      Morgens um 5 Uhr ging es mit dem Zug zurück Richtung Delhi.
      Im Hotel angekommen hiess es alles packen und wir entschieden uns der Mittagshitze mit einem Schläfchen entgegenzuwirken.
      Letztes Dinner in Indien, tschüss sagen zu unseren neuen Freunden und den Abend auf der Dachtersasse ausklingen lassen.Leggi altro

      In der Altstadt von DELHI

      Den Nachmittag verbringen wir in den Gassen der Altstadt. Unser Reisebus muss sich durch die total verstopften Straßen jonglieren, wir finden aber eine Parkgelegenheit vor einer Feuerwehrausfahrt.
      Die Aufnahmen brauchen mal wieder keine weiteren Erklärungen..
      Gleich zu beginnt der Rückfahrt verfängt sich der Bus 🚌 noch in einer Oberleitung. Wir sitzen erschöpft im klimatisierten Raum und lassen unserer indischen Begleiter kämpfen...      Leggi altro

      DELHI empfängt uns mit gemäßigtem Klima, fast wie zuvor in Hannover. Der Monsun soll sich für 2 Wochen zurück gezogen haben, allerdings klettert das Thermometer im Laufe des Tages in Richtung 40.
      Ausgerechnet der amerikanische Präsident durchkreuzt unseren Reiseplan: Ab den 07.09. besucht Joe B. den G20 Gipfel und an unserem Abreisetag herrscht höchste Sicherheitsstufe! Alle öffentlichen Einrichtungen haben geschlossen, es wird mal wieder spannend...
      Mit unserem Reisebus geht es nach dem Frühstück direkt zum höchsten (73m) Minarett der islamischen Welt. Das gesamte Areal mit der QUWWAT-UL-ISLAM-MOSCHEE ist heute am Sonnabend von Schülergruppen geflutet. In Indien gibt es eine 6-Tage Schulwoche, wobei der Sonnabend auch für Ausflüge genutzt wird. Ausgelassen, aber doch diszipliniert, winken uns die uniformierten Mädchen und Jungen entgegen, oft kommt es zu lustigen Fotoshootings...
      Entlang der monumentalen Residenz des indischen Staatspräsidenten bringt uns der Bus auch zur Gedenkstätte RAJ GHAT, hier wurde der Leichnam von Mahatma Gandhis verbrannt und die Asche nach hinduistischen Brauch in den GANGE verbracht. Wir verbrennen uns heute nur die Fußsohlen, denn die Gedenkstätte muß barfuß besucht werden.      Leggi altro

      Bhagalpur for the night- whew what a day

      The traffic in Bhagalpur this evening was crazy, and Eric handled it like a champ. What a relief it was to pull up to the hotel we picked off of Google maps and be greeted by the owner holding open the door. And we were expecting to pay 4500-5000 rupees, but he bargained us DOWN to 3500 for a lovely suite room!! Let’s call that $43. Crazy!

      I was wrong yesterday about the states that we would travel through. Today we passed through the state of Jharkhand (where the protest was) and now we are in the state of Bihar (a dry state!). Tomorrow we will travel back into West Bengal as we aim for Darjeeling probably on Friday. Darjeeling is at ~6700 feet! Looking forward to relief from the heat!

      It was SO hot once again today, and the humidity is much lower inland. Our phones are just hammered by the heat. It’s nearly impossible to charge them back up when they are so hot, and we don’t have a cooler to cool them off. But I figured out a trick of wrapping them in a wet bandana to get an evaporative cooling effect. In no time one would cool down and charge up quickly. Hurray!

      Speaking of phones - I am using an eSIM from Airalo on my phone with a data plan for India that I can easily top up as needed. I set it up before we left home. 10GB/30days for $27. I just ran out today and topped it off with another 10GB. The only catch is it doesn’t warn you when you are running low, it just stops connecting to the internet. Eric bought a reconditioned older iPhone and purchased a physical SIM card with a good data plan for $7 for 30 days. He did this in Fort Cochi after we got here. $7?!! It’s been handy to have that Indian phone/number.      Leggi altro

      Protest blocking the road! Kindness wins

      Oh my gosh! We came to an area where trucks were stopped dead for a full kilometer leading up to an interchange where we needed to go under a highway and then get onto it. We were able to drive on the wrong side to get up to the interchange. After a few minutes the bus we were behind started slowly moving forward so we stuck to it. Meanwhile we were starting to chat a bit with all the guys hanging around. The bus was was let through and then large bamboo poles were pulled across the road to block the road after it!! A car next to us drove into/over the bamboo, and luckily our new-found friends told them to let us pass also.

