Here we go again 💉🚗🏖 😅

    1. februar, Australia ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

This has been a pretty basic day 🤷🏼‍♀️
After leaving my cozy capsule right in time to avoid a parking ticket 😮‍💨, I did some grocery shopping to have food for the day 😅🍎🥒🥕🥕🥑🥖🧋
Afterwards I started my walk through Hobart in order to find a tattooing studio that would make a tattoo right away, as I didn't want to loose much time haha 😂 yeps, got another one...oopsi 🤭
I've alredy had the motif in my head for almost a year now, so it wasn't that spontanous, even though the point of time was. 😇 I knew I wanted to get it in Tassie and thought that I'd just do it on my last day here - but then realized that this was a sunday, so no studio would be open 🙆🏼‍♀️ and as there are a couple of tattoo artists in Hobart, I decided to just try a walk in - and was successful at the third attempt ☻️ (guess all things come in 3s 🙃)
The tattooer was really nice, took his time and did a great job I'd say - it took only 3 mins to do it anyways haha 😅 I'm suuuper happy with it 😍😍

Then I started my drive to Wineglass bay, which took a bit longer than expected. 🚙🙄 So when I finally got there I decided to shift it to tomorrow and head to my accomodation right away and spend a relaxing afternoon there instead of hustling through the trails and getting to the hostel late. 🙈
Took 2 hitchhikers with me for a part of the way - guess that should add some points to my karma 😄
And I still have to do some research on how to continue my travels anyways😬
There are just too many options:
🤔 extend my stay in Tassie?
    🤔 go to New Zealand?
🤔 stick to the plan and do Australias east coast?
🤔 go to Australia and do something totally different (maybe Melbourne to Adelaide?!)

-> What would you say?? Open for recommendations! 😉

Experiencing history at Port Arthur 🏛

    31. januar, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Got up early this morning as I had to bring my car to the rental agency in Hobart, because it made weird, squeezy noises since a couple of days. Yep, looks like me & car issues seem to be a thing once again 😂💩
After I got another car, I made my way down to Port Arthur, which is a former convict site. 😬
It consits of 11 penal sites that were built during the 18th and 19th century and served as penal colony from 1833 to 1877. During that time, criminals that were considered to be most dangerous were sent there.
It was one of the first prisons, where inmates were not only punished physically but also psychologically. They were for example not allowed to speak (exept when directly adressed by a guard), look at each other or touch each other.
It was considered as one of the most safe prisons at this time, since the colony was located at a peninsula and the only street connecting it to the mainland was heavily guarded. 😶
It was super interesting to walk through the ruins and read the storys of inmates and officials working on site. Fun fact: one prisoner tried to escape dressed up as a kangaroo. 🦘 his diguise was so good, that the guards wanted to shoot the "kangaroo" in order to have it for dinner 😂 that's when the convict gave up and showed himself. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Afterwards I went for an extended walk at Pirates bay, with stunning views at the cliffs 🤩🤩
Had to change hostels tonight and am now at a capsule hostel 😅 very different...but really nice somehow 😆

Found paradise on Bruny Island 🤩💚

    30. januar, Australia ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

I slept in a little too long as I didn't have much expectations for Bruny Island. To be honest I thought it's probably just gonna be an island close to Tassie that's basically the same as the main island 🤷🏼‍♀️ just looked up some spots to go to yesterday and made my way to the ferry in the late morning 😇
But then...gosh, how wrong I was!! The island captured my heart right from the start. 🥰 can't really say why, but it just did. The combination of wood and beaches was just stunning 😍 reminded me a bit of Kauai...and I guess most of you know how much of a fan I am of that place! 💕
First I got to the Lighthouse at the southern point of Bruny...a really nice place with pittoresque views! 🖼
And the beach nearby...just insanely beautiful!! Didn't know that it's not going to be the only one I'll come by today at that point 😅
Afterwards I went to a trail that I looked up. There was a short and a longer version...the short one was stated to take 2.5h, so I decided to do that one as it was already early afternoon. And because I wanted to do another trail too, I made a hike-run out of it 🤭 wanted to go for a run today anyways, so why not take the chance - it's by far tje best way to explore nature anyways 😊 And if you want to see as much as possible in little time, you just have to go faster 😅🙆🏼‍♀️
It took me 30 mins to complete 2/3 of the loop, so I took a turn and also did some parts of the bigger one too 😆 and it so paid off!! Got to see great beaches and cliffs 😍😍
Got back to the car after 2h in order to drive to Adventure beach to get on the next trail 😂
And oh wow, that one didn't dissapoint as well! Another amazingly beautiful beach, stunning cliffs, a nice technical downhill...and another snake encounter!! 🐍 which is especially funny as I had a dream about it last night 🙈
Got back with one of the last ferries...but that was such a gorgeous place!! Super nice trails, great beaches and wonderful national parks - what else can you ask for?! ❤❤

