tips and I’m pretty sure he was cranky I only gave the minimum. Bill gave him specifically another $20.
If you want more then ask for more. If $50 isn’t actually good enough then say $100 to begin with 🤷🏼♀️
Jess went to drop Jax back at the bnb cause she ordered a babysitter for dinner.
I went and took my veil off then we all went over to Gordon Ramsays Hell’s Kitchen. I wanted McDonald’s but Bill said that was uNaCepTabLe so we went fancy Instead and offered to pay.
We all got the set meal which included his signature beef Wellington and sticky date pudding.
For entree we had options of a beet salad or scallops.
It was ok.
Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection but actual taste was nice but again nothing WOW. It was also cold.
Dessert was lovely but we were all too full and it too was cold.
In conclusion I didnt rate and am sad we didn’t get McDonalds.
Dad and Bill did lovely toasts. ♥️
Dad said I looked Beautiful 🥰
It’s the tip that fucks you over the most. Despise.
We then went out separate ways. So good to take off my shoes.
Overall loved every minute In the desert. The before and after weren’t perfect but being with Will and family made me happy.
I’m a happy wife. Czytaj więcej

We both slept 🎉🎉🎉
Met Mum and Dad by the fountain in the foyer and went to cafe Americana for Breakfast. I laughed when Mums pancakes came out. HUGE. So unnecessarily. She ate 1 of 3. Even Dad only finished 2/3 of his and the man can EAT.
Will didn’t like his hollandaise sauce which presumably ruined his meal. I got avo toast and it was good.
At some point dad was telling a story and then suddenly started talking about being in Philadelphia years ago and mentioned negro’s and there was a black lady at next table and I low key wanted to die. Holy moly. Shut up. Bad as Bill. Also at some point he was talking about abo’s too 🤦🏼♀️😪.
We then went to each other’s room to collect and dump stuff.
Then off to the pharmacy for Mum to get a toothbrush. Then continued walking to show dad the Paris casino cause I liked it. Lots of walking and Will started going downhill again so we found him a drink and sat for a bit. Dad super angry about rules about getting a drink. Not a clue what he is on about cause I asked for a drink and they gave me a drink…?
We then walked back to hotel.
I’ve had a 2 hour nap which I definitely should not had had with the wedding tomorrow but the heat takes it out of you. The casino smoke is also not good for my chest. It’s very tight.
Decided we would go to the bnb Jess, Jax, Bill and Helen are at.
About a 15 minute Uber but the Trevor bank paid for it 🙌🏼🙌🏼😭😭
Love their bnb. So spacious and I can’t explain how or why but just very American. Very spacious. and can imagine a party with 50 people standing around with red cups.
We sat by the pool and chit chatted. Will did an amazing job keeping Jax entertained which I’m sure Jax LOVED. They played on his Nintendo switch, played ping pong and pool.
We ordered pizza and had some drinks and just more chit chat.
Actually had a really nice night.
We sussed out some basic logistics for tomorrow so hopefully it all goes smoothly.
We got an Uber home, I’ve got my wedding stuff ready on the table. Will just watching videos 🙄😆 Czytaj więcej