      On the other side of the roadblock trucks were backed up for at least a kilometer again. We thought we were good to go on a highway with no traffic, but then we came upon ANOTHER road block on the highway at the town of Barapalasi. We got off onto the side frontage road but it was blocked too, and a man told us we can’t go through until 6pm. Luckily we chatted and negotiated selfies in exchange for letting us through! Hahaha! Plus I explained that we can’t wait until 6 because we have to drive when the sun is up. The young son of one of the leaders spoke very good English, so he was a great help. They gave us ice cream cones, I gave them a sticker, we took a million selfies, and we stuffed the two leaders of this protest plus a few little boys into Spicy with us and we were accompanied through the barrier and on our way.       Unplanned Breakie/Spicy rest in Panuria

      The only running issues that we’ve had with Spicy (knock wood) is what seems like a vapor lock/air bubble in the fuel line situation every once in a while in the heat of the day. After a short slow down or a bit of a rest to cool down she is good to go.

      Today we experienced it earlier than normal, and luckily it happened on a country road where we could wait in the shade. I’ll tell you why I’m not worried about being stuck for long if we have a breakdown - we stand out like a sore thumb and it doesn’t take long at all before someone turns around and comes back to check us out.

      In this case a taxi driver came back, lined up his tuk tuk behind ours and drove pushing us with his foot!! He pushed us 1km to a petrol station, but we explained that we had half a tank still, so he pushed us another 1km to the town where there was a mechanic. We were told that the mechanic would come to us in 10 minutes, and luckily we were stopped in front of a little bakery where we had samosas and a sweet baked good for breakfast. Our chai tea came in a tiny unglazed clay cup with a volume of maybe 2-3 tablespoons, and they throw out the cups when you are done!

      When the mechanic finally arrived, of course Spicy started right up and ran like a champ. We wanted to make sure it wasn’t a fuel filter issue, but by the time we did a short test drive and came back, the mechanic was gone again. Oh well!

      As we headed out of town there were a couple of police at a busy traffic bottleneck, and we’d just read that if police want you to stop, it’s easier to pretend you didn’t hear and keep going than go through potential hassles. The police officer pulled aside a gate so we could drive through, but then a second and apparently higher ranking officer said “Stop! Stop!” and motioned us to pull over. We felt pretty obligated at that point, so we stopped. Lucky for us he was just super curious about where we were from and where we are going! I gave him one of our stickers, and he gave us his phone number and said to call him if we have any troubles!! How lucky are we?!      Leggi altro

      Lotus Bahai Temple

      Vandaag naar de lotus tempel gegaan! De tempel is een plek voor iedereen, ongeacht je geloof, om te komen bidden/mediteren. Om hier binnen te mogen moet je je schoenen uit doen. Je mag er binnen niet praten en geen fotos maken. Gelukkig staan er fotos op wikipedia!

      Daarna ben ik (voor het eerst) in een riksja gestapt en naar een shopping mall gegaan. Vervolgens met de metro terug, wat een ervaring is dat!✌🏻 Proppen tot de deuren dicht gaan      Leggi altro

