    Start Bangkok πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­

    The journey has begun and started in BangkokπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­. We met Anna (from GermanyπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ) at the airport and shared the taxi with her. So we ended up on the Kho San Road and experienced our first tuk-tuk ride. We found a cheap accommodation for 350 baht (9,55€) per night for a private room with air conditioning and bathroom. We also got to know Philipp (also from Germany) and Tom (from London). Together we spent three unforgettable days in Bangkok. We went to the night market, ate our first Thai food, drank our first fruit shakes πŸ₯­πŸ and ate an incredible number of Rotis with banana 🍌 and Nutella. It's really crazy to see what's going on in Bangkok. During the day we had the feeling as if we were alone in the city and at night it was difficult to get ahead because it was so crowded.     Next Stop Koh Samui🏝

    We took the plane ✈️ from Bangkok to Koh Samui. We are really happy that we arrived safely because the plane made very strange noises 😳 from the beginning and the airport on Koh Samui is extremely small, smaller than in Bremen (where we come from) and we thought that was the smallest airport. πŸ˜…

    From the airport we took a taxi πŸš• to Chaweng and walked around with our backpacks in the midday heat to look for accommodation. β˜€οΈ After one night we changed accommodation because we found a better one in Fishermans Village. We had the hotel to ourselves for days as there were no other visitors. There was also a pool which we used properly. 😍

    We found a great stand where you could get the very best fruit shakes πŸ₯­πŸ and rotis. It was so delicious that we drove there for 15 minutes every day. ☺️ The power lines in Thailand are sometimes extremely loud and just hang down everywhere, we haven't seen that before. πŸ˜‚

    We rented a scooter πŸ›΅ for the first time and explored the island🏝 We also went to many night markets and ate delicious food🌽

    Koh Samui🏝

    We accidentally found out that Thailand uses a different calendar and here it is already 2565 instead of 2022. That's pretty crazy😳. Thailand is 543 years ahead It is calculated from year 1 after the year of Gautama Buddha's death, which in Southeast Asia is often given as 544 BC. The year 1 after Buddha is therefore the year 543 according to our calendar, which follows the Gregorian calendar. πŸ“ŒπŸ—“

    It's really incredibly fun to ride a scooter πŸ›΅ and explore the island🏝. We have been to many beaches, viewpoints, waterfalls and the Big Buddha Temple. The Big Buddha is really incredibly huge and you only really realize it when you stand right in front of him. 😲

    The difference between Bangkok and the big crowded city of Koh Samui can be clearly felt. There is much less traffic and far fewer people here. But we like the island life very much. 🏝😍

    We saw the sun β˜€οΈ for the first time in Thailand. The time in Bangkok was very gray and rainy. 🌧But it also rains here from time to time and of course exactly when we have to go down a very steep mountain from the viewpoint. πŸ˜… We took shelter at a restaurant and waited.
    We were concerned about sliding down the mountain with the scooter because it was so steep. 😳 Luckily, everything went well and it quickly stopped raining.

    We have been here on Koh Samui for a total of 5 days and we really enjoyed our time. Next we go to Koh Tao. πŸβ˜€οΈβ›΄    Read more

    Day 11

    From Koh Samui to Koh Tao β›΄πŸ

    We took the ferry β›΄ from Koh Samui to Koh Tao a very small island also in the Gulf of Thailand. 🏝The distance between the two islands is 69.9 kilometers. The journey took 1 hour 30 minutes and cost 700 Baht (19.18€).
    The ride was really very pleasant and we enjoyed the view. 🌊
    We were really looking forward to Koh Tao and the difference to Koh Samui. πŸ€”

    We rented a scooter πŸ›΅ here for 150 (4.07€) Baht per day. That's cheaper than on Koh Samui, where we paid 200 Baht (€5.43) per day.
    Refueling is also very cheap here in thailand, you pay 29 Baht (0.79€) per liter. That would never be imaginable in Germany. 😳

    Our accommodation is a bungalow πŸ›– right on Sairee Beach πŸ– for 360 Baht per night (9.76€).
    The landlady is really nice and accommodating and what's really great is that we can even leave our dirty laundry with her and pick up the laundry fresh on the same day. πŸ‘πŸΌ
    The complex is really tropical, there are incredibly beautiful and fascinating plants here. We even had a few of them as houseplants in Germany. πŸͺ΄πŸ˜… But it is much nicer to see the plants growing in the wild here. 🌿🌱

    There are Geckos which named Tokeh 🦎 running around all over the walls here and for the first time we saw something bigger, before we only saw babies. πŸ˜…

    We discovered an incredibly delicious food stand right next to our bungalow. The people are happy every time we come there and cook everything fresh in front of our eyes. The food is super cheap there and the portions are really plentiful. A portion costs 60 Baht (1.62€). Our favorite food is fried rice 🍚 with chicken and Panang Curry. For breakfast there is a fruity smoothie bowl 🍌πŸ₯­πŸfor 70 Baht (1.89€).