Didn’t sleep again. Terrific.
We were still up watching house hunters and other reno shows while waiting for Wills next pill time which was like 4am 👍🏼
Got some Zzz and up by 9:30.
Dad not replying to me which is stressing me out because I’d assume like a normal person he would use his phone during his layover. I’m hoping it’s not because they have been denied entry and put back on a long plane to Australia or mums been arrested for drug smuggling. Lolz.
I have no idea what time they are meant to arrive so just wasting our morning waiting really. Really need to get to the courthouse.
Would leave them to fend for themself if reception had seating. But it doesn’t and Mum will be dying by now so we will wait. Got so stressed I even activated my global roaming again in case he can’t see email and because Wills phone is off - tried to send a text but doesn’t work.
Day 3 of 3 of roaming for no reason. LOVE wasting money.
This morning we have showered then walked to get Will a new charger quickly. We walked past the bellagio fountain show except it wasn’t on yet. Must actually see before we go, not having mch luck with it. 🤦🏼♀️
Went the long way to the pharmacy cause there was this half naked dude angry yelling at anyone and anything and frankly could have become violent so we walked around him
How good are drugs though 👍🏼👍🏼
Got him a new cord and some apples cause we both feel vitamin deficient.
Just waiting.
More waiting.
Very quickly getting simultaneously angry and unbelievably stressed.
Sent dad a text off Wills phone cause it charged in time basically saying don’t know where you are and we need to leave and that they need to check in early.
Literally as we were leaving the hotel they were walking in and I cried in relief. Dad said his phone was on airplane mode.
You are not on an airplane Trevor.
It’s literally the first thing they tell you when you land “it’s 8:05 local time and you may now switch your phone off airplane mode.” 🙄
We went to maccas cause we hadn’t eaten and it’s the cheapest option 🤷🏼♀️
Then walked up a bit to the Venician hotel which was nice on the outside and got a taxi from there to the marriage license bureau.
Just had to line up for maybe 10 mins then got seen by a lady. We had to verify ID, swear under oath with our right hand up that our info was accurate (lol) , pick our certificate design and pay. We then walked about 500m to the pawn store from Pawn Stars which was my highlight of the day. Went inside the store and it was much smaller than I envisioned. Essentially just a long room.
Lots of cool stuff for sale. A few Picassos. Only a couple thousand. (2-3) we don’t know if that means they are prints or not?
If the exchange rate wasn’t so bad we would consider buying one if real haha.
We then walked to the a fair distance to the outlets stores and Will was dying by now and needed a drink. The sun was so hot.
Of course the outlets are outdoors and not a centre 🥵🥵
Found a vending machine. Didn’t specify prices an you had to pay before selecting.
Chose a sprite.
$6.50. Which is $10.50 AUD. Absolutely go get fucked.
We went to adidas and Nike. Bought a shirt at Adidas for $12.50 so still cheaper which crap exchange.
Went to Nike for a hat but terrible selection so went to a hat store and got ripped off. I do love it though and I need it cause the Vegas glare is insane. I’ll suck it up for this one haha .
Got a taxi back to hotel. Our driver was really chatty. Will complained about America to her a lot 😆
We got home and sussed what we wanted for dinner then headed over next door to the Bellagio for their fountain show which was actually really good. The water is choreographed to music. I dont know if the music changed but we had Billy Jean by Michael Jackson.
We then got subway and headed home.
Good day, actually did things. Czytaj więcej

I think Will got some sleep this morning. He is going to overdose on drugs soon though. Not great at waiting for the waiting before next drug.
We both slept til about 12 so that was fabulous. Didn’t want to move because didn’t want to wake him so I was awake for ages cause I was dying to pee.
Eventually got up and quietly went down to Starbucks downstairs and got him 2 croissants in case he got hungry while I was away because we originally had lunch plans with Casey and Shin.
We went to Sadelles Cafe in the Bellagio. Google maps does not like the casinos. It can’t figure out were I am and each casino is like a city but I eventually found it.
It had a pretty garden display in front of it. Vegas has got so many beautiful displays but all the photos are shit because there is like 1000 people in each pic.
They couldn’t find our reservation.
So Shin called someone and gave his phone to the worker who then spoke to someone else and suddenly “we’ll make room for you” and we were in.
I ordered the blueberry pancakes and they were excellent.
Best part was about 30 minutes into the meal the manager came over and apologized profusely for the mix up and all our meals became free 😂😂😂 yay for famous friends hahahaha
So ridiculous even though I benefited lol. Manager gave him his personal card too for next time.
Chit chat wasn’t as awkward as I was anticipating. No awkward pauses.
Actually had a really good time.
They have said they can get me and Will free tickets to a cirque show which I’d love but don’t know if he will recover in time 😔 lovely offer though.
Hate being female. Casey was fine but felt obligated to give a very awkward hug hello and goodbye to Shin. I feel so uncomfortable hugging one person and not the other so I probs made him uncomfortable by hugging him too but oh well.
Actually no, can definitely confirm i made him uncomfortable, his body language was stiff as a board.
Can I please just shake your hand like a man? 😭😭 there are no guessing games on how to greet people when a dude.
Casey has said if we stay in the audience at the show on the 20th they will both come out and say hello so I’ll probs see them in a few days.
Currently sitting in the bath cause Will still resting.
We hung out for a bit then I made a reservation at the Cheesecake Factory for us for dinner cause it was in Caesar’s and I didn’t think it would be too outrageous cause it’s a chain.
The casinos are so big 😩😩 it’s literally like 800m just to the Resturant and we still in the same building and only explored a little bit of it.
Neither of us particularly hungry so he got a burger and I got a salad. I got us mozzarella sticks too cause I know we both like them and both of us took a gamble on our meal.
My salad was odd but enjoyable.
It was apple, corn, blue cheese, tomato, avocado and lettuce.
Meal came to $60. And then it’s a 20% tip .. so $72 all up. Which converts to $115.
Sooo basically our entire days budget on one meal where we picked the cheapest option.
Good. Great. Excellent.
Dordled back cause Will was crashing again after the walk and cigarette smoke everywhere.
I had a quick shower then went to the lobby to collect Mary the tan lady.
I emailed her last night cause to finalize and she asked if my wife needed a tan so I explained I was the bride. She was still terribly confused and thought I was just a gay guy saying I’m the bride..
She sprayed me in the shower. Had to hold my arms up and do 3 rounds - arms were hurting by the end haha
Originally quoted $75 but I was conned into a $90 product. More expensive for a natural look, professional weightlifting orange was $70.
Fuck it.
Then THE TIP 😩 I hate this country. Goodbye to another $20 or $32AUD
Had to wait 3 hours and have now washed it off. We have past the time watching episodes of ridiculousness.
2am currently and stressed about Mum and dad. I hope dad checks emails cause it’s the the only way to contact us unless I turn my roaming on for a 3rd day but money tiiiiiight I don’t want to spend more money if I don’t have to. I’ve sent him and email and if he doesn’t respond I’ll turn it on around midday to see where they are. He is meant to ring Will on arrival but his chargers not working so his phone is dead.
So that means little sleep for me again.
Will is asleep though and that’s the main thing!! He actually got some good rest today, hopefully today he is feeling better!! Czytaj więcej

