      את היום השני בסינגפור התחלנו בסיבוב בlittle India והArab street. היינו חייבות קפה אז הלכנו לקפה שדקרנו עוד מראש מרשת בתי קפה מפורסמת בדובאי. אכן רמה גבוהה, מאוד מפונפן ומאוד טעים. וגם נהננו מחוויה טכנולוגית עתידנית בשירותים שמנקים את עצמם וכל מיני כאלה.
      המשכנו להסתובב הלכנו גם לעוד פוד סנטר ומשם נסענו ברכבת לגנים. קנינו כרטיסים ל3 פעילויות בגנים. הסתובבנו ובדרך לחממת פרחים ראינו גם את הגינה הסינית והגינה ההודית שבכל אחת מהם מסבירים על התרבות והצמחייה של האיזור, התיישבנו שם לרגע של משבר מהחום ועייפות מהליגות מרובות ברגל, הסתכלנו סביב ותהינו לעצמנו למה לעזאזל שיהיה בעיר 2 כיפות גיאודזיות ענקיות עשויות מזכוכית כאילו שזה דבר לגיטימי בנוף של העיר. וכמה שזה מטורף שהכל פה בניינים ענקיים וחדשים שבנויים כל כך יפה עם אדריכלות כזאת מיוחדת ומרשימה. כשהמשכנו ללכת הבנו שבמבנה של הכיפות הגיאודזיות בעצם יש את הגנים שאנחנו בדרך אליהם. נכנסנו לכיפה הראשונה-חממת פרחים וצמחים מרשימה ומגוונת ביותר עם צמחייה מכל חלקי העולם. הכיפה השנייה-הדמייה של יער גשם עם צמחייה שהביאו במיוחד מיערות גשם בדרום אמריקה ועוד מקומות. היה שם גם חלק של פעילויות לילדים כמו מוזיאון המדע בחיפה וכמובן שהלכתי לשם ונהניתי מאוד.
      משם כמובן הלכנו לגשר - מה שנקרא - טיילת השמיים. וצילמנו מלא תמונות של העצים הטכנולוגים האלה כי איך אפשר שלא.
      המשכנו למוזיאון המדע והאומנות שמבחוץ מעוצב כמו פרח לוטוס. אני מודה שהעיצוב החיצוני היה יותר מרשים ממה שקרה בפנים אבל היו שם פינות ציור כאלה עם דפי צביעה שאפשר לצבוע כל מיני ציורים מוכנים ואז לסרוק וזה מופיע על המסך אז העברנו שם לא מעט בזמן יצירה, ביחד עם כל המבוגרים סביבנו, כי לילדים של היום אין סבלנות לשבת ולצייר. גם היה שם כל מיני הסברים על סינגפור כעיר שבנויה בשילוב עם הטבע ואיך תכננו אותה ככה כעיר מודרנית, שהגנים בה פועלים על אנרגיה סולרית ומים ממוחזרים במזרקות…ועל זה שחשוב שהאדם יחיה לצד הטבע וישמור עליו…כל מיני כאלה. קצת הרגיש לי מצחיק ביחס לזה שכל המדינה ממוזגת ומשתמשת באין סוף של חשמל ואנרגיה, וגם שאין אף פינה בסינגפור שהיא באמת טבעית, ולא טבע שהוא התערבות של האדם או מעשי ידי אדם. כלומר שמישהו הניח שם את האבן הזאת או שתל שם את העץ הזה וכו וכו..
      כשיצאנו ירד גשם אז נאלצנו לשנות תכניות וחזרנו למתחם אוכל ומשם ליד ההוסטל במרחק כמה דקות הליכה יש מסעדה שקיבלה כוכב מישלן על אחת המנות עוף בסויה שלהם (מנה מאוד שבאופן כללי היא מאוד נפוצה במזרח). הם השאירו את המחיר הנמוך שהיה גם אחרי שקיבלו את הכוכב מישלן אז היינו כמובן חייבות ללכת לנסות ולטעום מנת כוכב מישלן ב12 שקל. רק אגיד ששל שברה על זה צמחונות וחבל שכך. באמת מאכזב מכל הבחינות, ציפיתי שזה לפחות יהיה רך ומתפרק כזה כמו העוף במרק של סבתא מירי אבל אפילו זה לא קרה.
      למרות זאת סיכמנו את היום כיום מוצלח במיוחד ופרשנו לישון כדי לשמור אנרגיות ליום האחרון שלנו בסינגפור.      Read more

      Skydiving (by Lewis & Andrew)

      Lewis: While in Singapore we went indoor skydiving in a wind tunnel. Before you go skydiving, you should know that there are fans below you. The fans have to push up enough air, approximately 120 mph, to counteract gravity and make you float. Before you go skydiving, you need to have some special gear. That special gear is goggles, a helmet, earplugs, and a full-body suit. To be able to fly, you need to be in a specific position on your belly, chin up, arms out, and legs on a slight upward angle. It was breathtakingly fun. If I could do anything, I'd go skydiving again.

