    Guess this is it🛬

    March 1 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

The very last step of my journey has been taken.
After 25h of flights and stop-overs without too much sleep (crying toddlers around me on both flights 😬) I safely landed in Munich.

I am writing this last entry with a bittersweet feeling of sadness about the end of my travels but also ecxitment about seeing my friends and family again. 🥲
I am extremely grateful for all the experiences, encounters and friendships I was able to make throughout these amazing 11 weeks. 🥰

They say every ending marks a new beginning...and I am already curious about what life will come up with next. 😊🥰🗺🧭

One last day - exploring Manly 🥰

    February 29 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

For my last day I had quiet a bit of programme on my list 😅
The alarm was set at 04:50 am (getting used to home again 😆) as I tried again to catch the sunrise. 🌅
And I was very lucky today - it has been so beautiful 🥰
After a coffee in CBD I catched the ferry to Manly. ⛴️ and wow - this was amazing! Manly has such a nice shore, beautiful bays and beaches and amazing cliffs 🤩 i absolutely loved walking around there and exploring the peninsula (by foot of course 😅🚶🏼‍♀️)
In the evening I did a short detour to the Sydney eye, the highest tower of Sydney to enjoy the city one last time from above 🥰
It has been a really nice last day and I fully enjoyed every minute of it! There would just be so much more to explore...but I guess I'll just never get enough of exploring new places 😇

    Sydney - walking, walking, walking🚶🏼‍♀

    February 27 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

By returing from Katoomba I realized that the weather forcast was lying the other day, as it was also cloudy and misty in Sydney 🌦
However, I didn't want to be indoors, so I decided to just do a coastal walk.
As I didn't want to take a bus or so towards the beginnig of the official track, I just made my put some music into my ears and made my way from the hostel on in direction Watson bay. 🚶🏼‍♀️
I really enjoyed the views and little bays I passed during my walk. 😊
Around 6h later I was done for the day and took the bus home haha. 🚌
The next morning I got up early to see the sunrise - which was a fail at it was still cloudy 🙈
But I went to the harbour bridge anyways & enjoyed the view on the opera house 😊
After breakfast I took the bus to the same station I left the day before and continued my coastal walk Congee via Bondi Beach. 🚶🏼‍♀️
It cleared up quickly so I spent most of my walk in bright sunshine, which allowed beautiful views but I desperately needed a dip to cool down at Bondi 😆👙
Bondi is probably the most famous beach in Sydney, but in my opinion way too hyped, as it's just a nice sandy beach. 🤭 but there are some fancy bars and restaurants around, so that's probably why you find all the posers at Bondi 😅
After chilling there just a bit I quickly headed off towards Coongee - and found way nicer views and spots to hang out along the way 😍
After around another 6h of walking I headed back to the hostel as I had big plans for my last night in town - I went to a Show at the Opera House 🤩🤩
I didn't really know what to expect from "The Great Gatsby", but it was a pretty cool show with loads of incredible artistic performances! 🥰🥰 Was definitely worth watching 😍

    Discovering the Blue Mountains ⛰️

    February 26 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Just 50km from Sydney are the Blue mountains, a mountain range, which is part of the Great Dividing Range. ⛰️
Together with Stephan (the swiss traveller) I took the train early in the morning and arrived about 2h later in Katoomba, the main village of the Blue mountains. 🚂
The name comes from the blue haze of the mountains, which is caused by the emission of terpenoids of eucalytus trees. 🔷️🌳
We were really lucky with the weather and had bright sunshine all day long, which is quiet unusual for the region, as it often gets foggy morning (just like it did the day after). 🌫
But we enjoyed stunning views and did some nice walks and minor hikes 😊
Stephan went back to Sydney in the evening while I stayed in Katoomba for the night - happy to escape my crappy hostel in town for a bit 😅

Last but not least - Sydney 😎

    February 25 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

After a decent flight with an extraordinary sunset view from the plane, I landed in Sydney late in the evening. 🛬
Checking in at the hostel was a bit of a shock... it's actually the worts hostel I stayed at during my whole trip. 😅 I already knew it's not the best one and currently under construction, but my room for the first two nights was pretty disgusting with stains on the ceiling (water damage?), a weird smell in the room, and last but not least the sound of rats scratching inside of the wall 😵‍💫 but well...it's just for two nights, so I'll survive 😬
The first morning in Sydney I decided to check out the CBD. 🏙
Walking through the Botanical garden & seeing the famous Opera house kind of felt a bit like a dream come true 🤩
After enjoying the view for quiet a while I just walked around, went to the Circular Quay and Darling harbour, visited a local weekend market and been to some other sights. ✌🏼
Sydney is actually a really nice and green city - even though it lacks a bit of history tbh 🤫
For the evening I met up with the swiss traveller I got to know in Cairns in order to enjoy the sunset with a great view on the opera house 🥰