So.
Neither of us has slept.
And I am currently in the waiting room at the hospital.
It’s going well 😬😬😬
He is crook.
He has 4 full days to recover if we get his some drugs early. Hopefully it is something that can be treated with antibiotics and we aren’t about to spend a gazillion dollars for no reason and gives him hope rather than you just have to put up with it.
Sooo. We spent a gazillion dollars for no reason.
But in reality it could have been so much worse. Once I was allowed into the hospital room with him I got told they had taken a swab to check for strep throat. I asked how much as she said about $3500.
Holy balls.
Had a little cry in the corner.
Went down to $2400 once she did the proper maths.
Then it was such a big fuss of me trying to convert money onto our Travel card. I had to activate my roaming but still not a strong enough signal and it kept declining.
Found some Wi-Fi and got it done. Was worried because if I didn’t have USD preloaded on the card they take a lovely conversion fee.
Went back in and Maria R. Is the champion of the day charging us only $1200 which is still OUTRAGEOUS and next level HORRIFYING but I’ll take it. Bless you 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Converts to about $2000 because of our delightful exchange rate.
I hate this country.
I’d like to start enjoying our holiday please.
He got a prescription for ibuprofen.
Went back to the hotel and had to pack cause we had to check out. Not stressful at all..
Could have walked to Caesar’s but got a taxi because what’s another $10 when you have already spent a fortune.
We paid for an early check in but it still wasn’t ready so we went to McDonald’s and to fill his prescription.
Got his drugs and went to reception because I had a billing question. When we went to check in earlier a transaction was denied - so we fixed it.
They charge $50 a day resort fee and then $100 a day in case we trash the room so another $1100 spent today.
In conclusion, we have spent more today than I budgeted for all of America 😄
At least we do in theory get $700 back but not til 10-15 business days after check out.
Man.
The mood is lowwww.
We still need to go to the courthouse.
Hopefully tomorrow.
Just hung out in our room. Completely wasting our time but the point of Vegas is a wedding so I’ll suck it up because that’s way more important.
I’m currently back at Earl of Sandwich because we really enjoyed dinner last night. Will stayed in hotel.
It was about a 20 minute walk each way.
I tried on wedding dress earlier and have decided to not have it steamed.
Sleep pattern is fucked. Asleep at 8:30 awake at 12:30. Looked at this lamp in the dark for like the next 4 hours. Czytaj więcej