      Andrew: We went to Singapore and went to an indoor skydiving place called Ifly. It was so fun. You get to go in a wind tunnel and you go dooooowwwwwwnnnnnn.... I’m just kidding you, you go up, not down. You just need to lie on your stomach and then you float. At the end, the guide asks you if you want to go to the top of the tunnel. If you do, you go with a guide and the people who run the skydiving tunnel turn the wind up a lot. This was the best Chanukah present - thanks so much Lewis!      Read more

      Singapur Gehoppe

      Das klassische Fortbewegungsmittel eines Touristen: ein Hop on Hop off Bus. Das habe ich mir gegönnt. Zwei verschiedene Routen gibts. Das hat mir sehr geholfen die Stadt zu verstehen. Das Wetter war auch gnädig und besser als angekündigt.
      Die Stadt fühlt sich gar nicht so groß an für die 5.5 mio Einwohner also auch Downtown und so. Die Bezeichnungen der Straßen und Stadtteile sind sehr verwirrend. An der Beachfront ist weit und breit kein Wasser. Die Straße z.B. in der ich wohne heißt beach road. Das ist sie aber schon lange nicht mehr, weil man durch Landgewinnung immer mehr ins Meer reinwächst. Die ganze Stadt baut sich eigentlich ständig um. Es gibt auch ziemlich viele Baustellen. Was will man machen, wenn man eigentlich seine Grenzen erreicht hat. Daher ist der Boden auch so teuer und es wird eben hoch gebaut.
      Aber soo hoch finde ichs gar nicht. Man sieht auch kleine Stadtvillen und so. Und es gibt die ursprünglichen Quartiere Chinatown, Indientown und noch ne Town für Malayen und Moslems und so- die ethnischen Gruppen,die hier eben so zusammengewachsen sind.
      Der Verkehr ist sehr entspannt, auch weil es ein Privileg ist hier Auto zu fahren - teuer und Anzahl reglementiert. Insgesamt ist das eine seeehr entspannte, moderne, wohlhabende Stadt die aber nicht so ins protzige fällt. Das Konzept Gartenstadt sieht man überall. Ich finds cool... wenn es nicht sooo teuer wär 🙈😂      Read more

      Singapur im Dunkeln

      ... präsentiert von Roger the Dodger, dem chinesischen Mario Barth, der aber nur Roger genannt werden will und nur auf Bussen anzutreffen ist. Hat er aber recht interessant gemacht irgendwie. Einiges hatte ich schon gesehen aber irgendwie schaut nachts immer alles ganz anders aus. Wir sind ein bisschen, durch die Stadt gegurkt und rechtzeitig zur Rhapsody Show im Gardens by the Bay angehalten. Eine Multimedia Show im großen Cluster mit 12 von den 18 Superbäumen. Schon cool gemacht. Im Hintergrund das Marina Bay Sands.
      Danach sind wir noch zu einer Art Nightmarket-Fressmeile mitten im Finanzdistrikt. Mit allem Möglichen was die Asiaten so essen. Die chinesischen Ekligkeiten hatten sie zum Glück nicht so.
      Fermentierte Schweinefüsse war so das Schlimmste was ich so gesehen hatte...geht also noch.
      Direkt daneben die Satè-street, wo massenhaft kleine Satè Spieße gegrillt wurden.

      Bien arrivés à Singapour : à la douane le formulaire d entrée fait par internet ne fonctionnait pas , à refaire sur place. Obligation de jeter cigarette electronique et liquides ( achat de cigarettes 🚬 très rapidement après 😪😪). Le car ne nous a pas attendu et nous a laissés à la frontière.... l hôtel en mode "capsules spatiales" est sympa, à tester !Read more

      A day in Singapore

      The day started with a stroll to Gardens by the Bay-an area covering over 101 hectares of garden. Their aim is to make Singapore a city in a garden. The Flower Dome (largest green house in the world) and Coud Forest contain a huge display of plants from around the world - particularly impressed with their succulents.
      Lunch back at Lau Pa Sat Hawker market - very busy. The place to go for all local workers. Hard to find a seat - with tables reserved with umbrellas, tissues, work passes while diners go and gather food. Tried the recommended chicken rice.
      Afternoon spent discovering Katong, in particular the Joo Chiat area, an area once filled with coconut plantations. Named after Chew Joo Chiat, it is known for its pre-war architecture, ornate facades, and ceramic tiles on housing and shops. Apparently, it is also one of the best foodie destinations (so we had to go!)