Rainforest from above 🚠😆 & bye Cairns

    February 23 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

For my third day in Cairns a fellow dutchie and I spontanously decided to go to Kuranda, known for being a village in the middle of the rainforest. 😊
There are 3 ways to get there
    - by 🚂, which is still closed due to damage caused by cyclone Jasper in december 😕
    - by 🚗, which I didn't have 🤷🏼‍♀️
    - by 🚠, where the gondula is hovering only meters above the treetops 🤩

There were 2 stops on the way up with really nice viewpoints. 📸 The second one overlooking the Barron falls, which were super impressive due to the amout of rain lately. 💙
In Kurada we just strolled around a bit as the village is not very big.
I visited the butterfly sanctuary, which was super interesting. Butterflies are such beautiful and interesting creatures! 🦋🦋
Before heading back down again, we went to another viewpoint for the Barren falls - this time from the other side. 😆
I spent the evening in town where I met up with another traveller from Switzerland to have some drinks. 🍻

For my last day in Cairns I did nothing special...besides starting the day with a morning run along the esplanade (way too hot, even though I started at 6:30 am 🥵), checked out the weekend-market 🍉🍍🥭🥥🥑, spoiled myself with a little massage 💆🏼‍♀️, and just chilled at the hostel 🦦 before going to the airport in the afternoon to get to my last destination -> Sydney!

    Going into the Rainforest 🪴🌳🌴🌿🌾

    February 21 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 29 °C

My next day in Cairns led me to the Daintree rainforest, with stops at
🪴 Mossman gorge with a traditional welcome ceremony & a rainforest walk 🦎
🪴 a rivercruise along the daintree river where we spotted crocodiles 🐊
*🪴Thorntons beach, where the rainforest meets the ocean 🌿🌊

I absolutely loved the rainforest!! 😍 it's just so beautiful with all these shades of greens, the exotic plants, all the farns and sounds of grills and birds and rivers crossing it. 💚
The daintree rainforest is actually the oldest rainforest in the world, which is quiet impressive. And it's huge! 😍😍😍 and humid haha. It's a really tropical climate up here 🥵☀️🌧
However, besides being al sweaty within minutes when going outside its very beautiful up here! 🤩

    Underwater in Cairns 🤿

    February 21 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Next stop on my list was Cairns.
To get there I booked a train which was meant to leave Airlie beach at 4:40 am (with bus pickup at 3:30 am). 😬
In my thoughts it was easy to just stay up a little longer and then wait for the bus and catch up some sleep in the train, thus I didn't book a bed for the night.
In reality I was extremely tired at 9:30 pm and struggled to somehow stay awake 😅 and since I had nowhere to lay down, I had to rest my head on some public tables and benches and did some walks in between 🤣 felt a bit like a homeless that night. 🙈
So after a very long night, with little sleep in all kinds of uncomfortable positions I finally arrived in Cairns during the afternoon. 🙌🏽
The rest of the day I just got familiar with the surroundings and strolled around for a while before calling it an early night. 🥱
Next morning I went to the marina to get on the boat for my tour to the heart of the great barrier reef. 😊
Once again the underwater world really fascinated me with all its colors, shapes and wildlife. 😍 when the sun came out, all the colours seemed even brighter and more vivid. It was simply amazing. Had a really, really good time underwater. 🤩🐟🐠🐡

    Sky & Sand 2.0 - Airlie Beach🤿🪂

    February 17 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

I've been flying out from the Gold Coast once again - this time my destination was the Whitsunday islands, which are a cluster of 74 islands near the coast of Airlie beach.
    🏝
The day after arrival I did a tour to the whitsundays which was really nice. A boat brought us to whitehaven beach, a 7 km beach known for it's extra fine white sand and its turquise water. And it didn't dissapoint 😍
We went to a little viewpoint on the island, which offered a magnificent view over the islands. 🤩 really really gorgeous!
After enjoying lunch at the beach we went to another island for snorkeling at a part of the great barrier reef and got to another viewpoint. 🤿
The vivid and colourful underwater world was simply awesome! 🐚🐠🐟Pictures are about to follow, as my actioncam broke in Byron bay and I thus have to wait for the pics from the tour agency 😬🙈
Back in Airlie I ended the day by watching the sunset. 🌅
My second morning began quiet early, as I was picked up at 5:45 am for the highlight of my day - I did a skydive 🪂
I was super excited about it and loved every second. Even the freefall didn't feel scary but offered lovely views 🤩🤩 it for sure hasn't been my last skydive 😁 pics & video are about to come 😉
After getting back to town and doing some Yoga at the coast, I went to Shute Harbor to do a little hike through the rainforest and to another beach and a viewpoint. 🌴🌾
Fun fact: did you know that you could go to a different beach each day for 10 years in Australia?! 😯
Back in Airlie I chilled at the lagoon, watched the sunset again and then got ready for a very very long night - as my bus is at 3:30 am and I didn't book a room for the night 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