We got in. 😂😂🕺🏻🕺🏻
Had to clear customs but could do the questions together so that was good.
Then had to get our bags - all 3 arrived. Another huzzah moment.
Dropped them off - this was a tad unofficial so we’ll see if they turn up lol.
We then had to find our domestic terminal which was easy but tedious.
Had a quick wee stop and the toilet doors are ridiculous. Will could crawl under the door the gap is so big. A 2 year old could walk clean under.
Went through TSA crap again and had to take off shoes to Wills delight. He is crashing rapidly. Still has a sore throat and hasn’t slept properly in days.
Has the shits big time. Once we arrive he is being drugged and sent to bed.
LAX is shite.
Found our fancy lounge though - much more impressive than QANTAS’s. Better buffet and more drink options.
1 hour more til boarding.
Will is straight up stressing me out with his very loud moaning and groaning and coughing.
We have time to recover before wedding but we do not want him to have to take a Covid test and dun dun DUNNNNN fuck up everything.
Should have left the lounge earlier. Only in the main section for 10 minutes and had a terrific time.
Saw a dog poop on the floor and an embarrassed Mum pick it up - forgot dogs are allowed. Love it.
Best part was overhearing a phone conversation that started with “no, I don’t need a transfer to a hotel I’m not staying at because someone didn’t do their job” to “I’ll be contacting my lawyer and I’m going to sue you.”
Then he hung up.
It was amazing.
10/10 American show.
Boarded the plane and had a 5 word exchange with a British man (become relevant in a moment)
Domestic first class is as expected - premium economy.
Just a quick hour flight then we landed.
Immediately as you walk into the airport there are poker machines 😆
Went to get our bags. Wedding dress one arrived first - brilliant.
Then mine.
Then we noticed the same bag as Wills get picked up by a bloke, I did a sneaky look and it was his bag and not Wills so walked away and watched them collect their second bag (also the same black duffel)
Time passes and another black duffel appears, but it’s not ours.
😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬😬
Tag is for England.
Dude who took the same bag is British.
Unlikely to be a 3rd party with same bag.
💡💡 he has our bag. 😪
We raced around the airport looking for him but he was gone.
I checked the other bag for a number but there wasn’t one so I took it to the American Airlines baggage claim and said this guy took the wrong bag.
She was incredible. No messing around, straight on the phone and straight to the point with him. He said he took the right bag and she got all American blunt and was all “I wouldn’t be calling you if you did” the tude was hectic hahah.
She ain’t taking shit.
Anyways, he returned it and crisis averted. He apologized profusely.
Caught our taxi for $25 - we had $30 so I intended to give him a $5 tip but he gave Will back some $1’s and Will kept them all hahah yeww.
Check in like was so lonnnnng. We paid $25 for an early checkin cause Will is done.
He is currently sleeping - I went out and got us throat numbing spray and a wall changer.
We have awoken, he is still miserable 😔
I went out to get us food from the Earl of sandwich. Pretty good. Pleased with how our money card is working.
Currently 9pm. Total waste of a day but we need him to be better in time for the wedding. Wish we didn’t have to swap hotels in the morning 😓 Czytaj więcej