      Candlenut

      ***warning lengthy food post***
      Dined at the world’s first Michelin-starred Peranakan restaurant called Candlenut tonight. We chose the set menu 'Ah-ma-kase'.
      Ah-ma-kase is a play on the Japanese word omakase...meaning I'll leave it up to you ( full trust left in chefs hands) Ahma means “grandmother” and it refers to Chef Lee’s tasting menu of modern Peranakan dishes served family-style "using grandmas recipes" according to our waiter... he wrnt on to say ah-ma-kase translates to Grandma's love. With that sentiment in mind and a glass of Riesling in hand our dinner began.
      Entrees were bite sized (I tried to make them last and had two bites).
      Kueh Pie Tee was a great start...lobster, tumeric curry with candlenut (a nut not unlike macadamia). Deep fried carrot cake (no carrot, actually white radish) with a poisonous nut buah kelauk (cooked for several days and washed before able to use). The 3rd entree, my favourite Kueh Bakar Berlauk - wagyu beef rendang...in a little pancake, need I say more!!! The chicken stay was the final entree...with the best peanut sauce I have ever had.
      Mains: Started with a soup; Soto Basko. The broth was exquisite, apparently cooked for over 4 hours. Pork meatball, tumeric fish, and noodles just elevated the broth to new heights. What followed was corn salad and four curry like dishes. Yeye's Curry with Crab, Babi Assam (slow cooked pork cheek). Next came my favourite barramundi cooked in nyonah rempah, okra, starfruit, tomatoes and laksa leaf. An absolute standout! A king prawn with Nana's lemak broth, pineapple and laksa leaf ended mains.
      Dessert consiated of 3 palate cleansing delights; coconut sorbet, tapioca cake with grated coconut and my favourite dessert Pulut Inti, a fragrant glutinous rice cake with Gulargambone melaka which had a golden syrup flavour. Dessert was paired beautifully with a sparkling saki which seemed made to be had with the Ubu Kelapa (coconut sorbet dish).

      After a late 12.30 am check in, and a few hours sleep, we hit the streets and checked out the botanic gardens, did a Singapore river cruise, Marina Bay Sands and Skywalk at Gardens by the Bay.

      The Formula One Grand Prix is on here this weekend, so much hype and excitement around town. A lot of Lambos, Ferraris, McClarens etc driving around...we could have had a drive of one for about $480!!

      It's a pity that the city is covered in a smoke haze from fires in Indonesia, so photos didn't do it any justice.      Read more

      Tag in Singapur

      Unser Tag begann mit einem tollen Frühstück, für Martha gab es eine Pancake-Maschine und ganz viele andere Leckereien. Auch hier war der Ausblick wieder super.
      Nach dem Frühstück wollten wir uns auf den Weg ins indische Viertel machen, doch das Shopping-Center war zu verlockend und wir sind ersteinmal abgebogen und haben uns in den Weiten des Raumes fast verloren🤪nach der 20. Rolltreppe wussten wir nicht mehr wo wir waren.
      Als wir dann endlich einen der Ausgänge gefunden hatten regnete es wie aus Eimern und wir beschlossen noch etwas zu Essen. Wir fanden ein Restaurant in dem man sich seine Speisen direkt am Tisch selber braten könnte. Das war echt witzig und hat sehr gut geschmeckt.

      Da es nach dem Essen leider schon wieder regnete, fuhren wir mit der MRT Bahn ins Centrum. Wir wollten ja die Super-Trees sehen.
      Die Bahnhöfe und auch die U-Bahn waren super sauber. Alles lief sehr geordnet und entspannt ab. Da hat Berlin eindeutig Nachholbedarf.

      Marina Bay angekommen haben wir uns den wirklich schönen Park "Garden by the Bay" angesehen und sind auch in die zwei großen Hallen gegangen. Obwohl es dort recht voll war und wir zeitweise von großen indischen Reisegruppe eingekesselt waren, hat es und gut gefallen. Aber unser Highlight war dann am Abend die Lichtshow der "Leucht-Bäume"
      Das war wirklich sehr schön!

      Den Heimweg traten wir dann zu Fuß an.
      So haben wir noch etwas vom Nachtleben mitbekommen, bevor wir dann wirklich sehr erschöpft gegen 01:00 Uhr ins Bett fielen.      Read more