      Dieser Tempel ist eine andere Hausnummer an Größe - sieben Mauern mit Straßen und Platz dazwischen umschließen die goldene Kuppel, ab der dritten Mauer haben nur Hindus Zutritt.
      Betreten kann die Anlage von allen Himmelsrichtungen aus, die Tore und die durch die inneren Mauern sind durch große Tempel gekennzeichnet - unterschiedlich groß mit unterschiedlich vielen kleinen Kuppeln. Drei stehen für Ohren, Nase, Mund; 5 für zusätzlich die beiden Augen; 7 für zusätzlich den Punkt zwischen den Augenbrauen, wo man oft den rot aufgemalten Punkt sieht, und den eine Handspanne weiter am Hinterkopf sich befindenden Punkt am Haupt; 9 für die Chakren oder die Anzahl der Fingerspannen die von Kopf bis Fuß die Höhe jedes Menschen bezeichnen sollen; 12 für zusätzlich zu den 7 der Bauchnabel sowie die beiden Ausgänge für das Verdaute und 13 für die Frau und ihr Baby.
      Die Tempel sind alle bunt bemalt und alle 21 werden alle 12 Jahre für 10 Monate neu bemalt.
      Ein einziger ist komplett weiß, er erinnert an die Ermordung vieler Hindus durch die Moslems.
      Die verschiedenen Stöcke haben alle die gleiche Anordnung an Ornamenten, die nach oben hin immer kleiner werden. Jeden Stock ziehrt die Maske des Ivyley der das Zuhause beschützt.
      Die Mauern beherbergen viele kleinere Gedenkstätten und sehr viele Säulen mit Abbildungen der Götter, die je nachdem von wem man Hilfe erbittet immer wieder einmal mit Butter oder Sesamöl zur Reinigung eingeschmiert werden.
      Auch hier wohnen zwei Elefanten, die abwechselnd "Dienst" haben. In den Tempel kommen sie mit 6 oder 7 Jahren. Dazu muss entweder ein Priester oder der Stifter des Tempels nach Kerala an die Weltkarte fahren, dort einen kaufen und die Berechtigung einholen mit ihm aus Kerala auszureisen.
      Hin und wieder sieht man auch Privatpersonen mit ihren Elefanten in der Straße die Menschen gegen Geld zu segnen, diese kann man dann auch für Hochzeiten etc mieten.

      Auf den letzten beiden Bildern sieht man ersten zwei Tiere und wie viele Affen findet ihr am zweiten??😁      Leggi altro

      פרידות גדולות של יום אחרי.
      איילת דן ועלמה יורדים למנאלי.
      את דן ועלמה נראה רק בארץ באיזה מן יום שיגיע
      ומאיילת זו פרידה למי יודע כמה.
      אחרי חמישה חודשים של שותפות מדהימה, עוזבת לפורטוגל ישראל ודנמרק לתקופה של 8 חודשים.
      פרידה כזו לא מפילה ישר את האסימון שכן מעולם לא היינו בנפרד למשך תקופה ככ ארוכה.
      כולנו מתרגשים מאוד ובטוחים שלפנינו תקופה מדהימה של הגשמת חלומות ותשוקות גדולות.

      הקפצנו אבנים, אכלנו בבופה טאלי, קלפים וסרט הודי.
      שמי הלילה היו היפים ביותר שנתקלתי בהם בטיול ויואב שעבר קורס אסטרונומיה בדובה הגדולה הרחיב לנו את הידע בקבוצות וסיפורים.
      קמנו לראות זריחה, חזרנו לישון והקצנו לארוחת בוקר, טבילה באגם ספרים והקפצות אבנים.
      נסיעת צהריים חזרה ללה וארוחת ערב עם נועם וענבל שבדיוק הגיעו ממנאלי
      מחר גילי ממשיך לקורס מורי יוגה ברישיקש, ובעזרת שיווה עוד נתראה במזרח הרחוק
      שיהיה לכולם לילה טוב וחלומות על פרידות ארוכות שנגמרות מהר

      על ימי ההסתלבטות והמנוחה שלנו בלה
      • עומר ואני קנינו כרטיסים לסרילנקה ב9.7!! שוב תחושת החופש האינסופית שבאפשרות לעבור מדינה בכזו פשטות והתרגשות מעולם חדש שעומד להתגלות.
      סלט עדשים ומנגו בבודהי טראס בנוהל.
      הפקנו מסיבת צהריים מושקעת וקטלנית כדי למצוא לנו כיף בתוך יום שנדמה היה כי לא יקרה בו כלום.
      אלכוהול דרך חור בקיר וטור צפוף ודוחף של הודים, מחירי רצפה.
      ערבובי קוקטיילים מוכנים בבקבוקים אישיים, קרקרים וגבינת אמול מפחית שימורים, ריבת הומייד ממשמשים.
      האתגר - קרח
      מסעדה אחרי קפה אנחנו מקבצים קוביות בתוך שקית ובקבוק מים קפוא.
      הכל משתלם ונרגע ברגע שכולם מתיישבים בחצר ההוסטל הירוקה שלנו, עם מוזיקה טובה ושמחה.
      *השלכות - עומר הופך לזומבי ונרדם גם בזמן הסרט ההודי שהתחלנו בנטפליקס ('RRR' הזיהה)
      וגם במסעדה למשך כל ארוחת הערב.

      שיהיה לכולם לילה טוב וחלומות על יום שכולו צהריים