Transit

Unbelievably the day has finally arrived.
Our usual taxi driver Mr T. Dowse was unavailable so we got an Uber. Very efficient dude unlike the Pickering/Craig’s whose taxi driver was 45 minutes late. We were sitting in the business lounge just imagining the mood and Helen’s stress.
When we got to the airport and tried to check in the lady was like have you done your declaration and I was like ???? No. Cue stress. Couldn’t check in without it.
I said it’s not on smart travelers to do it and she said it is but I have re checked and no it’s not and my travel agent quit so possibly why the info wasn’t passed on. 😪😪
Anyways, quickly did it at the counter.
Lucky we were business with no one waiting behind us cause it took a while. The economy line would have been very annoyed at us. 😬
I’ve sent an email to dad cause I doubt they have done it but have probs stressed them out more than anything as I didn’t actually explain anything properly. 😅 my bad. I’ll do a better job once at the hotel.
My main worry is because Mum doesn’t have a smart phone and couldn’t have done a quick fix like we did. So must do beforehand. Hopefully their travel agent can help. Nothing major just has to be done.
Went VIP line through customs then into the lounge. Not as fancy as I’d imagined tbh. You could get your moneys worth with the self serve bar though.
Breakfast was a basic buffet and the chairs were more padded.
The crew finally arrived and we gave everyone hug, they had a very quick feed before they had to turn around and go to their gate.
Went to our gate, waited, boarded blah blah.
Now we Fannnccyyyy.
Everyone has their own little cube. So much leg space and I can sit cross legged in my chair which I looooove.
The food has been amazing even though not enough. Absolutely bloody starving but I’ve just raided the free snacks section and shamelessly walked back with about 6 different things- chocolate, chips, passion fruit shortbread, pretzels, almonds and celery/carrot with dip lol.
*insert dancing Winnie the Pooh gif with knife and fork dance*
Have slept a bit. Need my elbow room where my arms sit at 90° from my body which I can’t do but still so much better than economy plebs. Haha
I think Will fitted but is now sleeping upright. He is a little grumpy because he has a sore throat.
Mine is super dry too from the recycled air.
We both got the famous gray QANTAS pajamas so both quite happy about that. We weren’t sure cause it’s not a night flight.
Time is definitely going quicker than usual but I’m having so much anxiety it’s insane. I think not knowing about the digital declaration has triggered my paranoia that I have forgotten something else and they won’t let me in. I think it’s a way bigger deal than usual cause peoples lives are affected if we don’t get in. They coming just for us .. 😅
Also aware I don’t have Wi-Fi and don’t know Caesar’s address if I need to give it again or any info really.
I have a little battery in my bag.
I don’t have a medical certificate for the pill (never been and issue but have decided today it might be 🤦🏼♀️)
And we have to get our bags and re drop them once in LA which I’ve never done. At least I’ll know they haven’t lost my wedding dress lol.
Loosing the plot I tell you.
The entertainment options on board are horseshit.
Now I’m stressed because I haven’t heard from Craig (obviously because I’m on an airplane..) but that must mean Roberts dead.
Hate my brain.
Have been trying to get Wills attention to steal a buttermenthol off him but he is playing his snake game which is actually a great choice from him cause one round can take him like 2 hours. Great time killer lol.
I’m a big ol sour puss about the exchange rate. USD is strongest it’s been in 20 years 🙃
BUT am pleased we got cash out a few days ago at 59.8c because the airport rate was 52. Absolutely go get fucked.
Am currently wearing engagement ring for once in my life. Hate. So stressed trying to sleep it feels like it’s going to fall off my finger.
What a mood killer that would be 😊
2 hours 6 mins to go. We think we should get our breakfast soon. We put in our ORDERS before takeoff and they have to have time to give them out, clean up and land.
I’ve caught 1000 planes and been to 47 countries. I don’t know why I’m so bloody stressed. Far out. Czytaj więcej

Christmas 21

Feeling lucky today as an outrageous amount of people are in isolation this Christmas.
Going mental cause there just isn’t room in our house for everyone to be here a week but we have had a really wonderful day.
- Opened our secret Santa presents. Helen had both Will and I. Will got mainly golf stuff, I got a spacer bucket and a fountain for Robert.
- Will cooked pork belly burnt ends on the smoker and I made Buffalo wings.
- Jax hurt his toes and carried on for ages so Will great out the pliers to chop it off. 🤣
- we ate and did bon bons.
- everyone did shots. Even Jax but with water.
- we played card games. Auto correct and asshole cats. Bills laugh makes everything funnier.
- we had naps
- We watched 3 movies including the grinch and die hard.
- some tantrums here and there but overall, we had a lovely Christmas. ♥️ Czytaj więcej

Took him home he slept most of the way on my lap and woke up when we got to maccas. Meant to be our dog 🤣
I slept downstairs with him.
Small little Jellybean.
Welcome, Robert Jethro. 💕 Czytaj więcej

Great Barrier Reef

Very excited about today. Have wanted to this for a very long time. Primary school age i think. Lockdown is good because I would never chose to come if overseas was an option lol.
My hand has been forced and I’m glad.
We went with sun lovers for $200 each.
It took 2 hours to get there. Wet bumpy ride we’re pleased we took sea sickness tablets.
Once there, it was a sort of free for all.
We received our own gear and got into the water.
Fucking freezing 🤣🤣😭
But we pushed on.
The reef, as expected, was stunning. So many sensational fish. There was one that was rainbow - he was divine. So much coral.
I had brought a waterproof bag to put my phone into but I didn’t trust it so we hired a GoPro for the day just to be sure. I get to keep the memory card at the end of the day.
Saw 2 turtles, lots of HUGE fish that looked like they had buck teeth for lips and a baby squid.
I also wen ton the glass bottomed boat without Will and saw a massive clam, reef shark and some nemos.
We went swimming twice with a lunch break in the middle.
Currently sitting back on our boat ready to depart.
About 15 15-16 year old boys are sitting around us from a footy team amor something. All talking smack. Such a fun age. 🤣 Czytaj więcej