Ps: for those of you thinking my hamstring/booty issue is fine again...nope - just ignoring the pain as much as I can and pushing it to the limit haha. No time for rest if there's just so much to see 😆😬

    Crossing Tassie 🚙💨

    29. januar, Australia ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

Took my time this morning as thete was nothing really planned except for going down from Deloraine to Tassie's capital Hobart.🗺
Since I decided to go for the more scenic route rather than the fastest one, it took me around 5h all in all to get there - did a lot of Foto stops on the way to be fair 📷
I drove via the central Plateau, which was covered in fog once again, before I then passed several really beautiful lakes 🤩
In Hobart I went on Mount Wellington before checking in at the hostel.
This time I drove up to the top, as it was already too late to do the hike and I saw the clouds coming in....so I had to be fast 😆

    Hiking Cradle Mountain...almost 😬🏔

    28. januar, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Today I jumped into the car at 6 am, as I had a 2.5h drive ahead in order to get to the Cradle mountain visitor center. 🚗 yes, i know...early start again 😅🕕
The sun rises pretty early in Tasmania (around 6ish), so the whole trip was during daylight - thankfully, as driving by night is not really recommended due to wildlife. 🦘🦔
I started in bright sunshine, but the closer I got to Cradle mountain, the more misty and cloudy it got. 🙈
And phew...it was coooold when I got out of the car 🥶
Nevertheless, you know there's no bad weather but only bad clothing...so I put on 4 layers (finally I know why I brought 3 longsleeves and a rain jacket!) and started walking. 🚶🏼‍♀️and what shall I do....the mountains are calling and I must go 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭
I don't really mind rough conditions when doing sports outdoors, and actually kind of enjoyed the rain and the chilly air (yeah, you can call me a weirdo 😅). The wind was a bit annoying, since it was really cold and stormy most of the time, but I really wanted to go to the summit, and what doesn't killy you only makes you stronger, right?! 😉
I knew there were only 2 things that could stop me from doing it:
    * a sudden change in weather or a snowstorm 🌨 which can happen within minutes at Cradle mountain, even in summer
    * snakes 🐍 especially as a nice Lady on the shuttle told me that the one I saw at the Gorge was pretty venomous 😳
So I kept on going and made the turn to the summit when I got to the repective junction 🔝 after nearly 2 hours.
Being already soaked, I walked on for several minutes but then decided to turn back down, as it was getting even more foggy and stormy up there 😕 pretty annoying and disappointing, as I'm not someone who's giving up easily...especially when it comes to sports 😖 but I've been walking alone, without service and didn't want to risk anything...but still 😑😫
So after a while I got a little cold, and what's the only thing that makes you warm up again?🤔 Right, moving faster 😆🤭 thus I turned my hike into a little trailrun, which was so much fun!! 🤩🤩 reminded me on how much I love doing this sports and being out on the trails 🥰🥰🥰
Once I got down I surrounded Dove Lake 🏞, before I finished my track for the day - ended up being 18km & 950m of altitude...thus not too bad ☺️
Afterwards I just drove to Deloraine, a cute little village I'm staying at for a night.

    Windy excursion 🌪🏔🌬🏖

    27. januar, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

My first way today was to the famous Harvest market in Launceston, which takes place pnly saturdays and even is a UNESCO heritage. 👩🏼‍🌾👨🏽‍🌾
Besides local fruit (especially cherries 🍒), herbs and vegtables one can also find local pastry, honey, olive oil and food stands. 🍇🍐🥦🥕🥐🍯🥟🍔☕️
It was a really lovely market, especially when a live band started to play as well. 🎶🎙
After about an hour there I made my way to the Ben Lomond national park, as I wanted to hike up to the summit of Mt. Ben Lomond, which is around 1,500m high. 🏔
In winter locals can go skiing up there and in summer it's supposed to be a nice hiking spot. 🎿🥾
On my way up (you have to drive up rather high) I already realizid, that I did not bring the right clothes...it was sooo windy and freeeezing up there 🌪🌪🥶🥶 so I decided to just stop at Jacob's ladder and then drive back down...even more as the summit was completely foggy anyways 🌫😶‍🌫️
I then drove to Bridgeport, a nice village on the northshore of the island and went for a little walk there 😊
It was for sure warmer than on Ben Lomond, but I couldn't escape the wind today haha 🙈 it was so strong there, that I constantly had to hold my sunglasses on my nose, cause otherwise they would have been blown away 🤓 and no, taking them off was not an option, as I would have had all the sand blown in my eyes then 😅
From Bridgeport I headed back to Launceston, where I spent a nice evening 😊