    It is really only recommended to try the local food at the food stands. The food is not only much cheaper, it also tastes a lot better than the Western food in the restaurants, so we've had really bad experiences with it. πŸ˜žπŸ˜•
    In addition, you have so much more insight into the culture and closer contact with the locals. ☺️

    We don't have a plan yet how long we want to stay here on Koh Tao and where we should go afterwards. But we are very excited to see where the journey will take us. πŸ“ŒπŸŒŽπŸ—Ί    Read more

    Day 27

    2 Weeks on Koh Tao🏝

    All in all, we've been on Koh Tao for 2 weeks because we just really liked it here. The island is very quiet and there is little going on. In addition, you can reach everything within 20 minutes by scooter πŸ›΅ because the island is just so small.

    For the current rainy season in Thailand, we simply had the best weather. We only had pure sun β˜€οΈ the whole time and unfortunately we burned ourselves completely. It only rained briefly 3 times in the whole time. 🌧

    Koh Tao is well known for diving and snorkeling.
    We met Philipp again and together we also rented snorkels for one day and went snorkeling 🀿 at Hin Wong Bay and Shark Bay.
    We saw really beautiful and colorful fish, it was an incredible feeling to be so close to the animals. 🐠🐟 The underwater world is just breathtaking and huge you feel totally small there.
    Unfortunately we didn't see any sharks 🦈 or turtles. To be honest, we're glad we didn't see the shark πŸ˜‚ but we really would have liked to see turtles. 🐒
    What was really sad was that the corals all died. πŸ˜•

    One afternoon we were at the John-Suwan Viewpoint. From there you have an incredible view. The outlines of the island are clearly visible and you can see two bays at the same time. It was really beautiful there and we really enjoyed the view. πŸ˜πŸŒ…πŸ

    Koh Tao has really beautiful beaches and the water is totally clear. We went to a different beach every day to see them all.🏝🌊

    The locals are incredibly nice and were always happy to see us. πŸ₯° We found the best and cheapest food stand on Koh Tao and went there at least twice a day.πŸ˜…πŸ™ˆ

    Unfortunately, our time in Thailand is slowly and sadly coming to an end 😞, our visa is only valid until September 30th and tomorrow we will continue with the ferry to Surat Thani. Then we take the night train 🚊 to Hat Yai and from there we head towards Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ , our first destination is Penang island. 🏝

    In any case, it will not have been the last time in Thailand πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­, we felt incredibly comfortable there and there is still so much to discover there. We are very grateful for the great time and experience there.❀️    Read more

    Day 28

    Night train in Thailand πŸšŠπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­

    First we took the ferry β›΄ from Koh Tao to Surat Thani. Per person we have paid 740 Baht (20€), the ride took 3 hours.

    From Surat Thani we took the night train 🚊 to Hat Yai. We booked first class for 1173 Baht per person (32€) and had our own cabin.
    The cabin was very clean and tidy. πŸ‘πŸΌ
    The journey took a total of 5 hours and was really very pleasant. Actually, we had planned to watch the sunrise from the train, but the beds were so comfortable that we slept almost the entire train journey.πŸ˜…

    We can only recommend the night train ride to everyone, it was a unique experience!!

    From Hat Yai we continue with a mini van to Malaysia πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ on the island of Penang. 🏝

    Arrived in Penang Island, GeorgetownπŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

    From Hat Yai πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡­ we drove with a mini van 🚐 to the border control in Malaysia. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ

    The entry was really very easy and fast and we got a free visa for 3 months. We didn't have to worry about anything, the driver informed us about everything and helped us through the control. πŸ‘πŸΌ

    After the border control we finally went to Penang Island. The journey took a total of 4 hours. The ride was very pleasant, we had a very nice driver and felt safe the whole time. In the evening we arrived in Georgetown on Penang Island. 🏝

    Georgetown is well known for its unique street art. In 2008 the city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

    We rented a bike to ride through the streets and explore the street art. The street art is really cool, so you can take funny pictures. Unfortunately, many paintings have already broken, so that you can hardly see anything, which is really sad. πŸ˜•

    We met Philipp again for the second time and had a nice evening with him.☺️

    Georgetown is a very noisy city because it is so full with people and there are so many mosques in the area, all of them have loudspeakers and prayers are blasted throughout the city several times a day. Our accommodation is right near a mosque and we woke up several times at night from the prayers. That's really a big difference to Thailand, where it was really very quiet, especially on Koh Tao. πŸ˜…

    Penang Hill β›°

    Heute waren wir auf dem Penang Hill. β›° Entweder du wählst den schweren Weg und wanderst ca. 3-4 Stunden den Berg hinauf oder du wählst den leichten Weg und fährst mit der Bahn 🚊 innerhalb von 5 Minuten auf den Berg. Wir haben den einfachen Weg gewählt. πŸ˜…
    Das liegt aber auch daran, dass Aaron noch nicht richtig laufen kann. Wir hoffen, dass es bald besser wird. Wir haben für die Fahrt 30 malaysische Ringgit (6,59 €) pro Person bezahlt. Es ging super schnell rauf und schon aus dem Zug hatte man eine tolle Aussicht.

    Oben angekommen war die Aussicht einfach atemberaubend. 😍 Wir hatten auch richtig Glück mit dem Wetter, weshalb wir eine tolle Aussicht hatten. Wir haben vorhin mit jemandem gesprochen, der auch auf Penang Hill war, und als er oben ankam, war alles bedeckt und grau. Leider hatte er überhaupt keine Aussicht. πŸ˜•
    Wir finden immer wieder, dass es wirklich schwierig ist, den Ausblick, den man wirklich vor sich hat, auf Bildern oder Videos festzuhalten. Es sieht auf Bildern nicht ansatzweise so umwerfend aus wie in Wirklichkeit. Trotzdem macht es unglaublich viel Spaß, alles in Bildern und Videos festzuhalten und zu teilen.

    Oben auf dem Penang Hill konnte man in verschiedene Richtungen laufen und die Aussicht genießen. Es gibt auch einen Monkey Cup Garden, wo wir unbedingt zum ersten Mal in unserem Leben wilde Affen πŸ’ sehen wollten. Die Entfernung dorthin war 2 km weit. Auf halbem Weg mussten wir eine Pause machen und entscheiden, dass wir den Weg nicht beenden können, weil Aarons Fuß höllisch weh tat. 😞 Also gingen wir in Richtung zurück und kurz darauf sahen wir Affen πŸ’ in den Bäumen über uns, in den Stromleitungen. Es war wirklich cool, aber wir hatten auch ein bisschen Angst, weil wir sehr Respekt vor Affen haben, besonders vor wilden Affen. Wir haben viele Male Geschichten darüber gelesen und gehört, dass Menschen von Affen gebissen wurden. 😳
    Die Affen sprangen meterweit von Baum zu Baum und zeigten wenig Interesse an uns. Zum Glück. πŸ˜‚

    Die Fahrt auf den Penang Hill hat sich wirklich gelohnt und wir sind froh, dass wir es gemacht haben. πŸ‘πŸΌ Wir bleiben noch eine Nacht in Penang in Georgetown und fliegen dann nach Langkawi. 🏝 Darauf freuen wir uns sehr. Unglaublich schön soll es dort sein, ein heimliches Paradies. 😍

    Langkawi 🏝

    Wir sind von Penang nach Langkawi 🏝 mit Air Asia geflogen für jeweils 50 Ringit (12€) pro Person. Der Flug war sehr schnell nur 27 Minuten und wir haben wieder gemerkt wie einfach der Flug nur mit Handgepäck ist. Wir haben für 67 Ringit (14,71€) pro Nacht in einem schönen Hotel eingecheckt. Außerdem haben wir einen Roller πŸ›΅ gemietet und fahren damit um die Insel🏝.

    Wir sind mit dem Roller πŸ›΅ zum Temerun Wasserfall gefahren und haben auf dem Weg dorthin gemerkt, wie menschenleer die Insel eigentlich ist. Hier sind schon lange keine Touristen mehr, viele Hotels, Resorts und Restaurants stehen seit fast 3 Jahren komplett leer und sehen nicht so aus, als würden sie wieder öffnen. πŸ˜•

    Langkawi bietet auch viel Natur, die unglaublich schön ist. 😍 Überall stehen Straßenschilder mit Vorsicht Affen oder Vorsicht Wildschweine, was zwischenzeitlich etwas gruselig war. 😳
    Auf dem Weg zum Wasserfall sahen wir Hunderte von Affen πŸ’, die alle am Straßenrand saßen. Das war ziemlich cool zu sehen, wir haben noch nie so viele wilde Affen gesehen. Absolut verrückt. 🀩
    Als wir am Wasserfall ankamen, wurden wir schon von Affen erwartet πŸ˜… Aber die Affen sind dort sehr nett und interessierten sich überhaupt nicht für uns. Der Weg zum Wasserfall war sehr kurz und nicht schwierig, aber der Wasserfall war unglaublich schön. 😍 Der schönste Wasserfall, den wir bisher gesehen haben. Das Wasser dort lud auch sehr zum reinspringen einπŸ˜… war eine schöne Abkühlung.