Aussie national day in Tassie 🥰

    26. januar, Australia ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

First of all - happy Australian national day! 🇦🇺🥳
Once again the alarm clock went off veeery early...see picture 😬
So I got ready, walked to the airport (so glad the hostel was just a 10 mins walk from there) and dropped off the backpack.
The plane took off punctually at 6 am and almost 3 hours later i safely landed in Tasmania 🤩🥳 so excitedto be here!
When picking up my rental car, one of the agents said it's a must to go to the Cateract Gorge when staying in Launceston, so I did right away. 😉
Driving there was a bit thrilling, since it's the first time for me to drive on the left side 🚙↔️ but I got used to it quiet fast 🙏
The place was really nice, since it's not only the Gorge itself, but also a national park around. 🏞
Even thought it's been rather crowded at the beginning - probably because it was a holiday and there's also a pool and a basin to swim in - I kept on walking paths for around 4 hours and probably met only 10 other people. 🤠
Soooo enjoyed the hiking...being just with myself, listening to the Wind and the sounds of the wood and oh, this smell of pines...love it! 😍
But I also had other encounters...with 2 wild kangaroos 🦘🦘 and 2 snakes 🐍🐍. For those who know how easily I get scared...you can imagine my reaction when I saw the snakes in the corner of my eye right next to the path 😱
After this adventurous walk I drove to the hotel, did some grocery shopping & enjoyed my dinner in a nearby park. 😊🥕🥑🥪

    Brisbane🏙 -> Gold Coast 🏖

    25. januar, Australia ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

After going for a run along the Brisbane river 🏃🏼‍♀️and packing my backpack once again 🎒, I had breakfast with the girls and did some organizational stuff 📑.
Got on the 🚅 at around noon to make my way down to the Gold Coast 😎, where I'll be flying out from tomorrow morning.
The journey took longer than expected (once again 🙄), due to massive traffic jam at Gold coast (had to change to a 🚌 here).
However, once here I quickly did the check in at the YHA and then went for a long and very nice and relaxing beach walk 🥰
It's actually the first time since I've started my travels that I'm at the ocean 😮 and the first time ever, that the sand made this funny noise when walking on it haha (see video 😅)
Got some food in the nearby village of Coolangatta and then went back to the hostel during sunset and admired the fullmoon, as I still had to find & book a rental car for my time in Tasmania 😆
So not a very extraordinary day...but still a nice one 😊

    Exploring Brisbane 🦘🐨

    24. januar, Australia ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Started the day with a yoga class provided by the hostel. 🧘🏼‍♀️ was a really nice way of waking up 😆
Afterwards I had breakfast with girls from the hostel and we decided to go to the koala sanctuary in town - which actually turned out to be more of a zoo...but it was still time well spent 😊
We got to see a lot of Koalas, were able to feed kangaroos and had some encounter with parrots 😅
In the evening I did some research on how to continue my travels in Australia, as a cyclone is about to hit the eastcoast, where I wanted to go up the next few days and weeks. ⛈️🌬😬
Thus I shifted everything and decided to go to Tasmania now and do Australia later on 😆
After having sorted out all the needed accomodations & flights Carly, Ceci and I took part in the pub quiz of the hostel, where we got 2nd 🙌🏽🥈
To celebrate that, Carly and I crewed up.with some people from the hostel and ended up in a bar nearby💃🏼🥳

Made it to Down Under 🙌🏽

    23. januar, Australia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

After around 25h of travelling I finally arrived in Brisbane! 🥳
Everything went quiet well, even the visa on arrival which I had to get for my overlay in Indonesia went smooth and I was perfectly in time for my flights to and within Australia.
At check-in (yeah, had to check out & back in in Bali 🙄) I was told that I would have to do the same in Melbourne, because my connecting flight was domestic and thus I had to enter customs at the first stop in Aussie. Looks like they recently changed that, as not even locals knew they had to do it. 😬 that made my schedule pretty tight, but I can be fast if I want to, so no need to worry I thought 😉
Also, I was seated next to 2 really nice girls, plane started taxiing in time, so all seemed well. Until...we stopped and the captain said that we're back at the boarding gate as one passenger needs to be removed from the plane 🤣
All in all it took 1 hour until the passenger had left, his bags were taken off the plane, every bag 5 rows before & behind his seat has been identified and we got a new starting permit 😬🙈 at that point I knew there's no way I'm gonna make it to my connecting flight - just like around 30% of that plane haha, so at least I wasn't the only one 🙆🏼‍♀️
Finally made it to Brisbane almost 4 hours later than planned. 🙈

It feels kind of weird to be back in a western culture...and to the prices here - a coffee is now around 5$ instead of 1,5$ 😬💸 butbat least there's nice bathrooms everywhere again 🚽😆

I spent the afternoon walking around a bit, exploring the area around the hostel and ended up at a really nice park nearby 🦎🌴🌳🌺
In the evening there was a nice get together ans a common dinner at the hostel, where I met super nice people and got inspirations and suggestions for the trip 🥰