    Wir haben uns auch den Eagle Square angesehen und einen wunderschönen Strand entdeckt, an dem wir uns für den Rest des Tages entspannt haben.

    Langkawi war ein tolles Erlebnis mit viel Natur 🌴und Tieren, das komplette Gegenteil von Penang. Wir sind froh, dass wir hierher gekommen sind. In wenigen Tagen geht es weiter nach Kuala Lumpur. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ύ    Read more

    Kuala Lumpur πŸ‡²πŸ‡ΎπŸŒƒ

    Von Langkawi 🏝 sind wir mit Malindo Airlines nach Kuala Lumpur πŸ™ geflogen. Wir sind das erste Mal mit dieser Airline geflogen. ✈️ Der Flug kostete 118 Ringit (26€) pro Person und dauerte 1 Stunde.

    Als wir am Flughafen ankamen, mussten wir erst einmal eine Unterkunft buchen. Wir haben uns für ein Hotel mitten in der Stadt entschieden, das einen Dachpool im 51. Stock hat. Wir fuhren mit Grab zum Hotel. πŸš— Die Fahrt dauerte ca. 1 Stunde (60km) und kostete 74 Ringit (16€).
    Unser Hotelzimmer bzw. Apartment πŸ˜… war einfach der Hammer. Es war größer als unsere Wohnung in Deutschland und super modern. Wir hatten sogar eine Küche und eine Waschmaschine. Wir waren im 11. Stock und hatten von dort einen atemberaubenden Blick auf die Stadt. Wir haben uns schon lange nicht mehr so ​​wohl in einer Unterkunft gefühlt. 😍
    Dort hatten wir auch 24-Stunden-Zimmerservice. Wir mussten nur eine WhatsApp mit unserer Anfrage schreiben und kurze Zeit später war das Personal schon auf unserem Zimmer und kümmerte sich darum. Echter Luxus. πŸ˜…
    Aber dafür zahlt man natürlich seinen Preis, eine Nacht kostet 265 Ringit (58,35€).

    Wir haben einen Ausflug zum KL Tower gemacht, wo man aus 421m Höhe über die Stadt blicken kann. Es ist der höchste Fernsehturm in Malaysia und der sechsthöchste der Welt. πŸŒŽπŸ—Ό Der Eintritt kostete dort 60 Ringits (13,21€) und man konnte so lange dort oben bleiben wie man wollte. Wir gingen am Abend kurz vor Sonnenuntergang. So hatten wir die Möglichkeit, die Stadt im Hellen, bei Sonnenuntergang und im Dunkeln von oben zu betrachten. πŸ™πŸŒ‡πŸŒƒ Gegen Aufpreis konnte man auch noch weiter hinauf, aber das wollten wir nicht bezahlen, die Aussicht von der Plattform war absolut ausreichend, es war einfach beeindruckend. 😍

    Wir haben Philipp zum dritten Mal wieder getroffen und sind mit ihm zu den Batu Caves gefahren. Die Batu Caves sind Kalksteinhöhlen rund 15 Kilometer nördlich der Hauptstadt Kuala Lumpur und beherbergen mehrere hinduistische Tempel. 272 steile Stufen führen vom Vorplatz hinauf zum Eingang der Haupthöhle. Die 42,7 Meter hohe Murugan-Statue auf dem Vorplatz wurde im Januar 2006 nach dreijähriger Bauzeit fertiggestellt. Auf dem Hügel β›°und rund um die Höhlen leben Affen πŸ’, die von Besuchern gefüttert werden können, sich aber auch oft einfach selbst bedienen. Es gibt einen bestimmten Dresscode. Frauen dürfen den Tempel nur mit bedeckten Schultern betreten. Außerdem müssen Frauen und Männer ihre Knie bedeckt haben. Aus Respekt sollte dies auch beachtet werden.

    Ansonsten waren wir in Kuala Lumpur auf der Jalan Alor Food Street und haben dort lecker gegessen. 🍜 Wir haben uns die Petronas Towers angeschaut und sind nach China Town in die Petaling Street gefahren und haben dort ein bisschen eingekauft. πŸ›
    Den Rest der Zeit verbrachten wir in unserem tollen Hotelzimmer und natürlich chillten wir im Rooftop Pool und genossen die tolle Aussicht über die ganze Stadt. πŸ™ Alles in allem waren wir 3 Nächte in Kuala Lumpur und wir finden, dass das mehr als genug ist. Wir haben wieder einmal gemerkt, dass Großstädte nichts für uns sind. Trotzdem war es ein tolles Erlebnis.
